Calm down, people. As many have said, either he's just playing the PR game, or the interview was conducted before the whole buzz about the endings started up. Also as many have said, throwing insults at Bioware for messing up the endings is only going to worsen the situation. Be civil, and most importantly, don't give up hope just because of one interview! I don't like the endings either, but if we really want something to be done, we must keep pressing the issue, and show how committed to getting a new ending we loyal fans are! Hold the line people, hold the line!
I agree wholeheartedly. It's his job to keep smiliing and trying to convince the public everything is ok. We also don't know when the interview was done. I also believe the feedback quote many have posted is quite relevant. They have shown a remarkable willingness to adapt to our wishes when we provide feedback
Everyone remembers Casey's stance on planet scanning, he loved it. No one understood why, he called it strangely addicting. Obviously, we felt differently. It's gone now, and all rejoice. We expressed our concern over Liara being so overlooked in ME2, bam, she gets a whole DLC that makes her even more prominent in the galaxy. That's not to say that it wasn't their plan all along for her though, I believe it was. The counter is that we never did get a Virmire survivor DLC, but we can't have it all I suppose. They did do a terrific job with the survivor in this game however. (I can only speak for Ashley though, Kaiden never made it out of Virmire with me).
Insulting Bioware gets us no where, fast. People close themselves up when attacked, or respond in kind. There's no need for it. We are all, or many of us at least, so passionate about this because we love the franchise and feel it deserves a better ending than it received. We've all invested time, money, emotions, and some have even invested their creativity into Mass Effect. We want it to be the best it can be because we believe in it and we're angry/upset/disappointed/heartbroken now because up until the end, it was on the verge of being something truly amazing, and then fell flat on its face.
We have no way of knowing what happened, but we can request that they listen to our thoughts and consider revising it. It's not unheard of to change something for the fans. Certainly, the gaming industry is in a unique market where they can do such a thing. We'll never have Star Wars redone simply because we wish the Prequels were better. But, in this instance, we are simply asking for them to look at the ending they have created, listen to how we are reacting to it, and decide if they could do better and if it is the right move for them. Obviously, it would cost them to do it the "right" way. Provide us with an apology, explain the ending they had in mind and deliver a free alternate ending DLC. But, this would create a tremendous amount of goodwill in my mind. I would like to think other's would also look on this as a great move by the company which would restore their faith. Afterall, we all make mistakes. I'm sure they thought we would like the ending, but now it's time to revisit that idea given the reaction.
Barring a free DLC, I would be willing to pay because I do realize that it costs money for voice actors and the staff to create these endings. True, they should have been that way to begin with, but as mentioned earlier, maybe they thought it was a good ending. Sometimes things don't go as planned. However, the gaming industry is in the unique situation of being able to cater to the wishes of their customers through DLC. Bioware should seize this opportunity to at least rectify the situation with some/many of its fans, depending on where you fall in the debate for whether the DLC should be free or not, if they did create one.
In short, I still support Bioware and Mass Effect, I just wish for them to create a new ending DLC of some kind to rectify the situation. I'm even willing to pay. On principle, I shouldn't have to, but I recognize the costs in doing so could be prohibitive of them undertaking the project for free. I also grant them some goodwill for the truly masterful job they did on the everything else in the game, up til the point Shepard falls on the elevator and it raises.

Soooo, who is going to buy the Aria takes back omega dlc?
I'm not, I hate Aria and I'm glad she lost everything. I was rooting for Cerberus in that comic the whole time.

Also seems like a casual dismissal of the largest Internet storm BioWare has ever stirred up.
Which .... makes me confident there is more to come...

The fact that they LIKE the reaction their fans are having, though, is mildly disturbing. I certainly don't get off on people lambasting me because I decided to have a banana sandwich end to my story.
There are two ways too look at the reaction. One is the negative, everyone hates our game now. The other is that all these people are angry because they love the game so much. So there is a silver lining to the reaction.

This This, and of course
Hold the Line
Im all for hold the line.
But belive it, this kind of respond is all you'll get from em.
Its an exact deja-vu of Dragon Age 2. For weeks people complained about the game, all met with silence or "we did it like this to make room for that or we felt this direction was best". Untill months had passed Mike Laidlaw finally came out and told gamers what had happen with DA2, and without him actually saying it, it actually read as an apology.
This is playing out exactly like back then, ofcourse now its just Mass Effect. I will be utterly suprised if anything else happen (ending dlc) which i highly doubt. Its depressing but i feel it to be true.

Dragon Age 2 was a mediocre game in some respects, but good in others. ME3 was a brilliant game who's last 10 minutes retroactively destroyed the entire trilogy and left us all in despair.

We're certainly discussing what the ending means for the future of the franchise, and whether any of us will be buying future BioWare games.

For those that don't want to read the entire interview, I'll copy and paste the question and answer here. What are your thoughts on the reaction to the game’s endings?
I didn’t want the game to be forgettable, and even right down to the
sort of polarizing reaction that the ends have had with people–debating
what the endings mean and what’s going to happen next, and what
situation are the characters left in. That to me is part of what’s
exciting about this story. There has always been a little bit of mystery
there and a little bit of interpretation, and it’s a story that people
can talk about after the fact.
Umm does he even know what the question was? He should of just shrugged and went "no comment" would of made more sense.
Remember people: HOLD THE LINE

I don't think any game has brought out a reaction like this before....
When was the last time a game ending upset players so much they raised nearly $12,00 for charity in one day?
