True, but then again she is asexual really.

That word does not mean what you think it means.

well..technically the asari just reproduce themselves with new dna from the other person. but I get how you were trying to troll me, that's pretty clever.

I wasn't trying to troll you. "Asexual" is a sexual preference, just like homosexuality or heterosexuality. It means you have a lack of interest in sex or a lack of sexual attraction to others. That is very different than a race of aliens being mono-gendered.

And I don't really care what the codex says about how they technically reproduce - they are female. They have breasts, curves, feminine voices, feminine faces, female reproductive organs, and they are referred to as "she" or "her". They are female. They were obviously purposefully designed that way. Having an asari like Liara hit on a female Shepard is just Liara initiating a lesbian romance, which is absolutely not different than Cortez hitting on dude Shepard.

The homosexual relations in this were actually done very well IMO in comparison to he dragon age one. All the gay men in that series come of as lecherous horndogs trying to seduce the PC at all costs

LOL, OP, I think it goes that way for both sexed Shep's. I mean, the whole dialogue interaction thing isn't really clear. Coming in from the other two games, I was sort of trained to think top right is diplomatic/nice, bottom left is jerky mcjerk face. So whenever my FemShep talked to Liara, she used the top right. Then, holy smack, I talk to Aethyta and... Did she just say girlfriend?

Thankfully, oddly enough, I had a game breaking glitch shortly thereafter and had to start the game all over. When I did, I made sure to always use the bottom left when talking to squaddies/shipmates(at least most of the time) in order to make sure I didn't accidentally lead someone one or something, LOL! Don't know if that's how your supposed to do it, but it definitely eliminated any chance that I'd end up romancing anyone other than who I wanted to.

What I read was "I'm a straight male, and as a majority, feel that I should not have to be exposed to anything to do with gay people ever. I understand that what I'm referring to as "crushing" Kaiden is really just letting him know that we are simply not playing for the same team, and despite a friendship, it simply can't be more. The fact that Kaiden is a romance option at all ruins my vision of a world where gays still hide in the background, and questions of sexuality beyond my own do not have to be addressed."

Seriously, do you see the gay people complaining that "Well, Ashley would be fine, but if I'm nice her, she wants to have a relationship, and I'd have to crush her by telling her I'm gay. This situation never happens in real life, and straight people are only good for babies."

Yeah. I thought Traynor and Cortez were great.

For some reason Cortez was never in Purgatory for me. It said he was there on the mini map but I didn't see him. Is that a bug?

The map kept telling me he was at the lower bar and I spent a good 10 or 15 minutes desperately running into NPC's being all, "ARE YOU STEVE? HAVE I JUST FORGOTTEN WHAT STEVE LOOKS LIKE!?"

But then I found him upstairs at the bar by the dance floor. I felt very relieved that I hadn't completely forgotten what a character looks like.

Did you go to the third section/floor of the club? He's at the very end of the bar.

Funny... my totally lesbian (like myself) Shepard also had that problem with Kaidan.. by being nice to him he went all puppy eyed... EVEN AFTER I told him very directly on the FIRST GAME that I SAW LIARA FIRST!

Seems he conveniently forgot that little conversation... tsk tsk... don't question your commander, Kaidan!

There are no gay male love interests in Dragon Age. There's a straight guy and three bisexuals, and let me tell you they come across exactly the same if you're playing a female character, especially in DA2. Apparently Hawke's just that magically attractive.

Really?? I like how the people who think of themselves as so "inclusive" immediately attack somebody like me as if I was a homophobic hater. Seriously, get out of my thread.

They flip flop sexuality depending on the gender of the pc. I'm dubbing it "Schrodinger's Sexuality"

Yeah YOU GOT ME. The guy who makes a thread about FEELING BAD about turning Kaiden down because I DONT want to hurt his feelings is a homophobe who doesn't want "to be exposed to anything to do with gay people ever."

The same guy who supported Traynor, Cortez, and Joker/Edi in their relationships. Please people, GET A LIFE.

Yeah well why could Femshep never ask Jacob about his day without having to sound like she wanted to rip his clothes off with her teeth in ME2?

Sides, so what Kaiden expressed interest in Maleshep. And you can turn him down. And? He'd probably have done with my FemShep too if I hadn't already re-established her relationship with Liara.

The problem is you CAN'T be friendly to him the whole time without it leading to the emotional coming out scene. It's like if you and Garrus were total bros and then he came out before TIM's base. Just not expecting it at all.

I really don't see the problem. He says "You're a nice guy Shepard, I'm romantically interested in you" and you can say "Sorry Kaiden, not interested".

I mean I never understand why the mere existence of a gay or bi character is "forcing it" on anyone.

This. It may make you uncomfortable, but thats your own hangup, and one you should probably learn to get over so you can be a more successful and inclusive being. Dude misread your intentions, you say "oh, no, sorry dude, bros 4 lyfe though?" and he's cool with it and life goes on.

you want it handled badly, DA2. Anders comes onto me and gets all offended when I say 'no thanks dudesef you wanna go frag some priests though?"

As I said, "All the characters (gay or straight) seem to be out to bone Shepard and all the rejections seem mean.
If you want to have a gentler way to let down characters who hit on you, then just say that instead of bringing sexuality into it."

Don't make something specific to gay people when it applies to ALL characters in the game.

Bioware has never handled romance quite organically, with the exception of Tali, with whom your relationship grows over the course of two games. Otherwise, Liara kinda comes onto you fast too. Actually I thought Ashely was also organic and nicely done as well. And Garrus.

I didn't like hurting Kaiden either. I wanted to be able to say "I'm straight" not "let's keep this professional." I wanna have a bromance, not give him the cold shoulder. It should have been handled like the Cortez scene "I'm looking at the ladies."
