I'd love to meet some gay (or gay-friendly) people for shooting stuff.
Bronze, Silver, Gold - it's all good to me.
I also love showing newbies the ropes and helping people spec classes for what they want to do with it.
Add me, please? :-D

So because people call something in the game gay, you don't like them?
Get used to it, a LOT of people use terms like that, though they don't use them in a homophobic way. If you REALLY can't deal with people who say things like that, you're gonna have some problems in your life.
A little empathy goes a long way, here. Pretend for a moment, if you even need to, that you belong to some minority race/religion/nationality. Now imagine that terms referring to said classification entered mainstream parlance to denote anything negative. How would a Frenchman feel if everyone used "That's so French" to indicate something's useless?
The adage about sticks and stones and words overlooks the fact that such terminology establishes an atmosphere of superiority of some involuntary classifications over others. It indirectly belittles those falling under the classificaton for being who they are.
Language is arbitrary and determined by vulgar (i.e. common) usage, but that doesn't mean the vulgar usage is at all justified. Racism was (and still is, often) in vogue. It doesn't vindicate the ideology. Similarly, popular usage of a term does not exactly make it any less hurtful. Was it right to term the Chinese railworkers Coolies?
Sign me up. I'd not call myself gay friendly in the same way I'd not consider myself straight-friendly. Love is love is probably natural and definitely right and doesn't concern me as long as informed consent is involved.
Origin ID same as forum username.
And as for the apprpriateness of such a thread, it's the same thing as rallying a group around any other voluntary or involuntary classification. Would those who have objected to this thread objected to a thread for francophone gamers? Canadian gamers? Women gamers? Parents? Any common ground is simply a starting point for richer interaction - you're guaranteed to share at least some viewpoints or experiences with another in the same group.

Need moar games xyzmkrysvr!
Haha so I was doing Glacier speed runs vs Cerberus earlier and we had an extra spot that a random person filled... He kept dying and then complaining about how we weren't rezzing him (when he'd be on the entire opposite side of the map! And I'd *try* to get to him but naturally he'd be surrounded by three phantoms and two atlases...) and I was honestly thinking "man, I wish Tidal were here instead...")
Anyway, we'll definitely need to play together once the new DLC comes out!
Oh! And something funny: I realized tonight that my mic is broken. Like, I can hear other people but for some reason they can't hear me... So I need to get a new one! But it made me feel a little better knowing that because when I was playing with you earlier, I'd say something and no one would respond, so I assumed it was just because you guys didn't like me...
So... Yeah. That's my story!

I play in Xbox Live
My name is Suko, I have a mic but I usually dont use it 'cause I do not feel very safe to talk, because my main language is Spanish and my English is not perfect.
My GamerTag is Sukotto Rei
I've done solo bronze and silver. usually set in gold for the money, because I want to maximize my items.
I play with different kinds because I am still experiencing. since I usually played with class engineer or Infiltrator. So sometimes I can look like a rookie because I am experiencing with the characters
I usually play every day but my schedule is broken. cause I could play in the morning or in the afternoon and sometimes in the nights...
But if I'm online, and playing. I will gladly accept the invitation to a game if I am not in a game
=)

Sexual orientation's a personal matter, all I care about is how well you can pull a trigger. And with only two people, I'll take all the help I can

This is a gaming forum. I come on here to talk about mass effect. What the HELL! does this have to do with gaming or mass effect? Who the hell cares what kind of people play on xbox live? It's not a dating machine. It's not something aimed at hooking you up with sausages. It's to play GAMES on!
Explain to me how forming groups of friends to play Mass Effect online with has nothing to do with gaming or Mass Effect. Please, try.

I'm not a great gamer (I tend to die a lot...) and I can only play during holidays, but if anyone would like a quiet (no mic) player to join them, I'd be happy to do so.
Origin ID: Rowlina
I play mainly Bronze, but sometimes silver games.
(My internet is not really good, I get disconnected quite often for a couple of seconds. If I'm invited to a game, I can reconnect, so it shouldn't be a big problem... Hopefully ^^; )

I can understand wanting to elevate yourself above the common internet troll that does nothing but insult homosexuals and speculate on the chastity or weight of peoples mothers.

And GJ88: this thread has NOTHING to do with hooking anybody up with "sausages". You really think I would use the BSN to try and find guys?? That's the silliest thing I've heard all day. There's something called Grindr and Adam4Adam and *that's* where I could go if I ever have a craving for some sausage

I do sometimes wonder that if by objecting too strongly to the word "gay" being used in a negative connotation you are simply alienating people who might well be sympathetic to you by demanding special treatment. In a perfect world certainly none of this would be required. We would just accept each other regardless. But the world isn't perfect and people pick up bad habits. The key of course is tolerance both FOR gay people and FROM gay people. Since I was the subject of racial discrimination myself I understand the feeling of those being discriminated against. But the cold hard truth of the world is that people are prejudiced by nurture if not by nature. The very act of living slowly builds opinions which give rise to pretense which gives rise to prejudice. The trick is simply not letting it get out of control.
I can understand wanting to elevate yourself above the common internet troll that does nothing but insult homosexuals and speculate on the chastity or weight of peoples mothers.
Krunjar, my problem is that right now I have too *many* gay or gay-friendly people to play Mass Effect with... If I want to weed out the couple of individuals that use the word "gay" to mean stupid, I ought to be entitled to do that without it being an issue. See, I like to play Mass Effect with cool, mature people that I can have fun with. The people who say "that's so gay" are free to play with each other if they want!
So don't get me wrong: I'm a *very* tolerant guy. And I 100% support their right to say whatever they want to say, even the "F" word... I just won't play with them.
And I realize that it's become a habit for some people to say... But it's a habit they should work hard to break. I used to say "that's retarded" and stuff like that until I became friends with a girl who had Down's Syndrome. After that I tried REALLY hard never to say the "R" word again out of respect to her (I admit, I slipped a couple of times, but I always felt bad and would immediately apologize, even if she wasn't around to hear it. If you say "that's so gay" maybe you should try doing that until it becomes a HABIT for you to just not say it...!)

If those are the type of teammates you prefer to play with, cool!
There are *plenty* of other threads (N7 elitist threads, speed run threads, "gold only" threads) where I'm sure you can find lots of people like that.
*This* thread, however, does not discriminate. We welcome ANY player of ANY caliber (so long as they aren't homophobic and are respectful of others, of course!).
I have absolutely no problems carrying a teammate or two for an entire match.
In fact, I'm happy to do it!
It makes gold matches more interesting and makes the game feel more like co-op and less like lone wolves running around the map, racking up their kill count without acknowledging the other people even exist.
But to each his own!
