My knowledge of Jessica Chobot started and ended with a picture she did years ago of her posing as the GTA IV lollipop girl. I didn't know she had a fan following until BioWare told me so.

She herself has publicly admitted that she has no talent for VO. She did the job just because she is a fan, and Dr. Ray asked her to.

Riiiiight.....  I guess Dr Ray was hoping we would all be as emotionally engaged and amped up about Chobot as he was...?

Judging by her appearance and voice, I became increasingly convinced as the game progress that she is a much more fleshed out and subtle character then anyone gave her credit for.

Just look at the evidence, the heavy lids, the lethargic voice. Its all evidence of her tragic struggle with her crippling addiction to painkillers.

Why do you think that OP ED piece from Collin was so pro EA/Bioware, the game is closest he is going to get to tapping dat a** .

Funny. Earlier today I was going to make jokes that Jessica Chobot has probably caught him giving her creepy looks once or twice.

Well played.

Honestly, I didn't really mind that she was there. What I minded was that her being there meant there was one less spot on the Normandy for a full fledged squad member.

I honestly think that having Khalisah Bint Sinan al-Jilani (Westrlund News) would have been a great option.

Especially if you've been paragon to her throughout Mass Effect.

Imagine it? Having your greatest detractor on hand to find out what things are really like? To explain to her the decisions you made? The reason why there are some stories you can't publish due to morale reasons?

That would have been awesome.

Forgettable. Also when she hit on me I rejected her right off the bat. Mainly because I was in romance with Tali but also because she is just not as attractive as they made her out to be.

OP

Its called a Celebrity Guest Appearance. These exist for the sole purpose of the audience seeing a celebrity (usually one that appeals to the target demographic) being part of the story/game/show/whatever that they love. That is the entire point of Allers.

I honestly don't understand how there was any confusion about this. The concept is older than television.

I had my doubts, but I thought...
"BioWare will do it. They will really implement her properly"
"She is a professional host... the voice-acting can't be that bad."
"She looks terrible...probably just early footage"

... disappointed in all 3.

Jessica Chobot is to Mass Effect 3 what Felicia Day was to Dragon Age 2.

I don't think it's fair to call Chobot 'terrible'. 'Inexperienced' is more like it. She just hasn't gotten the hang of creating meaning solely through voice rather than with hand gestures or facial expressions. She just seems terrible because she's surrounded by top notch voice actors who deliver an almost- flawless performance on all accounts.

A waste of space that could have been used for another squadmember... The first time I player, I just simply though that she was a novelty and so I kept her on the ship, once I beat the game and looked back, her character played absolutely zero value to the game.. a whopping 15 assets. I would have been cooler to see her in random places of the ship interviewing the crew, that would have neat to listen to. But just another static character... no need for that.

5 points of assets.. is that worth the space she took up on my ship?

Second play-through Shepard says no.

this.

in a small way i feel like ME3 should have been built from the normandy out. you know starting with whats in the normandy, wheres my locker, my upgrade terminal, garrus and liara, the stupid robodog. then whatever else comes next. but the normandy is HOME. but theres one part of the normandy that  i dont understand, and it has everything to do with diana allers.

i keep her on my ship because im an idiot.

She wasn't great, and she wasn't terrible, I think. I've heard far worse voice actors!

She was so bad it was physically painful to listen to. Hearing her talk after Jen Hale was like getting dunked in freezing cold water.

She didn't ruin the game for me at all...

She is a mediocre/decent voice actor sure but honestly I don't see why the ME forum has to blow everything out of proportion like this.

Not saying I don't agree, but yeah I think you guys overexaggerating.

I think the interviews with her should have been a lot longer though I suppose.

I kept forgetting about her in the bottom of the ship to be honest, the character did not appeal to me at all... her face seemed wrong somehow to me. Only time I would remember is when I went the wrong way on the ship or got a message about an interview. So whether she is there or not, I found her mostly forgetable in the end. Now if the reporter had been a geth, that might have made me look twice.

thats her REAL FACE man lol...

i bet she is a repear.

Her face looks really bad and I don't know what she is supposed to represent. I mean you can think about Ms. Chobot what you like but she looks 100x better on pictures than in the game. Allers looks like the small girl from Jersey shore (forgot the name).

Lets not talk about her and pretend we did.

Personally I'd have rather had been able to give Zaeed back his digs, least he was useful in a fight.

I know I said I forgot about her a few times... ok about 75% of the time down in the bottom of the ship (also, a large room for "one footlocker" worth of stuff - also where is my trash compactor... it always amused me), but I did not think she was that bad. Not great and really only needed for resources but if anything I would say the VA needs more practice. I think some people are being a bit hard on her, its not like you have to go down there all the time and the interviews take all of 30 seconds.
