So he wants the endings to be unforgettable, much like a man in a clock tower wanting to be remembered.

Yeah, definitely shot him directly in the chest with a giant friggin pistol.  Why would you lead on Martin Sheen like that BW. That is just not nice.

The point is the dead of TIM never happen.I do not understand why this is so difficult for so many people to accept.Bioware already made something similar with Dragon age origin and the awakening.Remember the history do not end at the end of DAO if your character live you can end it at the awakening DLC.

How dare I, as a customer, give my hard earned money to someone and expect them to deliver on their product!

Why, if I went into a restaurant and ordered a steak and they brought me out tofu, who am I to ask that they give me a steak? How rude!

You know what you should do, according to the entitlement fans? By that logic, you thank them for your tofu and order more, then kiss their feet for even letting you in the restaurant!

Yeah that....that makes...sense? o_O

Whatever hope I had for a conclusive ending with closure has been immediately thrown out the window.

I almost feel bad for Bioware. They finally shook off the mess that was Dragon Age 2 only to jump feet first in the fire with The Old Republic. TOR was praised by critics but increasingly polarized the playerbase as being too short, too shallow, and with poor support. Now this mess with Mass Effect 3's ridiculous endings. I'm glad Ross Lincoln at GameFront finally put an article out there about it because it really summarizes everything I (and I'm sure, everyone else) feels is wrong.

Notice the word ALMOST in the first sentence. It's hard to feel bad for a company that made millions of dollars on these games only to give lousy support and customer relations for all three.

dont feel bad for them, they had the skills and resources to make a good and satisfying ending.. but didnt for some dark (and probably lame) reason

For those that don't want to read the entire interview, I'll copy and paste the question and answer here.

What are your thoughts on the reaction to the game’s endings?
I didn’t want the game to be forgettable, and even right down to the
sort of polarizing reaction that the ends have had with people–debating
what the endings mean and what’s going to happen next, and what
situation are the characters left in. That to me is part of what’s
exciting about this story. There has always been a little bit of mystery
there and a little bit of interpretation, and it’s a story that people
can talk about after the fact.

Here come the tangential responses.

I actually burst out laughing after reading that.

Either this is a great attempt to catch us off guard, or they really have no idea why people are so upset about this awful and plot-hole-ridden ending(s).

That's about 180 degrees from:

"Yeah guys the ending is going to be great it's going to provide closure and arise out of the narrative threads that precede it and we're totally not going to pull a Lost guys LOL!"

Well, he's certainly right, this isn't an ending anyone will soon be forgetting. The Mass Effect ending will a historic travesty. No, no one will ever forget these endings, no matter how much we want.

Mission Accomplished.

Polarizing? The only polarizing debate I've seen is whether or not the ending is a hallucination. Almost everyone agreed that the ending, as is, sucked hard.

Very few think the ending is good, as you said. THe main debate is whether it was a writing fail or bioware is pulling one of the most epic trolls in history with an expanded/real ending.

Said it perfectly. They're not doing themselves any favors by working with EA.

Everything he said about the DLC and the Endings is ridiculous (didn't care to read the rest, sorry). Putting a positive spin on something does not answer a question and it DEFINITELY does not address the issues that many people are bringing forth. I have NO respect for this man atm.
I don't believe that the DLC issue was spun in any direction. It was just blatantly obvious that it was already on the disc at launch and although optional, should have been available to everyone solely on the fact that the content was on the disc(s) that we consumers purchased. The way he words it makes it seem like we're confused little children who don't know what we're talking about.
Secondly, no one is debating anything, we're only asking for answers. And please, correct me if I'm wrong, but I've never thought there was mystery or interpretation in any choice or event in ME. I made a decision, sure, I didn't know what the effect would be, but I knew that there would be some type of definite effect. There would be something that would correlate to the choice I made and would make sense. Nothing about the ending(s) provide this.
This is pure ludicrous *sigh*

The thing is...I want to feel bad for them, because that's just my nature. Not for the company, mind you, but for the lower level people who actually worked on the game in a design capacity.

But they/BioWare are making it so damn hard to be sympathetic towards when they don't address any of this mess and leave it up to cryptic tweets and snarky comments inbetween one another.

All they have to do is say something about this directly. No clever word play, no ambiguity, just a direct statement....hell, I'd settle for an apology. A simple "We ****ed up", in those words, would be enough for me right now.

They need to make a statement before it spirals even more out of control.

Maybe we should just start raising money, and get some programers and writers together and make our own fan made ending for ME3. People could download off of the internet for free,it would be like playable fan fiction. it would be funny to see a group of fans make a more popular ending then the team who was getting paid for it.

It may come to that sadly.  While this works for us PC players, the xbox and ps3 crowd is screwed. :(

seriously though, I don't think this is BioWare's final response to the issue just yet. Also, who knows when this interview was taken, I'll hold the line for now and should they decide to leave it at this and just ignore all of their fans, well, then I'm simply not buying their games ever again, or EA's for that matter.

If this thread was on the extranet and Commander Sheperd was reading it, I think he'd let the reapers win. It'd be hard for even a paragon Sheperd to defend your entitled, disrespectful, and small-minded behavior. You are what is ugly about the internet and anonymous, impersonal communication.

I can't count the times someone has called this a "slap in the face." If only someone could slap you in the face.

How's that vocal minority thing working out for you?

ROFL!!!!!   Funny how we who are requesting endings that make sense seem to draw personal insults and childish behavior from our "so called betters".  Scratch that, it isn't funny....it is quite sad :(

As to bioware's future product....not going to happen if they leave ME3 in its current state.

How dare I, as a customer, give my hard earned money to someone and expect them to deliver on their product!

Why, if I went into a restaurant and ordered a steak and they brought me out tofu, who am I to ask that they give me a steak? How rude! Not a single business in the history of the world has ever made it by catering to what its whiney and ungrateful customers wanted. The only way for a business to work is to tell the customer what they want and treat them like children if they complain.

Remember, the core motto for any business is, "The customer is always ungrateful, do what you want."

  This!
