Attaining sufficient EMS for the "best ending" solely through single-player seems impossible.

There's no WAY you can get over 4000 EMS. Many are mistaking their War Assets for EMS I think. I got a nigh perfect game playthrough from what I can tell with my SP only playthrough, and I didn't crack the 4000 Barrel of EMs. I had ~7000 War Assets however.
WA is NOT what EMS is.
On the otherhand, unless Bio changes the ending with a patch or DLC I don't really see that there's any really big reason to worry about it however. Now if they suddenly make it so that you get a better ending but you have to have over 4000 EMS...that probably would make me more upset than anything they've already done with the endings...period.
That would be completely catering to the MP crowd and those who seem to only care if they get that ending no matter what(and are suggesting that you get a better ending if you have 5000+ EMS), as opposed to how that ending is presented.
So, I'd actually be happier with how Bio's already handled it than if they released a "better" ending but required MP to do it.

If attaining an Effective Military Strength of 4000 with a Galactic Readiness of 50% is impossible and if this impossibility is by intentional design then BioWare lied and no further business with the company should be conducted.
Unfortunately, BioWare has not yet responded to technical examination that has resulted in this tentative conclusion of impossibility.

I did everything possible except for 2 fetch quests and I only had 3200 EMS, there's no way that those 2 little fetch quests would give me 800 EMS.
I also made the best decisions from ME1/ME2, except Ashley killed Wrex.

Or even better yet, play an hour of multiplayer!
Instructing players to "play an hour of multiplayer" fails to address the fact that BioWare previously claimed the "best" ending attainable without playing mutiplayer, yet such a feat appears impossible.

my total is 4200
my EMs is 3600
(with 3 main storyline missions to complete, all other missions done - 2 i missed)

iiTzCyAniiDe stated previously an intent to begin multiplayer. The data that he reports was likely collected after he did so.

Now on my 2nd run with playing basically ~20 mins of MP last few days every day I already have almost 3000 EMS before Perseus Veil mission...so I'll just keep playing MPs...Its pretty fun anyway...
