I was annoyed in ME2 with the cap on the number of save games you could make, and I've just hit the same thing in ME3. Sure, I've been expecting it so I've been trying to curb my tendancy to save about 300 times, I actually had 457 saves for my first playthrough of DA:O and 200 odd from my first ME playthrough, but it's still annoying.

Has anyone found a workaround for this issue other than archiving? ME2 fixes might work as well.

Yes, there is two things about the savea you can do.

The first one (it doesn't answer your question but it might interest you): When you reach a checkpoint you want to keep as a savefile (but you can't manually save because the button is grey), you can go to your Bioware savegames folder (Documents\\Bioware\\Mass Effect 3\\Save\\Yourcharacterprofile) and rename your Autosave.pcsav for save_0###.pcsav. Be sure to write a number for ### right above your last save (so let's say your last save is 54 - Citadel, you have to rename Autosave for Save_0055.pcsav).

This being said, the same can be done for your save limit:
1- Either keep renaming your Autosave.pcsav for Save_0### when you reach a checkpoint you want to keep
2- Or you can keep saving until you reach the limit, move all your saves (except the last save you made) into a different folder, keep saving until you reach your next limit, move them into another folder (by still keeping your last save), etc. until you're "done" saving (at the end of the game logically). Once this point reached, just move all your .pcsav files into your Documents\\Bioware\\Mass Effect 3 \\Save\\name_lvl_class_numbers_numbers folder. The game will show all your savefiles even if you have 100 or more .pcsav files :)

Hope this helps.
