I heard all these people talking about how bad the ending was, and I figured they were just being dramatic.

And then I got to the ending. Without any spoilers, I'll just say that I completely and utterly agree with the 99.9% who have now burned their discs in anger about the ending.

It legit made me want to throw up. Everything since Mass Effect 1 has lead up to this game and this ending, and now I feel like I wasted my time playing this franchise.

I am so shocked at just how bad it is. Did anyone at BioWare even look at the final product? The whole game was fantastic, best Mass Effect to date.

Then the end of the game comes, and it makes you want to burn all of the Mass Effect games and then stomp the flame out to reburn it until it's just a pile of ash. It's that bad.

Yeah, while I'm not so.. enthusiastic about my dislike, I do feel as though my time playing ME 1 & 2 has been completely wasted in the face of the ME 3 ending. It is hardly a reflection of my choices throughout the series.

True, but I'm wondering at what point this will all get old.

The reason this thread is not getting a lot of love is that there are soooo many of them. However, I feel your pain.

I've yet to beat it. Work kinda gets in the way of things so I only get to play a little at a time. I hope by the end of this week I can beat it so I can see what all the talk about this 'ending' is lol.

Personlly I don't believe its the true ending I think Shepard was knocked out and is dreaming and the true ending will be hashed out in future DLC along with additional missions.
This is more of a teaser ending one thing is if you noticed any of the dreams Shep has acts alot like the end dream state and everything said in the dream is from people he's talked to through the game.
Through diffrent conversation's, so no I don't believe BW would do this to their fans and I remember them saying they have alot of fantastic DLC's coming to ME3 to fleshout the game and make it more exciting.
It's kinda like Harry Potter's last Movie broken into 2 parts, this being the last ME it has the feeling of being broken into 2 parts and the remaining part keeps us guessing until BW releases the DLC, so I don't think we've fully beat the game.
I'll keep my Faith in BW to suprise me and the rest of their fans. DLC's appear to be the future of gaming and isn't leaving anytime soon.
So hang in their and have some Faith!

You play through an admittedly slow tutorial session for a couple hours, and then the middle of the game becomes fantastic. Characters you know and love make inspiring and heartbreaking decisions, and there are so many variables and inside nods going into even minor events that make each player's game just that much more personal and different from someone else's. The final rush to the climax has you thinking about starting up a new character from the very first game, just to experience the entire series in one go and see how different you can make it, and you're wondering why everyone was in such an uproar about the ending.

You think to yourself, the Human Reaper Fetus in ME2 was kind of stupid, but that ending was still pretty satisfying in the context of the journey you made. That one moment didn't ruin the game, how could this ending be as bad as to ruin the entire franchise? They've got to be wrong... It's been nearly perfect until now! And then you hit the last ten minutes of the game.

It is truly terrible, to the point where it kills any desire to play through any of the games again.

It's kind of amazing in a perverse sort of way.

I too anticipate DLC for ME3 to resolve matters. I just wonder how soon we hear anything from Bioware about it.

This is exactly how I feel. It almost makes me not want to play games, even beyond just Mass Effect. It's that bad. I feel like I just got in a fist fight with BioWare and it beat the crap out of me.

I was at the same place as you OP.

But over the last days I've given it some thought and... there's no way BioWare could have dropped the ball that badly. It's not that they can't make flawed games (hell ME3 is flawed) or mediocre ones, but that this type of ending is utterly nonsensical and flies in the face of EVERYTHING they built so far.

I don't pretend to know what BioWare intends to do, but... That the endings will be somehow altered? I have no doubt of that.

Agreed. I actually have very strong feelings on what they will do and where the alter/DLC/future content will take place, but I won't say it here in respect for those that don't want spoilers in this section of the forum. If you're curious, just Message/PM me. B)

Yeah, one of the first things I said to someone after finishing was "I don't think I want to play games anymore."

It's a testament to the developers for how high they take you with the first 99% of the game, which makes the fall that much worse.

While a theory with some interesting things to think about, I don't know if that even being true would make it any better, unless it was accompanied by some kind of NDA-breaking statement from someone inside Bioware. Otherwise it ranges from "Haha, you fell for the oldest trick in the book, and we knew it all along" to "We were hamstrung by publisher release dates and budgetary concerns, and this half-assed ending was the only way in which we could later provide the ending that Mass Effect deserves." Not much on this spectrum is something to be cheered for.
