She's really ugly in ME1.

Not a romance option in ME2 with no special scenes.

Nope, didn't miss out much.

She treats shepard like crap and talks down to him by forcing her idiotic opinions on him. That not only makes her a god awful soldier to speak to a superior in that manner, but also a god awful girl to be attracted to.

I completely concur, but I was interested in watching the romance arc of him winning back her trust in ME3, dunno, I like tomboys

seeing how the Ashley romance turned out was TOTALLY worth the wait. I romanced her in ME1, stayed loyal in 2, then picked it back up in 3. Bioware did a great job in showing just how much Shepard cares for her, how he missed her, and how they love each other. Best of all, they even say it to each other, multiple times, like a realy couple. It was great!

That is what I would have liked to see with Liara and Shepard romance arc....... Liara just sounds so unemotional and cold

I was both happy with and extremely dissapointed in the Ash romance. I love Ash, it was great to see her and she  is perfect for my Shepard, but there is so much missed opportunities in game, and could create a very long list. I would want to go talk to her and only get ..."Commander" "hey there" ....:crying:  c'mon, Shepard and her are suppose to be in love... TALK TO EACHOTHER!!!  And that is why I took her on every mission.

Still, better than nothing I geuss.

On top of all this..... FYI, Liara will quite possibly marry and love 8 or so more times and sleep with over 100 other men before her lifetime is over

Liara is definitely not bland by any measure.
I tried the Ashley romance once and I truly prefer Liara's.

Not really. I generally don't romance anyone (always found them slightly jarring), aside from a few curiosities (I tried Tali once). I actually don't really like Ashley at all. I usually leave her to die on Virmire because I findKaiden to be the more interesting, and less annoying to have on missions (contrary to popular opinion I am aware).

Hmmm... No she is dead. Romancing her in ME3 would be just SO wrong.

I know what you mean. I guess the voice-over recording sesion ran out of time, or it would have been to expensive to keep the voice-actress for a longer session. But if they were going to have all that repeating dialogue, why not have (as romance option dialogue) something like "Hey, baby" or "Hey honey" or "how are you, my love" etc... somethnig to signify that yes, these two adults are in fact together and in love.

This could be said for ALL the romance options, of course.

I think it’s funny that Ash gets called a horrible person who deserves to die because she has trust issues, but no one ever says the same for Kaidan, even though their dialogue is identical in basic content, it is just worded differently. In fact, I’ve seen people go out of their way to defend Kaidan, but attack Ashley for the very same reasons they just got done
defending Kaidan over.

As to the OP’s question, no I don’t regret choosing Ash over Liara. Ash’s romance arc felt the most realistic because it had a conflict. Even with couples that have been happily together for decades have issues that they need to overcome. And Liara’s arc didn’t have an issue, so it didn’t feel as satisfying to me. But the resolution to Ashley arc was perfect. For me, seeing them resolve this conflict was much more satisfying than a relationship that is happy from start to finish.

She is a very beautiful women, in ME1, but sticking to military regulations. In ME3, she is gorgeous.

How does she treat Shepard like crap? Because she is not a "yes man (women)," with strong beliefs and principles....that just makes her incurroptable. I would want somebody like that beside me in a battle.

I never saw her force her "idiotic" opinion's on him, she is one hell of a skilled soldier and a patriot, and if Shepard is a good CO, he will ask opinions from everyone in his sqaud (just like my Section Commander does)...and he is the one to make the call, not her.

There are other people who can articulate it better than I can.

No you got it right. They don't like Ashley, so they just point out the things that support their arguement, like the one conversation that says she is believes in God and somehow she turns into a religous nutcase.

I can't stand Ashley OR Liara. I never once had Ashley live past ME1. It kinda bothered me that they always made Liara so important, story wise, because I had no connection whatsoever. In ME3 in particular Liara got me really irritated during/after the mission on Thessia. When Thessia was taken by the Reapers, she came across as such a spoiled brat, ranting raving and whining and crying... Then on the Normandy all the focus was on her, "she needs to be comforted, etc etc." nevermind that all the humans on the ship already lost earth, paleven was lost, etc etc. idk.

I just like Tali.

To be fair to Ashley, people need to remember that A major portion of the Galactic races thought humans were upstart primitives through most of mass effect 1 and were condescending in the extreme. Given a lot of them were total jerks, I can understand Ashley's attitude concerning Xenos. And you will note that she got used to Tali, as Tali was unassuming, but was still kinda suspicious of Garrus. I think what it really is that she resented the Senior council member races acting like Tosspots.

That being said, when she chewed out my character on Horizon and pretty much called me a traitor to my face. Well that pretty much did it for me.

At least Miranda was nice after you got to know her.

Liara wasn't a bad sort of person to get to know. perhaps awkward starting off, but she grew as things went. TLoTSB was a bit of a paradigm shift, but I rolled with it, tho some of her behavior must have come from RenShep...

While you're not wrong... for me, it always made more sense to save Kaidan rather than Ashley. It makes sense to send a soldier with the diversion team on Virmire, and it's more practical to have someone good with tech set up the bomb. Further, if you go after the person at the AA guns, what's to keep Saren from disarming the bomb? Sure, whoever is there will rig it so it will go off "no matter what," but is that a risk really worth taking?

That said, on-topic? Since I've always sacrificed Ashley on Virmire, I can't say I've regretted not romancing her. I do plan to play a full-out Renegade character someday, though, who might romance her, just for the sake of something difference... though he might end up dumping her for Miranda in ME2. >> As for regrets, though? I've recently started over my main character back in ME1 because I didn't romance Liara on the save I originally carried forward to ME2, on then 3. Getting a second chance with her in 3 was great... but... it wasn't enough; I want more.

Wait a sec. I think that you contradict yourself. If you send Ash with the salarians and have Kaidan rig the nuke, then go after the Salarians, Kaidan is still there to protect the nuke. But if you always rescue Kaidan, you leave the nuke unprotected AND leave Kirahhe and his team to die. Unless I'm reading what you said wrong.

Exactly...I was expecting something similar to DA:O, where
you can just go up to your LI (both Morrigan and Leliana for me) and kiss them,
or something on those lines. It also seems like the VS were simple sidelined in ME3 because
the writers didn’t know what to do with them.

Ya, that bugs me so much. Haters will hate, and will find
anything to hater her more....if someone basis their dislike of her for
that, or one of the reasons, I see it as irrational hatred, nothing more or
less.

Yes,
true...from a purely military perspective, it is way more logical to save
Kaidan, who is always with the bomb, over Ashley....the mission always take
priority.  For my head cannon though,
since Ash is like the perfect women for my Shep, someone who he has been
searching for a while, he cannot sacrifice her and goes against all his
military training to save her...sacrificing his best friend in the process. The
fact that he will have to live with that...makes for a good story.

I've got a bunch of small LI improvements right along these lines, see thread in signature. Please take a look and/or add any ideas.

I saw a vid on Youtube where shep [SPOILER] shoots Ashley after the cerberus coup on the citadel. She tells him that she hopes that Shep is taken by the reapers etc. Kaidan doesn't do anything like that and is all cool in the same situation. I will never Virmire kaidan again.

So no, I don't regret it one bit. Imo Liara has the best romance anyways.
