My toolset was working until today when windows vista updated.  Now I am getting the "unable to connect to database" error that so many others have talked about.  Problem is, the database is still in the folder, and my SQL is running.  So what might have changed in the update to mess up my toolset?

Edit:  the update was service pack 2.  I know there is an issue with XP with service pack 2, maybe now vista has the same problem?

Probably what happened is there was an SQL update in SP2 for Vista, and they aren't careful about maintaining links between the existing SQL dbase on your machine, and external apps...so when SP2 installed, it broke the link between the toolset and the SQL dbase.

You'll probably need to uninstall the toolset (save any work into another folder first) also uninstalling the SQL stuff, then make sure that there's no references to SQL anywhere in the prorgams/services...then reinstall the toolset.

IS there a list somewhere of all the files that I need to backup? How do I uninstall the SQL stuff and where do I look to make sure there's no SQL references left?

Make sure you copy your database files as well as the stuff in your //My Documents/ files. The database is located inside the c:/Program Files/ etc. This is especially important if you have done any amount of work on the Toolset thus far ...

See here: http://social.biowar.../8/index/308783 for more information.

Backing up your database social.bioware.com/wiki/datoolset/index.php/Database_backup_and_restore is another way to make sure you don't lose your information, and/or, make sure you do a Builder to Builder export before you uninstall.  That way you *should* be able to re-import whatever you might have in your database.

Good luck!
