It wouldn't work --- if Tali was a lesbian, she would be useless in the eyes of the Quarian Fleet. They are a people of survival and heavily family oriented - procreation would come first and foremost. They would ostracize her from the fleet. If they could artificially inseminate life --- it still wouldn't fly because in their view, you'd be wasting resources and time.

If it was just a minor fling for the moment, then I guess you could do it that way but a full relationship wouldn't fly --- and it wouldn't be in Tali's character either. My opinion of course.

Same problem with a male shep though, they cant have children, it doesnt work. That is not a valid arguement

I know, right? After that cute "I should get back to work!" evasion, I thought we'd be able to move forward in ME3. But no... :(

QFT. It seemed so right :(

Femshep has two female options. Of those two, only one is actually femshep specific

I'm surprised neither Garrus nor Tali were gay options considering how much they crush on Shepered.
It's nice to have a bond so close not be a romance, but the signs were there!

Tali is straight. Cortez and Traynor are bent.

Well, to be fair I was thinking of Allers too, but I guess we can leave her off since nobody...I hope nobody at least, really romances her. xD

That and my Femshep didn't romance anyone in 2, so my only male choice at all was Kaidan... not that I really minded, but... I had more female choices than male.  x.x

Partners for femShep (female):
Liara (either)
Diana Allers(either)
Kelly Chambers(either)
Traynor (femshep only)

Partners for femShep (male):
Kaidan (either in ME3)
Garrus (femshep only)
Thane (dies in ME3)
Jacob (knocks up someone else in ME3)

Partners for broshep:
Liara
Kelly Chambers
Ashley
Miranda
Tali'Zorah
Jack
Diana Allers
Kaidan (Was exclusive femshep in ME1.  Bi in ME3.  Too much time on navy ships in ME2, eh??)
Cortez

Broshep gets 7 female partner options, 2 bi, and 1 exclusive gay.  Femshep gets 4 male partners, 3 bi, and 1 exclusive lesbian.  Of the 4 male partners, Jacob becomes unavailable, Thane dies, Kaidan and Garrus could both be dead!  That could leave femshep with zero male partners in ME3.

I think it is a good thing they kept "some" writing integrity about a few characters, like Garrus or Tali.

Tali as a Bi, would just seriously feel wrong.... especially with the whole cultural thing, that has Quarians in NEED to procreate or they would die out eventually, I'd assume gay romances are something frowned upon in their society because of this.

Apparantly there exists recorded romance dialoge between Femshep and Tali in the ME2 game files, they just never used it in the final game.

Tali in a romce with a Human is essentially the same thing as being with a woman. Still no possibility of kids.

I'm sure I'll get a lot of flack for this and every one calls me a homophobe, blah, blah, blah what ever, it's not true and you'll be the bigot for automatically labelling me for it.

that cleared out of the way; do we really need more bisexual/homosexual characters in the game? I'm fine with it, it's perfectly natural and yes there are people in this world, universe even, who are certainly gay and bisexual, but lest you forget there are also people who are heterosexual. Just like not every one is heterosexual, not every one is bisexual or homosexual.

I'd prefer not changing the direction of Tali for the sake of just changing it, and leave her as she is.

The way I see it, there are so few games out right now that let you play with anything other than straight relationships, it's kind of hard to argue that there might be too many non-straight options here.

Oh, and I'm straight.

It also kind of makes sense to me that in a future where inter-species relationships are acceptable, that the social stigmas around same-sex relationships just kind of seem ridiculous and evaporate.

Well, when Tali talked about her family, I always got the impression that she wanted to have a better family than the one she had. The way she went on and on about her father and his duties signaled to me she wanted her eventual children to have a better father/father figure than the one she had, signaling she was into men.

I also think not having everyone be magically bi is good for a game (and was very impressed Bioware added Cortez and Traynor as gay and not bi). It adds realism to the romances if you know there are simply people who are just not into you.

I agree with you in that in the Mass Effect world we've probably moved a great way towards tolerance of others, and yes Bioware is certainly one of the very few companies out there who will have same sex couples be readily available. I'm not saying that there are too many of them in the gaming world currently, I'm just saying that Tali should remain heterosexual, because that's who she is.

If it were already hinted at in say the first game, hell even in the second game? I'd have no problem with it at all, but we've reached the conclusion of this story. Why would any one want to change it now?

I've heard people say that they just have Meer and Hale record off the same scripts for simplicities sake, since Shepard will say the same thing 95% of the time male or female.  As such, some male romance only dialogue gets recorded by Hale but is never used because Tali for example was always meant to be a maleshep romance.
