To answer your question, you can do whatever you want!
I, personally, have added each and every 360 player from the list (and have played with quite a few of them! )

Some people just look through the list and add people who specify that they play a certain difficulty level or with a specific class that would compliment their own preferences… that’s fine too!

Others might just want to add people that have mics (but remember, not everyone remembered to specify whether they have/use a mic…!) because they prefer to talk (communication is key, especially on gold matches!)

It's good to see people try to bond with eachother.  Most refreshing in light of the elitist and vulgar attitudes common online.  

To those that don't agree with the existance of this thread: leave it be.  This isn't about politics or moral values.  Just gamers trying to find people they can relate and easily communicate to.  

Platform: Origin (ArkkAngel007)

Difficulty: Primarily Gold (Though Silver and Bronze are fine)

Communication: Mic available (don't mind playing with the silent, yet classy types though). Not chatty with people I'm not familiar with and can't necessarily see, but will jump in conversation and will let you know if you have a Phantom getting too cozy with you.

Orientation: Hetero male ally (for those curious and wanting background)

classes: Usually play infiltrator or adept, though will play any class. Don't worry if I bring out a lower leveled character (Even lvl 1). I've been around and know the drill.

Timezone: USA Central time (Sorry, not familiar with the universal models yet since my country has to be backwards from science to politics). My time varies, though it's usually from early afternoon to evenings.

It's a damn tragedy that you'll fixate on that unremarkable and immutable aspect of your person, something not really much different that being left-handed, and infect every other part of your life with it. I think I'll stick with my gay friends who aren't afraid of being out in the world, thanks.

You're right: I DID create a thread about self-segregation and I'm proud of it! 
We're trying to segregate ourselves from immature, ignorant, and offensive players because those types of people detract from our gaming experience. 

If I only have 30 minutes a day to play Mass Effect, I'd rather play it with friends or at least friendly people I met on the BSN as opposed to random people who might use homophobic slurs (even if it just happened ONCE that would be one time too many for my taste, but it has happened to me more times than I can remember and I'm sick of it!) I play video games to have *fun* NOT to be called a "****got". 

Oh and there aren't people getting beaten up or *killed* for being "left handed"; there isn't an epidemic of teen suicides among "lefties," either... So please don't trivialize sexual orientation by comparing it to being left handed. K thx bye!

Quite a few bits of our language reflect this; for example, the English word sinister, synonymous with evil, comes from the Latin for left. We no longer attempt to exorcise the demons that cause left-handedness, but the remnants of this bias are still part of our language. As long as you refuse to accept the issue as trivial, the situation will persist, and more will suffer.

I think I can speak for the majority of people when I say that most gamers will just play with anyone as long as they are team players and not jerkwads or leeches.

I have never encountered anyone across a video game on PC or Xbox that i could not mute/block or otherwise avoid, so I am a little unsure as to the necessity of a Whitelist.

Mute is so much faster... but dont let me stop you, something like this is probably a decent way to make friends and meet people, which is never a bad thing... but please, lets not forget the Mute and block features were instituted to protect the gaming public from the undesireables and give ALL of us the power to choose who we tolerate (or dont)

Thanks for the enlightening history lesson but I was talking about the present, not the past (as in, left handed people aren't getting beaten to death *today*, but gay people ARE) so your little lecture was largely irrelevant and off-topic (much like your other posts...)

And I'll certainly enjoy playing Mass Effect with some friendly, like-minded people who don't take themselves as seriously as you clearly do! Seriously though, you really should lighten up and stop wasting your life complaining in a thread on a forum on *the Internet*. It's kind of silly/embarassing... Go out and be merry and play Mass Effect or make paper airplanes or do something more productive with your time. Just some friendly advice!

The only bigot here is you.  This, from what has been gathered from the OP and people in this group, that this is not about trying to exclude, but to include.  We are more than welcoming, so long as you're not being a vulgar, immature individual.  Be polite, have fun, and respect eachother.  That's the name of the game here.

But for some reason, it bothers you that people want to relate to each other and have a sense of actual community instead of the joke of one that places like Xbox Live tend to be, exemplified by individuals of your calibur.  

What if I was looking to play with female gamers, because I enjoy their mode of conversation in games better than the brospeak you hear often online?  Am I now segregating the entire community because I just want to be able to play with some female gamers from time to time?  What about playing with players who are parents, where we can relate to each other on that level?  Fellow office workers?  Baristas?  Military?

Why the heck does it matter to you if people want to play together on something they spent their money on (hopefully) and have as close to a garunttee of a good time as they can?

P.S.  If it wasn't clear for when you obviously didn't comprehend the OP, everyone is welcome, so long as they're nice and respectful.

Okay, this thread is WAY too long for me to actually read. So I guess TL:DR is appropriate here. My stance is that I don't say anything on mic that I couldn't say to your face. I have called my gay friends "****" but not until they've called me "****" or "breeder" first. I try not to offend persons because I found that each person is intrinsicly valuable. If you want to add me I'm on xbox gamertag same as forumname I'll be happy to play with whomever but I won't be cursing (in anyform, my 4yr old often critiques my play).

I like this thread. The notion that wanting to surround yourself with people who aren't going to spout hate speech as akin to "segregation" makes me laugh. I don't have a mic, but I'll play!

Today I received a charming voice message from what sounded like a 13 year old boy.
He said something like "Hey ****got! I hope you get AIDs so you die and go to Hell, God hates you."
Obviously I reported him and blocked further communications from him but then I played with another person who added their name to the list on the first page of this thread, and HE *also* got a similar message. :\\
So I'm guessing some lurking troll on the BSN thought it would be amusing to send us childish, hateful messages... Hopefully this was an isolated incident, but if it happens to anyone else who has contributed to this thread, I want to sincerely apologize!
This was exactly the type of behavior we all hoped to avoid, and yet we also indadvertedly made ourselves prime targets for losers with no lives by publicly displaying our gamertags... Hopefully this won't discourage new people from adding their names to the list! I've had a lot of fun playing with everyone so far and I look forward to playing with even more of you sometime soon!

I find it amusing that someone actually tried to de-rail this thread. I mean does it bother them that much that gays will be gay? (And i mean this with the least amount of offensive nature, i respect people who are willing to come out despite the amount of adversity and hatred they may endure up by doing so)

I myself am straight but i'm willing to throw my PSN out there, i've had brutal luck with the lobbies i (i've actually being called a f** because of playing as a Krogan and have been booted within seconds of joining lobbies ) so if anyone wants it my PSN is the same as my name here.

And i don't use a mic, hopefully that doesn't bother you >_>
