Hi guys,

I did the dog quest initially (giving the flower) before you go into the tower of Ishal. Beat the ogre, lit the beacon, got saved by Morrigan's mum and went to Lothering. BUT I NEVER GOT THE DOG!

Anyway, now I'm pretty high level, done most of my quests and am on my way to recruit the dwarves from Orzammar. But still NO DOG!

Is this somekind of glitch?! I am an Elf mage BTW, currently lvl 14.

No worries, you will get the dog soon enough. It isn't a lost deal, unlike some other things in DA.

What is it with this game losing the companions? I had something like this happen to me on my last playthrough where Zevran never managed to find me.

That's quite odd, the dog is supposed to turn up when you travel to Lothering...

Have you tried travelling between Flemeth's Hut and other places? I doubt it will help, but who knows...

It makes each playthrough slightly different? I like it that you can actually miss out on some companions either through bad luck (forgot to do the dog quest) or on purpose (killing Zevran for trying to kill you)

The quest that leads to you getting the dog is a two parter. If you miss the first part, muzzling him, you might still miss getting him.

Humm....I always saw the muzzle part as you getting the dog trainer open to the idea of sending you after the flower...Is is possible to bring him the flower without talking to him first?



Human nobles have a diffrent conversation with the dog trainer...(the hound is licking himself clean at duncan's feet)

I know that, as a Human Noble, when you encounter the flower, Daveth will give you the quest to return it to the trainer. Which completely skips the part where you muzzle the dog. I imagine this is open to all players who don't get it from the trainer and do the muzzling.

Well if nothing else, the next DLC will let you get Dog if you missed him the first time. So you can essentially pay for a bug fix.

That's just retarded - I did all the quests: finding the flower and muzzling him and yet didn't get the dog!



And now I got to pay for a DLC that'll fix the bug?!

After doing curing sick dog quests before battle of Ostagar.

I got my dog while travelling from Flementh hut to Lothering very first time dog runs from the forent with some darkspawn along its tails and then dog do some (happy barking) by seeing me.

It's probably your own mistake. You get a battle the first time you leave flemeth and that's where you meet dog again and decide to take him or not. Possibly you simply 'escape'd through it.



Either that or you simply didn't deliver the flower to save Dog.

Are you sure you delivered the flower? You didn't deliver it, sod about, then reload to prior to the delivery?



Did you get the cutscene where Loghain is declaring himself regent? The mutt catches up with you there.



Other than that, Dog gets a 'get out of jail free' card in the next DLC, giving you another chance to recruit it.

If you haven't gotten him before Lothering, you're not getting him.

You need to talk to the dog wrangler in Ostagar, accept the quest to find the wilds flower, and then give him the wilds flower. Or do the side quest as a human noble.

Same is happening to me now. I did finish the dog quests - muzzling him adn then bring the flower from the wilds (the Finished Quests log actually shows you what you did, so you can have a look at that to see if you did everything that you should).

Even though I did complete it, there's no dog to be found. v__v I have the Return to Ostagar however, so if nothing else I hope I'll get him there.

EDIT: Yep, if you don't aquire your dog the usual way, you can find him in Ostagar during the RtO quest, provided you completed all quests related to getting the dog (Muzzling + Bringing the flower from the wilds)

You might want to consider using the "Extra Dog Slot" mod - you can then summons the Dog when you want.
