Wow that's way too excessive. People really need to get over the endings. It's becoming an obsession for a lot of people.

Its excessive to donate money to help kids?  Really?

23 thousand dollars? That's amazing.

I like the "We do this in lieu of a signature" bit. It really gives weight to the idea and shows that people are doing more than clicking a link on a webpage to register their desire to see a change done.

I don't think helping sick or in pain children is excessive, no matter what the motivation.

ETA: and whoever that was, you are AWESOME

NO IT IS NOT. It is called SUPPORTING THE JUST CAUSE, and having a passion for what one cares for.
Cynics like you can just silently go away somewhere else.

why does it have to be about the endings? is it wrong to show generosity or just donate for a cause or charity you see and deem as appropriate?

Maybe some guy wanted to donate $10, but slipped and put a few extra 0's on the end.

This is way past being about the endings, this is about doing something wonderful and selfless.  This is bigger than ourselves!!!

Heh, or someone's cat wasn't too thrilled with the endings, either.

Yes, terrible that someone would donate $10,000 to a charity for sick children.

What are you on? Even if the ending in Mass Effect 3 never changes, this is a fantastic project. A lot of sick kids are going to find comfort from this.

I don't know, in my book there's no such thing as excessive when it comes to charity. They have found an original and positive way of making themselves heard.

But I do think the "Change the ending" movement needs to better define what they want in practical terms of what Bioware can do.

Current goals are defined as:
* A more complete explanation of the story events
==> Who survives at the very least would be good. Presentation of the child / catalyst and explanation of the 3 paths could be vastly improved with a few tweaks. Right now the average human doesn't seem to understand the reaper's motivation. Normandy scene is incomprehensible and needs justification.

* An explaination of the outcome of the decisions made, especially with regard to the planets, races, and companions detailed throughout the series
==> No, that is supposed to make you think and should not be spelled out. Curing the genophage or not, for example, was an agonizing decision. It is supposed to leave you in doubt - save a few or save the galaxy, there is no perfect answer to that.

* A heroic ending which provides a better sense of accomplishment
==> Lacks specifics, and a credible scenario for writing and implementing that, preferably without large production cost.

While I passionately despise dislike EA as well, they ARE known for giving several hundred thousand in donations on occasion. Sure, it's just a fraction of what they make, but it's more than many businesses give.

That said, no, I'm fairly certain it wasn't them.

Going to put a bit a money towards the charity, as for what bioware needs to do about the ending, this guy sums it up pretty good in one part of his video.

It makes us feel better and it shows we are willing to find a paragon way of dealing with what we feel is... well its all been said before. Id rather not go the renegade way and flame bioware and its employees.
