You can't just blow up the universe and expect us to interpret that ourselves!

Almost sounds like he thinks it's GOOD for the ending to be incomprehensible because that makes it "unforgetable." >_<

Yeah, we're screwed. When the people in charge are this out of touch, might as well just move on.
There's no chance he's just spinning things is there?
Yes, there absolutely is. Today marks the one week anniversary of its release. One. Week.
He has a product to promote, units to move. You can't seriously expect him to say: "look, I know the ending is absolutely awful, and we screwed up..." that would crash sales insantly and EA would probably sic the Blue Suns on him.
We're not screwed. Don't get discouraged everytime one of these guys plays the game. It's what happens behind-the-scenes that counts, and they will address this. At some point. It's not like they're going to walk into PAX next month and pretned none of this is happening.

"Oh, we pay very close attention to it. It’s very important to us and we will always listen to feedback, interpret it and try and do the right thing by our fans. That’s why if you look at Mass Effect 2[/i] we knew that people wanted to spend more time with a character like Liara, and so we created an ongoing storyline with her as part of the comics and then built it into the DLC stuff, and we’re always listening to fans. We have some really great multiplayer content and some really great single-player content coming over the air, and their feedback will become part of how we design that."

So their objective from the start was to have an ending that intentionally made no sense. Wow.

The end is the end.
The "stuff they have planned" that Gamble is talking about is fluffy DLC crap that has nothing to do with the chronologically accurate story. At best its events occurring in parallel with the story or that should have been part of the story arc at release.
We just need to accept this. We got one of the best games at all time, its just got a gigantic pimple on its ass, and regardless of how nice the ass is, you can't stop staring at the pimple.

How closely do you keep track of the fan reaction when it comes to that kind of stuff?
Oh, we pay very close attention to it. It’s very important to us and we will always listen to feedback, interpret it and try and do the right thing by our fans.
