The donation page is live at this address:

http://retakemasseff...ect-childs-play

PLEASE NOTE that the "item being purchased" notification on Paypal will show my email address, and not that of Child's Play (donate@childsplaycharity.org).  This is based on how ChipIn works.  You can verify that "Child's Play" appears in the upper left corner as the charity name when you reach the Paypal site.

The final receipt on your Paypal account (mat take a few minutes to process) does correctly indicate the recipient ("Payment Sent To:") is the Child's Play charity.  The email receipt from Paypal will indicate the correct destination as well.

If anyone has any concerns about the legitimacy of this donation drive,
Jamie Dillion (project manager at Child's Play) has graciously offered
to confirm - contact email is jdillion@childsplaycharity.org (also
available from the Child's Play website).

Thank you all again for your support.

-----

A quote from the official Child's Play Fundraising Guide:

If you’re running purely as an Internet based fundraiser, it is absolutely imperative that you link directly to the Child’s Play PayPal account though ChipIn. ChipIn allows you to collect metrics on how much your fundraiser collected without having to “touch” the money. By "touching" the money, you are technically accepting money privately and then deciding to contribute the funds to Child's Play.

Any money donated never touches any third parties, including myself - it is going directly to Child's Play.  ChipIn is merely a method to track the amount of donations and donators.

Please post here or PM me if you have any questions.

That sounds like a really unique cause! I think its nice that people are using this to be productive in the REAL world. Didn't this charity start yesterday? 10k is rather impressive.

$10000 is nothing to EA or Bioware. If it reaches 10x as much, then you have them.

Guys I think you're missing the point. The point is to allocate signatures to show Bioware what they want in a civil manner. They're just pitching in money for charity in lieu of that. Frankly its damned if you do and damned if you don't with this forum, sometimes. Honestly....

Yea, would you care to elaborate? I get the feeling that you're suggesting raising $10k for a charity is a bad thing, in which case may the titans have mercy.

They're acting like they're entitled by giving money to a charity?  Ummm....

I definitely read what the OP posted? In fact, I threw in $50. I don't understand where you're coming from in the slightest? Btw it's up to $12,028.28 now. Which divided by the contributors accounts to 652 people donating an average of 18.44 a piece. Good job guys! :D

I think after Bioware lied about the Prothean character, it makes me happy to know people aren't throwing their money at the "DLC" hope and putting their money to something more worthwhile. Bioware lied in our face, they told us there were going to be a variety of different endings. If Bioware does succeed in giving people different endings, I don't think we should have to pay for it. And what we WOULD'VE paid for it, should go to something like this.

I can read that on my own, thank you very much. Also, I still fail to see how you saying 'This is rediculous.' makes sense.

I'm all for charity but the reasoning behind it is a bit ridiculous... at least there's money going somewhere good. But... why not start a piggy-bank of money that you offer to Bioware? If you hit 100k they might be able to do something with that...

Seriously though... ridiculous...

Has anyone actually contacted a news media about this yet?? The fact that a gaming community can gather this much money for charity is such a short time over the drive to get a proper ending to a video game of all things that gather so much emotional investment should really find its way on the 6'oclock news.

See if BioWare/EA can hide when Fox News comes sniffing around again.... Just sayin'

The Donations go to the Child's Play charity, we're just doing it in the name of a new ending. Because, quite frankly, if you think the ending is anygood then you need a CAT scan.
