This post right here is all the proof needed to show that Bioware did the absolute right thing in creating gay/lesbian romance options in ME3.  The few dozen here are a small representation of the amount of LGBT game players out there who never visit these forums, but are served well by this inclusion.

Congrats on being pathfinders for this community, Bioware,  I'm proud to buy your games to support this.  Soon enough, homosexual relationships in games will be a non-issue because companies like this choose to say "damn the torpedoes" and do what's right over what's popular.

Towards the end of finding games full of people who won't toss around slurs every 2 seconds and generally behave like middle schoolers, I approve of this. I don't like the idea of limiting things to gay/not gay in gaming, but I DO approve of trying ot create a friendly atmosphere for those of us who don't feel like hearing that sort of crap in our leisure time as well.

Origin. Same as my forum handle. B)

I have nothing against gays, but stuff like this is annoying. Everyone else seems to put up with slurs. I mean, I don't see black players looking for other black players because they're tired of hearing the "N word" or mentally handicapped players sick of hearing the word "retarded". What makes the LBGT community so special?

Just deal with it.

I just don't GET this kind of thing. This is totally pointless. It's one thing to look for people of the same nationality or somesuch, but same sexuality? I don't care if you're gay, straight, into beastiliaty, or any sexuality shade inbetween, this is game matchmaking. There are other outlets for romantic matchmaking.

And before everybody instantaneously assumes that I'm a homophobe, no I'm not.

This isn't about matchmaking. It's about not wanting to hear "Did you see that ****?! He totally killed me!" (this was said directed at the computers..imagine what he'd saying knowing I'm gay). Or "Wow, you sound like a ****.."

Since you're not gay, you haven't dealt with homophobia. This is about wanting to play a game for the game itself. Not wondering if the person is going to cuss you out because you're gay. Please, before you speak, realize what you're saying and educate yourself on the subject matter. Read the posts. Don't just assume that because we're gay and we're wanting to play with other gay people that it's for matchmaking.

Please don't give me the victimization schpiel. Shrug it off and ignore it. Ignorance is everywhere. You can't go around feeling righteously indignant at anything and everything that upsets your sensibilities. Why? Because, ultimately, in the end it doesn't matter. What some bigot rages over the mic does not affect your personal, financial, or social and romantic life in any way, shape or form, whatsoever.

There's a mute option to squelch these types of people and maintain your emotional equilibrium. Make liberal use of it.

No one is complaining except the people who are against this. The OP was just saying that he wanted to find some people who weren't vulgar in matches. No one is looking for sympathy. So, you mean to say that because no one else is doing it, this game's LGBT community doesn't have the right to seek out each other?

This isn't a complaint thread, so why are you eve

Or, they can form a group/community of friendly and like-minded people, and not have to worry about it ever occurring to begin with.

Which they were peacefully and maturely trying to do, before you and others like you told them to "suck it up" and ignore it.

They are ignoring it, genius.  By gaming with those who they don't have to worry about hearing that kind of junk from, they are insulating themselves from it and leaving the rest of the world to be as bigoted and idiotic as it wants to be.

Again, before you and those like you displayed a little righteous indignation of your own.

Don't like the thread/the concept behind the thread?  Door is over there.  Take your own advice and ignore it.

This post is all sorts of LOL. Making a THREAD ON THE INTERNET is not ignoring it.

Congratulations. You win the prize.

I don't know if I should continue to try and make you see reason or not. I'll reiterate: It's not a legitimately problematic, negatively life-altering phenomenon that should warrant serious concern. The day that it becomes one, I'll support this 100%. Until then, no dice.

You made a point of seeking out this thread just to criticise everyone in it. You can't do that then yell at us for 'not ignoring things by making a thread'. The fact that people like you saw this thread title and made a point of jumping in surely says something about why people would make a thread like this.

I think it's a nice idea. Our sexual orientation is just one of a number of things that groups of people might have in common, thus giving them common ground to form a community of sorts, because there are so many nasties out there.

You can be critical all you want, and say 'oh it's harmless' but you're not in that position yourself. Muting people constantly gets irritating, and besides which you face enough prejudice as is without having to face it in gaming multiplayer. By itself it's not much, but it's a part of many sources of hate which eventually can get you down. You start worrying about going outdoors because of what you fear you might expect from some of the populace. So have the courtesy and decency to grant us some damn reprieve from all that by meeting with like-minded people without you coming in here and trying to find something to criticise. You're not being pleasant or having a logical discussion, you're being rather rude. You can't act like that and try to justify yourself as being some sort of voice of reason.

Anyway...

Your argument is invalid.

The idea of "the gay ME3 multiplayer community" makes no sense relative to "the ME3 multiplayer community." The only thing that makes sense is "the gay community." Also, "the gay online gaming community" to include the sphere of all games is redundant and unncessary. Here's another one, "the verbally abused online gamers community." We can keep progressing to absurdity, but I'm sure you get the idea. I hope.

I don't really understand why you are in here, it makes no difference to you whom other people choose to play with or why. What motivation was so important that you had to come in only to leave a condecending post and start an argument? This thread is no different then the "Any PC/Xbox/PS3" players out there?" ones, people with something in common want to find a way to play together.

I don't care if people do or don't do this, but don't throw it in our faces and pretend like it's a problem we should all care about. I'm only here to show that the idea itself is inherently unnecessary and why, and I already did that. If you'd like to discuss that some more, I'd be happy to oblige. Just don't make terrible arguments and politic your way into making me look like some bad guy simply because I took the risk of looking like "that guy" by arguing against this idea.

I really don't see how looking for like-minded individuals is throwing anything in your face.
And since the thread isn't called "STOP HOMOPHOBIC INSULTS NOW" (which in itself is not a bad topic, but perhaps out of place on this sort of site), your reaction says more about you than anything else...

Ahms, I am going to ask that you please stop clogging up this thread and derailing it off of the threads main purpose, if you would like to disscuss your ideals maybe message someone who would be willing. Though I agree that villifying someone just because they hold an ideal, albiet an unpopular one, is nasty and unbecoming, I would like to request everyone here please cease doing that. For the record I would be willing to disscuss this further with you.

FUN WITH LABELS.....really, i understand where this is from....and to have to ask for gay people kinda shows how things are...i hope one day u wont have to post that. but to take offense of that to me seems kinda petty....u get mad if someone says "thats gay" but then u ask for gays...i understand the context but to me its the way world is....in some way it seems like how some can say ****/****/"N-WORD", and then condemn someone else for it...we will never be a human race wit so many divides...that said, i'd be glad to be ur friend and teamate when my time allows...:) stay cool friend....

We don't (I don't anyway) call other gays ****s. There's a difference. I just don't want to be around a hostile and negative environment. I don't think anybody actually would. So, if I have a choice to play with people who are going to be kind, yes, I will. Why wouldn't I take offense? When you walk through school and have someone say "pfft, effing ******" and "f*cking ****got"  - let me know how you feel. It's a horrible feeling. It causes emotional and mental harm, even though they're just words.

(this post sounds like I'm just going off - but I'm actually calm lol..darn internet..you can never get the emotional context for a situation).

I understand, my post wasnt meant to sound bad, maybe just upset that u do have to go through that is more the meaning...wasnt aimed at you, but to society in general...when people  say stuff like that in game, just remember its not a personal thing, especially if they dont even know u. Im sure it does strike a nerve, but its not like they are insulting u in a personal way. glad u did reply tho....hope things go well for you...take care :)

I find this thread offensive (Not really, but maybe I should...).

Bare with me, I couldn't care less about who you play with, but I'm sure I'm not the only one that comes on this forum looking for interesting topics about the game, nothing else.

I don't get it, as far as my experience goes, gay people are just as vulgar as the rest of the world. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but being gay doesn't change anything but what you find sexually attractive or am I wrong? Or does it make you take offense more easily, become more sensitive or?

You can call me names like a child bully would, eventually you'll probably get a few things right about me. I still wouldn't care. I don't know you, I don't value your opinions about me. I won't see you again. All I've gained about you is a 2 second thought thinking "Good luck in life kid".

If you are so sensitive that you can't tolerate someone saying nice ****** about a 3d model in a video game, you'll have a tough time in the real world and should probably stay indoors irrelevant of sexual orientation.

I honestly don't care about what people say, but if they are talking about stuff that is irrelevant to my gaming experience, I'll be leaving the game. Talk about dogs, cars, football or nude women and men, you name it, I'll be leaving. But I'm not offended, I just don't feel like playing a game full of jibber jabber and crap talk.

Then you make a post about how gay people aren't narrow minded, vulgar and doesn't talk crap. I call bullsh*t on that one. I don't see how your sexual orientation can grant you those gifts.

Note to OP: I'm not talking about you, and I'm not trying to offend anyone. I'm just trying to say... you don't need this, and I don't want to see this on a gaming forum. Otherwise, what's next? A list of people grouped by religion, color of their skin, color of their eyes etc.
When you're done grouping up on everything, we'll all be left alone, and I thought this was multiplayer?

A modified topic and first post would make this thread more appealing, I just don't see how being gay actually has anything to do with it. Or is it just the sex that bothers you, religion and racism is OK or?

And now that you're done reading, you can add me on Origin ID: Rivermann. I don't care who you are, your sexual orientation or color. As long as you can handle yourself in silver and gold games and play as a team and keep the jibber jabber to a minimum, I'll gladly play with you.
