No hacking, planet scanning/mako. So it does cut-down on the time. Most side missions are recycled MP levels with little to no story and fetch quests.

took me 40hrs to beat...well...40hrs and 5 min...take out bout an hour for falling asleep or going afk. so still longer than ME2....longest run on that one was 38hrs...with all the dlc!

insanity on ME1 and ME2 took ALOT longer...so i assume ME3 is gonna be longer too

I'm about to attack the cerberus HQ. The game doesn't seem shorter than the previous one so far and it's choke full of epicness, more than 1 and 2 combined.

ME1 felt really short to me though, I was starting to get into it, thinking that the chase would take us to several more planets and bam! Ilos and over.

Sorry I can't agree OP. I'm 35 hours in on my completionist play through and I've just finished Citadel 2. There is a lot more post mission dialogue in this one and I spend quite a bit of time touring the ship after each mission talking to the crew, 90% of whom normally have something to say. In some ways I miss the animated conversations but doing it this way has meant a lot more dialogue so over all I guess I'm happier.

My competionist on ME2 was 45 Hours total including all DLC so this is definitely longer.

This is true kind of miss the hacking i kind of liked that, but the mako/hammer & overly long scaning can stay out

We must be playing different games. I'm at the forty eight hour mark and judiciously doing every sidequest.

I don't think I'm halfway done yet.

Idk how you all beat BW games so fast.

I'm clocked at 64 hours atm, and i just beat Horizon. And that's on Normal difficulty.
Christ.

what the heck are you doing

I did it first time on normal in about 30 and I listened to every single dialogue tree and explored everything. wasn't rushing at all.

There is a lot of padding in ME3. Probably half the game is padding fed ex/planet scanning type stuff. It's all mandatory since it affects your EMS.
ME2 had planet scanning but the reality was you never needed to do that much of it even though you could.
ME1 had it's oblong planets and Ikea pre-fab buildings the plot being the shortest of all three games.

Once you strip all that padding away ME3 is short, but not as short as ME1.

I look at the "Fed Ex" quests like the rather arbitrary resource gathering missions in ME1.

Except this time they have a purpose besides imbalancing an already bloated economy and a gaining a pittance of XP.

35 hours in and just finished horizon/sanctuary. (on normal)
As long as it doesn't end within one hour it'll be longer than my first ME2 run.

Mass Effect 3: 30+ of scripted, solid story

Skyrim: 100+ hours of watered down story.

Call me crazy, but even 1 hour of solid story that is captivating, is better than running about for days, trying to remember why I am shouting at everything that moves.

Sometimes it can feel shorter if you're enjoying yourself. ME1 was 25ish hours, ME2 was 35 hrs, and I clocked 40hrs for ME3

No import, no MP, almost every singleplayer thing done and spent a bit too much time walking to my squad hoping for no dialogue resulted in 31 hours for Playing through on normal, although I do not know if the time shown on saves reflects reloads due to dying.

I felt the game was shorter than ME1 and 2, but then, I played through Crysis2 TWICE in 20 or so hours, once of that on highest difficulty, and doont even get me started of CoD and the likes, so I think the game length is fine.

considering no real DLC yet, length was okay. My first two runs were between 31-33 hrs. Since we never get the whole game anymore until about month 6, that's not too bad. On the other hand, about 20 hours of that were cutscenes, so maybe you should refine the value down to "playable time".

Longer than ME1 for me, almost equal in length to ME2 (and that's ME2 with all DLC) for me. So not short for me :)

One Word, Skyrim

Skyrim?Great game, ofcourse but...it's easy got a longer game with open world dude.
But..Skyrim got the story of ME (1,2,3) together.?Hell no.This is a trilogy guys...that cost us a lot of money but give us like 100+ hours of game with a story really amazing. The content aswell is totally different from mass effect so,comparing this title,is just stupid IMO.
Skyrim:
1 hr= wooow amazing world
20 hr= mh..it is all snow and mountains eh...same trees...
Skyrim is just free killing and free roaming with 0 character definition.
IS not a bad game, but is a different game.

Mass effect got a limitated world with  8-9 planet u can land on...but 20-25 hr of STORY and only story and only on ME 3.Put together with the other 2 and...well,take u'r conclusion.

P.S:Sorry for my english

I felt ME3 had an appropriate length, more or less. The ending should have obviously been longer.

ME3 is definitely the most fun I've had in either of the three games, with the best story arcs, and the least repetitive filler content. No Mako exploration, no strip-mining planets for rare metals, and more varied and fast-paced battles.

And the N7 missions are what ties the multiplayer mode into the story, and legitimizes the "Galaxy at War" system, basically. They give you a taste of what the multiplayer may feel like, and also cleverly tie into a few other quests on the side.

I'm at 42 hours and right at the very end. I've found it to be about equal to the other two in length, but quite a bit more enjoyable to be honest. I always try to hit all side quests be as completionist as possible without consulting guides. And I have to say, for a completionist, Mass Effect 3 is far superior to its predecessors.

Christ, ME 1 was an absolute bore when it came to getting all the resources and stuff. I actually get a little nauseous thinking about it. This was far improved in ME2 with planet scanning, but still became tedious and boring. Honestly, ME3 has done probably the best job of any RPG in my recent memory at making sides and fetches moderately interesting. The way its all tied to war assets gives a much better feel. Plus the mechanics of the fetches were just far more pleasant.

I've found tha BioWare gives me the greatest bang for my buck, bang being enjoyment if not necessarily time. 40 hours is really my sweet spot and they always manage to give me the best characters and narrative for that time length. I enjoy Bethesda games too, but they're just so different. I always bore of them by 50 hours and for me, personally, the narrative is far inferior to what BioWare puts out. At about 40 hours Bethesda games start to feel like cardboard worlds. They're a blast in the beginning though!!

you cant do everything in me3 in 33 hours, infact, you cant do everything in any mass effect in 33 hours, not even with the guide. ME1 had exploration where you could find random stuff. It took me probably 3 playthroughs on me1 to see 95% of the stuff. And a Insanity playthrough doing everything with all dlc is like 60 hours or more on ME1. This ofc is doing a fresh Insanity run, not one of those NG+ deals

I admit it only took me 32 hours on my Vanguard, 100% completion Insanity. Got the highest Control ending too, and this was shorter then my last ME 2 Casual run.

Still, I like it. Only reason I don't see myself playing ME 3 extensively is real life and being burnt out on this series. Played way too much of this crap in the last two months.

Please you have as much control of your character in Skyrim as you do in Mass Effect. Skyrim allows for more gameplay diversity and choose your own role while Mass Effect allows you the dialogue (well autodialogue) to be one of two people. Pargon (nice guy) or Renegade (****).

And Witcher 2 then if you want a game similar to ME or DA.. Excellent story, characters and great ending plus 4-6 hous of new content coming soon for free.
