One thing to nitpick other than the ending...unintentially flirtatious dialouge options

Jeez, I'm a straight female who got hit on by women when I went to college in San Franciso, and it's both easy and inoffensive to say "no thanks". I just don't understand why it's a huge deal, honestly. "Forced" relationships is just not accurate for what Bioware has presented in their games.

I didn't get all bent out of shape when Liara hit on my straight FemShep, just say no thanks and move on.

It's not that I was super "bent out of shape" because a guy hit on me, I just felt that with the choices I made, it didn't make sense that Kaiden would try to get with me.

And for the record, if I made choices as FemShep that were meant to be friendly with Liara and she asked me out I'd be a mad with that too for not being provided clearer options for what's flirtatious and what is not.

The one guy who referenced the need for DA2 style icons has a good point.

Ok so I am a straight guy who hated Ashley so I picked Kaidan cause I thought he was pretty cool. Then in this game if you are nice to him he ends up making a move on you and then you have to crush him by saying you just want to stay friends.

My contention is basically this: why assume we wanted a gay relationship if we kept Kaidan and were nice to him? Nothing my Shepard did should have made Kaidan think I was gay, all I did was try to ressurect our friendship. Besides, he saw I was with Liara/Miranda the whole time.

And finally, I have nothing against there being gay options, I just think this one was a bit forced on you and you HAD to make Kaiden feel like crap if you are a straight guy no matter what (either by being a dick to him on Mars or by turning him down when he gets all emotional).

My thoughts on this are simple:

Your headline says 'forced relationships' and there aren't any.

It's not a 'gay' thing, it's a limitation of the dialogue system, and why it may be time to upgrade to DA2-style icons.

That, and Shepard just seems to spray their air with 'hump me' pheremones. I'm surprised Harbinger isn't asking for a date.

Why do you think he was always saying that he wanted Shepard's body recovered?  He's got plans for our dear Commander... Image IPB

It didn't bother me but this happened with me as well in ME1. Kaidan mistakenly thought I was trying to start a relationship with him. I didn't run into this problem with anyone else male or female.

Actually the one I thought that was totally contrived was Kelly in ME2. You were pretty much forced into that one unless you wanted to go up to the quarters after every single "mission" to feed your fish so they wouldn't die. You'd think that on a state of the art ship they'd have put an automatic fish feeder by the 22nd century.
