Ash: Shepard, give me a straight answer! Are you working for Cerberus!
Shp: No, Ash. I worked with them. I never worked for them. I have cut all ties.
Ash: .... ok. I believe you.

Ash: Shepard, are you sure you dont know about this? Cerberus operation and all I mean.
Shp: No Ash. I didnt know. I cut all ties. I never worked For them.
Ash: .... ok. I trust you.

Ash: Shepard, how could you have worked for Cerberus..
Shp: No Ash, I never worked for them.
Ash: ... ok.

Ash: About Cerberus...
Shp: ARRRRRRRGGGGGG!!!!!!!

Liara, Tali, Garrus! They all supported Shepard when nobody believed him. They all supported him when Shepard works with Cerberus!

No reason... I'd ever pick her.... .. . I think dating Harbinger would be more... wise.

I liked Tali.... unfortunately I saw what they made her look like without her helmet.... could they be anymore unoriginal? Won't spoil anything, just my disappointment. She has the most alien body of all the female characters you had a romance option with and "THAT" is what she looked like. Way to think "inside" the box

Tried both and Tali in ME2, but after seeing Liara's romance in game and the other 2 on youtube, I have to say, Liara's is definitely the best.

And Tali before Ash.

Also have to agree with Ashwind, Ashley is way too mistrusting.

I felt really close to Liara, Tali and Garrus for exactly those reasons.

They should have included a scene, where just those three and Shepard are together.

Heh.... not enough, as pointed out, don't think you ever see any old guy with an Asari in the game.... except for that rich guy with asari consorts on Kasumi's loyalty quest in ME2

Her personality in Mass Effect was xenophobic, uptight, and the kind of chemistry that was forming between her and Shepard seemed  equivalent to a superior saying "higher" and a subordinate asking "How High Sir?" But being unable to witness the pillow talk, I have no idea.  And her meatbun hair had a grandma feel that I just couldn't find attractive, she frankly looked better with her helmet on.

I thought she was hotter before, with that haircut.

Ashley's "xenophobia" and her perceived uptightness were things which led a lot of people to say "I don't like her". I got the opposite feeling. Her having that kind of depth and not being both an automatic goody two-shoes like Liara or a "I'm a badass renegade who's pissed off with everything, but as time goes on I'll reveal a softer side only to Sheperd" type (like Jack in ME2). She's a good, loyal person ... with politically incorrect beliefs in places.

I always found that attractive. I felt she lost a bit of the controversial edge to her character in ME3.

Dammit, if I only wouldn't have accidentally fallen into that shower with a certain someone,... Liara was not amused. :? ruined my perfect playthrough,... (Liara since ME1)

the situation was kinda like this:

No. Had savegames for both. I didn't have a clear preference between them prior to ME3. Even though I started my first playthrough with an Ash romance, I really enjoyed Liara's friendship more. Heck, I enjoyed Garrus' bromance more. Ash is ok in ME3, but I never really bonded with her as a character as I did with Liara (that last scene with the memories really got to me).

I had the opposite view… instead of what the girl brought
into the relationship, I asked what am I bringing to the table to make the most
interesting story.

That’s why it was Tali for me, from ME2 on. Liara had just
become so cold and clinical… and secretive. Tali, on the other hand, had a way
better romance arc between games 2 and 3 if you pursued it, and if you went the
extra mile, you could end the war that her race had been trapped in, reunite
their peoples, and win her back her planet. Oh yeah, and you go head to head
with a reaper to do it.

EPIC.

You still have to hit some of those plot points regardless
of the romance or not, but it made me WAY more invested in them when they
happened.

With Liara… well, she really just got darker from ME1 to 3,
and though there are a few genuinely sweet moments… it just didn’t have the
same kind of arc.

Ditto that for Ashley… the whole lack of trust is quite the
hump to get over. So no regrets over Ashley.

exact opposite, disliked liara in part 1, but she grew on me in mass effect 2, in me 3, her friendship memory moment with shepherd was memorable.

Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

After Ashley bugging me about Cerberus for the fourth or fifth time, I lost most of my interest. As other posters have mentioned, Garrus, Tali, and Liara are there for us through every trial in the series. Of anyone close to Shep, they are easily the most loyal.

Which isn't to say that Ashley and Kaidan aren't cool characters. They're nuanced, and they clearly aren't blind followers. But I still don't like the lack of trust from them. Cerberus wiped my whole damn squad out, and I was willing to put that behind me for the sake of the galaxy. The VS' complaints pale in comparison to Akuze.

'Sides, Liara has tight Phantom armor...

Nah, it's still Ashley's. That moment when Sheperd holds her chin and tries to make her look up at him and she tries to avoid eye contact ... for two animated video-game characters, that was frickin' brilliant stuff.

Other way around for me.

My first playthru, while not my personal favorite or canon, got first shot at ME3. So I stayed loyal to and continued romancing Ashley. I greatly regret it now. Nothing was added or developed. It felt absent. In MANY ways.

Even the glimpses through the friendship with Liara and the growth, development , and warmth of Liara throughout the franchise made her more real and personal to me as a character.

Made the fact that there will be no replays of ME3 for me all the sadder since I now regret dedicating time to a flat relationship storyline.

I romanced Ashley on my first playthrough and likes how it played out. It was satisfying. While I didn't care for Liara that much in ME1 I grew to like her in ME2 and even more in ME3 so I'm looking forward to a romance with her.

Ashley: Only interested in you because you saved her life.

I've romanced nobody but Liara since ME1, so no. She got the best scenes anyway.
