i hate how adam sessler is also using the "art" defence of the ending.... you cant use that defence with mass effect it completely contradicts what mass effect is about.

Yeah if it was their intension to be artest and controll the story then they shouldn't have given us control in the first two games.  They should have gone the FF route and made the games linear and given them only one ending.  they didn't they gave us control and they told us we would have control over the ending, that is the only reason I paid $80 for the game because I read the interview where he said I would have control over the ending and it would reflect the character I had help create. he can't pull this artist garbage now that I am calling him ont he fact that he lied and got $80 of my money that I would not have given him if he had told the truth in that interview.

All I see is him evading the real issues brought up by the fans. I guess he doesn't have the stones or authority to really address the issue.

i got given mass effect 2 for free last year when i bought dragon age ii; at first i didn't even want to play it because it looked like a FPS and the cover kind of put me off but i've been a fan of bioware since baldur's gate.

i was pretty much instantly hooked to the whole mass effect universe because of the amazing story and characterisation plus voice acting. i, too, enjoyed ME3 like everyone else here *up until the last ten minutes*.

the ending of ME3 is just putrid, pure drek; it makes no sense and it's threatening to (with the assistance of DAII) poison my perception of bioware forever.

i hope, like a lot of the other posters here, that they're going to blow our minds with some big surprise, and that these comments by bioware employees are just deflection until they release a better ending patch/DLC.

Calm down, people. As many have said, either he's just playing the PR game, or the interview was conducted before the whole buzz about the endings started up. Also as many have said, throwing insults at Bioware for messing up the endings is only going to worsen the situation. Be civil, and most importantly, don't give up hope just because of one interview! I don't like the endings either, but if we really want something to be done, we must keep pressing the issue, and show how committed to getting a new ending we loyal fans are! Hold the line people, hold the line!

I agree wholeheartedly.  It's his job to keep smiliing and trying to convince the public everything is ok.  We also don't know when the interview was done.  I also believe the feedback quote many have posted is quite relevant.  They have shown a remarkable willingness to adapt to our wishes when we provide feedback

Everyone remembers Casey's stance on planet scanning, he loved it.  No one understood why, he called it strangely addicting.  Obviously, we felt differently. It's gone now, and all rejoice.  We expressed our concern over Liara being so overlooked in ME2, bam, she gets a whole DLC that makes her even more prominent in the galaxy.  That's not to say that it wasn't their plan all along for her though, I believe it was.  The counter is that we never did get a Virmire survivor DLC, but we can't have it all I suppose.  They did do a terrific job with the survivor in this game however.  (I can only speak for Ashley though, Kaiden never made it out of Virmire with me).

Insulting Bioware gets us no where, fast.  People close themselves up when attacked, or respond in kind.  There's no need for it.  We are all, or many of us at least, so passionate about this because we love the franchise and feel it deserves a better ending than it received.  We've all invested time, money, emotions, and some have even invested their creativity into Mass Effect.  We want it to be the best it can be because we believe in it and we're angry/upset/disappointed/heartbroken now because up until the end, it was on the verge of being something truly amazing, and then fell flat on its face.

We have no way of knowing what happened, but we can request that they listen to our thoughts and consider revising it.  It's not unheard of to change something for the fans.  Certainly, the gaming industry is in a unique market where they can do such a thing.  We'll never have Star Wars redone simply because we wish the Prequels were better.  But, in this instance, we are simply asking for them to look at the ending they have created, listen to how we are reacting to it, and decide if they could do better and if it is the right move for them.  Obviously, it would cost them to do it the "right" way.  Provide us with an apology, explain the ending they had in mind and deliver a free alternate ending DLC.  But, this would create a tremendous amount of goodwill in my mind.  I would like to think other's would also look on this as a great move by the company which would restore their faith.  Afterall, we all make mistakes.  I'm sure they thought we would like the ending, but now it's time to revisit that idea given the reaction.

Barring a free DLC, I would be willing to pay because I do realize that it costs money for voice actors and the staff to create these endings.  True, they should have been that way to begin with, but as mentioned earlier, maybe they thought it was a good ending.  Sometimes things don't go as planned.  However, the gaming industry is in the unique situation of being able to cater to the wishes of their customers through DLC.  Bioware should seize this opportunity to at least rectify the situation with some/many of its fans, depending on where you fall in the debate for whether the DLC should be free or not, if they did create one.

In short, I still support Bioware and Mass Effect, I just wish for them to create a new ending DLC of some kind to rectify the situation.  I'm even willing to pay.  On principle, I shouldn't have to, but I recognize the costs in doing so could be prohibitive of them undertaking the project for free.  I also grant them some goodwill for the truly masterful job they did on the everything else in the game, up til the point Shepard falls on the elevator and it raises.

I agree, Flinging insults and going off half cocked isnt going to do anything. This poster has the right idea, I still wear my N7 hat proudly.  Being mature people, if we state our case with logic and feeling.  We might get them to listen but ranting and whineing isnt the way.   They claim they listen, I await the reply.

I think they will hold out for as long as they can to keep mass effect 3 as a trending topic, which gives the game more publicity and can persuade people to buy it to see what the fuz is about. if any statement will be made i expect it to be on the 6th of april at PAX! but what he said about the game being finished long ago and dlc's taking time. id say they already have the dlc ready but are gonna wait to release it and say oh we love u so much that we took ur request to heart.

That's about as BS and evasive as an interview gets. Either he's really living in a bubble or he's just not willing to be honest. Dear Mr.Hudson, your game is memorable alright, for all the wrong reasons. You've lost atleast one loyal customer for your company and hopefully many more.

I have no problem with that statement at this juncture. The asia launch looms ahead yet. Any official acknowledgment of wide-spread displeasure would be jumping from frying pain into fire. As it stands the controversy has a chance to intrigue some people enough that they will purchase the game to see for themselves what is happening. I'm sure there is some hope that this "uprising" will weaken in resolve as the days pass.

At the same time I'm getting both more bored and more amused with how this is playing out, but pretty soon I'm just gonna say **** this nonsense. Bioware, plainly, stop being stupid. If this is some epic troll just spit it out already. If not, then you suck ssoooooo hard.

If this thread was on the extranet and Commander Sheperd was reading it, I think he'd let the reapers win. It'd be hard for even a paragon Sheperd to defend your entitled, disrespectful, and small-minded behavior. You are what is ugly about the internet and anonymous, impersonal communication.

I can't count the times someone has called this a "slap in the face." If only someone could slap you in the face.

Polarizing would imply that there are 2 diametrically opposed groups, one supporting and one opposing the ending.

There is nothing polarizing about the reaction to the ending of ME3. In fact, if anything it has unified the entire fandom. 90+% are against.

Yeah.. what forums are they watching? The only thing people can't agree on is whether it's all a dream or not.

The glorious irony of this is even if a player thinks the endings are a dream/indoctrination they're still rejecting the endings as they are presented.

Not necessarily, they can be considered endings in the sense that, he has turned into harbingers pet plaything, in ME2, you could somewhat choose to kill yourself, at the collector base and with morinthe.

Still endings in the grand scheme of things.

I'm unsure as to how he can say they listen to the fans closely and then completely disregard how everyone is up in arms at the moment, that makes less sense than Mass Effect 3's ending.

Well he has lost me so that is two.  Oh and of course if we hold the line he has lost at least 30,000 others, look at Facbook.  Also every poll shows close to 90% of people hate the ending.  these are poll on all sort of different sites and they all show the same thing.  this is not a debate about the meaning of the ending, this is people saying  the ending was an awful ripp off of 2001 and BSG and it was the worst thing we have ever seen.

I will watch The Room unriffed before I play a Biwoware game again.

How dare we criticize Bioware employee statements, SmokePants.

We ought to just apologize to BW and send them envelopes full of our cash.

Thats a good point actually. You either reject them in RL or you reject them as Shepard and "wake up" on earth, ready for the REAL fight.

If you lose track of the number of times someone calls it a slap in the face, is it possible that it was actually a slap in the face?

This statement doesn't leave a lot of room for interpretation.

I will admit I had my hopes up, but yeah. Pretty clear their current stance is sticking to their guns.

Well done BioWare. You ruined an entire Trilogy and you don't even know it. Ignorance is bliss I suppose.
