I wish I could romance Tali...
Liara will always be my first choice but I'd create another Shep to be with Tali :)

I don't know where people are getting Tali flirting with femshep from. I played through ME2 many times and not once did she flirt with any of my femsheps. Yeah she mentioned she would "link suits" with my femshep but that's not necessarily a romantic thing, it's a sign of close friendship and trust.

For me, it was more in that you can accuse her of blushing after saying that, and she gets flustered and tries to blame it on the fever she has as a deflection. She acts exactly the same way with both male and female Shepard, and it's the very next conversation that you get to start the romance options if you want.

Edit: And this may just be me, but I always took her "Besides, it's fun watching you shout," line at the end of her Loyalty mission as flirtatious due to her inflections. As I was going through the game the first time, I thought I was "on the right track" to romancing her at that point.

Woho for straight characters!

Not that I mind bi or gay characters, but I feel like someone in the future should be straight as well. Just someone!

Hehe:D Less than 10% of the human population is gay, so I don´t think you have to worry about straight people going extinct.

Absolutely not, and I'm glad it stayed this way. Changing character's 'preferences' in the middle of any story to suit the absurd wants of the fans shows weak-willed character development. I hate that crap.

You mean, like retconning Garrus and Tali into LI ?

There is a difference between adding, and changing. They added them as LI. For them to be bi they would change their character. For the record, changing any character's orientation without any hints of them already being interested, is wrong. I don't hate homosexuals or bisexuals, I just disagree with them.

And how exactly can you "disagree" with ******/bisexual people?? Do we all have the same opinon you do not agree with or??

I'm sorry, but the only reason its the same is because they didn't have her record different dialog for both sheps. I blame partial lazyness.

Or, it could be because they originally intended for Tali (and others) to be romanceable by both Shepards and later changed their minds. If they were lazy, why did they record all of the Tali romance dialogue with FemShep? It's all on the disc. If laziness were an issue, I don't think they would have recorded that at all. They could have just told Hale, "The rest of these lines are for Meer only, so we'll move on to the next batch of dialogue." Why didn't they?

They *did* in fact record different dialogue for Jacob with regards to FemShep, since he shows interest in her but not in BroShep. The precedent is there for different romanceable characters to react to Shepard differently And again, as far as I know, no one's uncovered dialogue of BroShep going through the actual romance dialouge with Jacob. Yet we find that we have that dialogue for a number of other characters that are once thought to have been romanceable by both Shepards.

Why the disparity?

I'm not saying they necessarily *did* intend for Tali, Garrus, and Thane to be available to both at this point because I can't find an actual source for it. But there's some circumstantial evidence that at least suggests that it was at one point on their mind, since they went through the trouble to make the scenes (and even for Meer to have a unique dialogue line with regard to Garrus).

They obviously thought about it, thats why the files are there... but as I said before, DID kelly tell femshep Tali was interested? The answer is no, because it was cut. It doesn't matter if the files are on disk, it isn't in the game. Hence, Tali is into maleshep. You can headcanon whatever you want, but the fact remains that she cannot be romanced by femshep in either game. I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just saying why Tali is a maleshep LI and not femshep.

Mass Effect succeeds because it is so close to reality, in that you can believe that in said situation you can believe that a certain character would act that way. Not everyone is bisexual, Tali is not bisexual. Thats pretty damn realistic, getting shot down like that. I <3 ME

*sigh* We aren't retarded. We know Tali isn't into FemShep in the game as presented. What we're ultimately wondering is *why* they *changed* that. In development, it seems as though Tali was originally into Shepard, period, male or female. I and others wish they wouldn't have changed that, and we also find the fact that the change was done rather sloppily somewhat jarring, as it creates the impression that Tali *is* into FemShep until you get to the point where the dialogue options just stop showing up.

It's been a bit since I did my BroShep Talimance playthrough, but I don't think Kelly talks about Tali's interest in you until after the conversation following the suit-linking suggestion. If that conversation hadn't been cut for FemShep, I'd almost be tthe game would activate the Kelly conversation the same way.

My point is that their removal of it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense. The work was already done, and her character acts the same way toward Shepard regardless of gender. I don't agree that it doesn't fit her character to be into FemShep, because her character acts the same toward both of them for the entire game. It's different than it is with Jacob, who acts differently with each Shepard.

In the end, it was cut, and the canon Tali isn't into FemShep, even if that makes a lot of her behavior in ME2 feel weird. (I felt it was better handled in ME3--I didn't get any romance vibes from her at all.) I don't think it should have been cut and I'm disappointed that it was. It doesn't mean I think my Shepard got with Tali anyway or something. I feel the potential should have been there, though.

With gibbed save editor, you can change femshep's gender to male while talking with tali to get the romance flag. Haven't seen what happens in ME3. Also FYI, trying to put tali and garrus in squad during palaven's moon through gibbed save editor causes a door to not open for you after you do the protect tower from husk while someone repairs part.

Yeah, I knew you could use Gibbed to do it. I'm on the PS3 though, so Gibbed doesn't do me much good. :P

I never said you were "retarded", nor did I imply it. I think that there are already plenty of LI's that are available to both Femshep and Maleshep, thats why it was cut. IMO

Reiterating points you made before while bolding them as if people didn't read or comprehend them implies that they were being stupid or something. It's condescending.

But on topic: to be honest, I think the LIs in ME2 were lacking. Garrus is the only well done one for FemShep, IMO. Jacob's just feels really awkward, though I think that may be Hale's delivery of the lines in some cases (a rare set of instances wherein I cringe during her lines). Thane just...I don't know. The chemistry didn't really feel like it was there, so it felt a bit forced to me.

It would have been nicer if each gender had four or five options in ME2, rather than just the three. There are the two non-Paramour ones, but I'd prefer more full-fledged options.

And sometimes guys wonder why they are considered oblivious to hints :P

I dunno what the point of arguing is. Tali was written to go either way (which is not the same as bisexual* since Shepard is only male or female, not both) but the option was nixed at the last minute though remnants are still in the game.

I'd like to know how it affects your game if she was restored to be interested in Shepards of both sexes? The answer is that it doesn't, but I'm curious as to the interesting reasons you can come up with

* Which is kind of pointless anyway, when talking interspecies relations. Did you realize, by the by, that there's a 50% chance that if hypothetical gendered aliens actually in any way register human pheromones and other sexual signals, they might be attracted to the ‘wrong’ pheromones?

Ignoring points I made also seems condescending on your part, but this is going nowhere. What ended up happening with Samara in ME3 if you tried to romance her in ME2? I havent heard much about it.

I think the correct approach, especially with established characters is to look at them and decide whether making them Bi makes sense (and no schrodinger's sexuality, make a conscious decision, Bi, straight, or gay)

Kaidan made sense, Ashley did not make sense, however I feel Tali did make sense

I did fear they were going to pull a DA2 and just make everyone bi, which just felt horribly forced, Merill and Isabella made perfect sense, but both Fenris and especially Anders (seriously the womanizer from DA:A!?) didn't seem right at all

so either way I think ME3 did a much better job in this regard than DA2, however I think Tali would've made sense swinging both ways, however ashley and garrus staying straight was the right choice

That statement is as true as the one made by that human guy at the bachelor party in ME2 regarding asari.
