Unlike Steam, Origin doesn't seem to track your playing time anywhere.

Short? really? What, were you expecting 80 hours or something more?
I would estimate that my current playthrough has already lasted around 50-60 hours and will probably exceed that by the time I finish the game. Considering how many times I died and reloaded when I tried Insanity, I imagine a full playthrough on Insanity will last at least 100 hours.
And assuming they continue to update the multiplayer maps or allow fan-created maps, I imagine I will probably play an additional few hundred hours with multiplayer.
I played thorugh ME2 once, on the second hardest setting, and it only lasted around 50 hours or so, including all the DLC except Arrival, so ME3 seems to have quite a bit more content than ME2 (or significantly more challenging levels).

Did you do any sidequests in ME1? That's really short.

I was just glad they made a game that was so intensely fun that I could lose myself in it for days at a time. And replay value? I was one of the people going in who said that ME 2 didn't matter. Boy was I wrong. I could replay this game a hundred times and not be satisfied.
So who cares how long it is?
Wait.
wait, wait wait.
Is that the ending? It's just red, green or blue? NONE of my choices matter. And there are plotholes.
No. NO! That's not true. THAT'S NOT POSSIBLE.
BIOWARE: Search your feelings, you KNOW it to be true!
NOOOOOOOARRRRHOOOOO.
So in summary short/long, doesn't matter since I only played it once anyway.

How much of the second one was "fleshed out" by planet scanning.
Not that much really. Although I heard that in the Xbox/PC release planet scanning was much slower than in the PS3 release originally.
In my first ME2 game I probably overscanned but soon realised I could do what was required very quickly once I knew which planets to hit.
The problem with scanning/fed ex in ME3 is unless you don't care about the end/play a lot of MP it's always going to be required.

Not really I also did it in around 15 hours.

Really? My insanity run in ME2 was under 40 hours myself. That's all DLC, and no dialog skips. Point is, combat difficulty doesnt really factor "too" much into gaming time. Well, at least not for me anyway.

How can you people compare Skyrim to Mass Effect???? Mass Effect has a stronger story, better graphics, gameplay...everything!
Opinion, not fact. Plain and simple.

Except I thought Skyrim's ending was ****ing awesome, in spite of the fact that is was a completely linear story.
I could agree, were it not for the fact that you can choose to never speak to the blades and somehow, the end of the World just never happens.
Yes, you can save the world by choosing to NOT DO A DAMN THING about it.

Skyrim's ending was pretty lackluster imo. It doesn't hold a candle to Oblivion!
Back to ME3: I'm about 20 hours in and i only just reunited with Tali, plus there's a bunch of side quests that needs solving! I'm not rushing anything, i talk to pretty much everyone that i can coverse with and i play on Hardcore - Which really isn't that hardcore.
What i'm saying is that i'm pretty satisfied with the lenght. Besides, you cant expect a game about Reaper invasion to go on forever.

A. There are really fewer dialogue options
B. There are no mini-games.
C. There are less no battle-roaming and exploring areas.
There is plenty of shooting though.

ME: 17 hours. 100%. Casual.
ME2: 30 hours first playthrought and 32-33 something the second round with the dlc's (insanity both rounds)
ME3: 38 hours 99.99%, missed some quest that wasn't possible to do after cerberus attack on ...
On my 2 run now as sentinel.

Of course the 1st playtrough is always the longest, It took me some time to figure out how do fetch quests and new scan system works. Moreover I spent a lot of time in wandering around the citadel reading all people's dialogues. Same thing inside the Normandy. Therefore I suppose my 2nd playtrough will be half longer, which is not a small amount of time anyway, if you consider that after a while I've been able to finish a 100% completist playtrough of ME1 in less than 20 hours.

You see it when doing a save. It's recorded there. At least it was with ME2.

Then again im the type of person who takes 20 mins gazing at the birds flying around the presidium wondering how the hell they got there, then trying to figure out what happens if they fly out of the fakesky.

eh I dont really think ME3 is short, i've spent roughly the same amount of time in each game honestly on my first playthroughs
ME1 my first playthrough was37 hours and I explored pretty much EVERYTHING.
ME2 my first playthrough was 34 hours
and ME3 my first playthrough was 38
So no not a lot shorter, but then I tend to "rush" by most peoples standards, heck my speed runs of ME1 lasted 6 hours, 14hrs for ME2 and haven't done one in ME3 yet.
and while there's FEWER dialogue OPTIONS, trust me when I say that doesn't mean dialogue is lacking, especially if you actually listen to the ambient dialogue, there's quite a bit going on, and while you cant always talk to squadmates on command, go back after each mission or N7 mission, there's quite a lot said that you can overhear or catch. Especially the banter between squadmates is golden.
and as for battle roaming, exploration areas, yeah there's not many of those, but technically in ME1 or ME2 there was blessed few of those too,e xcept for jumping around the planets on the moon buggy, which really artificially padded the time as well.
