He had no point. There was nothing left to discuss.

But thanks for the fortune cookie commentary. You are wise and knowledgable.

I hope you don't see me as Secretary #2 for asking this, and I don't mean this as offensive as it's going to sound, but what exactly is your problem? I don't think the intention of the OP is to let everyone know how proud we othersexual people (I sincerely hope this doesn't offend anyone, it's just an easy way of including everyone) are of our orientation. Honestly it isn't. It's just who we are and we like other people that are the same. I see no harm in trying to gather a group. How would you suggest we do this in any other way?

I've seen this same kind of topic for girl gamers. I can understand chicks wanting to game with each other, but they have to start topics like this to gather 'em, in which they too are always flooded with negativity for attention-whoring. It's never right, really.

"Secretary #1" already asked him this, it seems he doesn't want to respond to anyone but the OP :(

Woah.
Ok, I’d REALLY like it if this thread doesn’t get locked like the original one… let’s stop feeding the trolls and hopefully they’ll either leave or starve and die!

Wow. Go choke or something. Hope your parents outlive you, seriously.
I have nothing against gay people, but you are just a jackass, probably worse than attention ****s seeking validation on this forum. Again - threads like this are like dumb girl gamers trying to get attention by
being "different than mainstream gamer".

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH!
That was the sound of the entire purpose of this thread sailing miles over your head.
Edit: i really appreciate the OP being kind and taking all this hate in stride, but I can't just sit back and let people be ignorant ***holes.

@Eebatsama, I *totally* understand where you’re coming from, trust me, I have to literally BITE my tongue sometimes….

@DS_Abe, the BSN has implemented a “zero tolerance policy on any form of abuse towards staff, moderators or other Community members”. If you call a fellow forumite a “jackass”, you could get banned. Please leave this
thread and take your anger with you. Thank you!

No hard feelings! ^_^
I just don’t want a couple of trolls to succeed in hijacking this thread away from its original, benign purpose… let’s not get dragged into the mud with the cretins and mudslingers!

Haha I hope you don’t mistake me for some uptight queen… I guess just how people in the black community are allowed to say the N word, I am fine with people in the gay community (or our straight allies!) jokingly
saying things that I wouldn’t be comfortable with a homophobic hetero saying… as long as it’s all in good fun and not meant to be hurtful! I know, that’s still a double standard. But it is what it is!

I think that ought to clear up your confusion!

This.  Guys, he's not looking for players like him because he believes they play better or because he can't handle playing with straight people. He's looking for people to have fun with.  If someone started an LGBT club
would you yell at them for being exclusive? I'm guessing not, mostly because the purpose of such a club is to have fun with like-minded folks, not exclude others.
I misunderstood the point of this thread, too, at first.  I was wrong.

THANK YOU! I was beginning to feel like I was talking to a brick wall…
I appreciate your understanding!

I never understood why people get so angry with "That's so gay" type comments, I being bi don't care and actually say it often when applicable... I know gay people who use the phrase as well... I and they never have cared... but anyway, I rarely talk on mic anyway... but sure why not through my GT in there, don't really get on often... but... meh lol

In regards to people wondering why a thread such as this should exist...Consider the fact that gay people for the most part, are a small percentage of the global population.   Of this small percentage, an ever smaller number play video games like Mass Effect.  Hence, finding a gay video gamer is akin to looking for a needle in a haystack in some respects.

This thread is a means for gay, or gay tolerant people to meet up in order to play together with like minded individuals...and lets be honest, it is infinitely more fun to play and chat with people who share similar interests and traits.

Thats just my 2 cents anyway....

I don't necessarily agree with the sentiment of looking for other gay players, but maybe just anyone who is tolerant of everyone. As long as you're halfway competent at the game you can be as gay as you want. I'm friendly and love a good team I can stick with.

Here’s why it annoys me: usually, they use the word “gay” to mean “stupid”. So, what they’re essentially saying is gay = stupid. I’m sorry, but “gay” and “stupid” are not interchangeable synonyms. And, as I mentioned in another post, I’m actually not bothered when gay people (or straight allies) say “that’s so gay” type comments because they usually say it more lightheartedly and don’t mean it in a degrading way. I know it’s a double standard, but it’s the same way in the African American community: THEY can say the N word, but we never can.

Actually, I clarified that I’m not JUST looking for other gay players, but, like you said, anyone who is open-minded (aka not homophobic). ^_^ I realize that you probably didn’t read through all 9 of the pages (I know I wouldn’t if I hadn’t created this thread…) so I’m sorry if you were under the impression that I was being elitist and exclusive!

But not all gay people share similar interests and traits, it's not a "lifestyle" as some(most?) people misconceive.

Thank you, that is probably the term I hate more than anything "lifestyle" or "lifestyle choice".  Considering the 10 years or so I spent battling against it (and my sister too for that matter), it sure was no "choice"  The trolls that feel the need to stick their ignorant noses into threads like this crack me up.  I can only feel sorry for such stupid people.

Actually, all gay guys I've come across *do* share at LEAST one similar interest.. Namely, that they're all interested in guys :P And, just how straight guys can bond over talking about women, gay guys can bond with their common interest in men. Even if you don't talk about it, you already have an inherent connection that establishes a subconscious sense of solidarity. That's why I will always feel closer to my gay guy friends than my straight guy friends, because they intuitively understand me on a sexual level AND they know what it's like to be gay--the good *and* bad--which is something my straight friends will never be able to relate to because they enjoy (often without even realizing it!) the luxury of being the sexual majority in a heteronormative society!

Another thing: I posted this thread in a Mass Effect forum, hoping to find some "gaymers" that, well, enjoy playing Mass Effect :P
So there are two more interests we share in common and can talk about!

Ignorance and intelligence don't necessarily go hand-in-hand. We can't assume ALL "trolls" are stupid just because they come across as being somewhat ignorant in one aspect of life.

Another thing: we should probably stop calling the random people who post in this thread "trolls"... :/ I know *I'm* guilty of doing it in the past, but it's not very productive or nice...

And a lot of the people we call "trolls" probably think *we're* the trolls for creating and contributing to this thread! So it's all a matter of perspective.

Now, I don't know about you, but I know how it feels to be called horrible names... and it's not a fun feeling. Name calling (even if it's just "troll") ought to be beneath us because we, of all people, should be sensitive to such pettiness and cruelty.

I understand completely where you're coming from--I struggled with my sexuality for a long time (and my sister recently came out as a lesbian!)--so I realize how vexing it can be to be subjected to ignorance and insensitivity, but let's collectively rise above the fray ^_^

Just replying with some good-natured ribbing. All in good fun.

More power to you, I just don't really see the point. I don't go around making "hetero-only" threads.

You don't have to make "hetero-only" threads because you enjoy being an illustrious member of the sexual majority in a heteronormative society. Is it such a strange concept that a group of oppressed outcasts would want to band together? For the record: I'm absolutely not opposed to having straight allies on my team, so if you thought I was being exclusive, I'm sorry I wasn't more clear. All I wanted to do when I created this thread was find a couple fellow gaymers to play Mass Effect with. Is that so much to ask for? Posts like yours are just distracting from my objective.

Just my two cents. Half the reason you're an "outcast" and "opressed" is exactly because of stuff like this. It is an online multiplayer shooter... sexual orientation should have ZERO to do with it. If people saying "thats gay" offends you I hope while you're sitting on your high horse you have never:

made an  "oh snap" comment
made a racial joke
made a fat joke
made a "women drivers" joke
made a "that's retarded" comment
made a "get me a sammich woman" comment
made a comment of ANY kind that directly or indirectly refers to any person at all.

Seriously, get over it. If you want equal treatment act like a human being not a sexual orientation. Play the game, slaughter bad guys, scream at your computer monitor and brag about your kills. Leave who you sleep with, out of it. You're only forcibly ostracising yourself. You are creating a rift in the community without there having been one.. THEN say you're being oppressed or offended or ostracsized. It is just silly.

Sincerely,
Ivy who wants to blow crap up and not care who puts their hoo ha in a hoo hoo or their hoo ha in  a what what.

edit: I'm not trying to be a jerk. I really don't care who sleeps with who/what. I just hate hearing how people hate being treated badly then bring it on themselves.  Just play... meet new people.. live like EVERYONE does aka: some people suck and some people are nice. Sometimes you meet people that turn into your best friends sometimes you meet people you hate. Don't put a rift in a community that wasn't there to begin with, don't go out of your way to start trouble under the guise of preventing trouble. This could have been avoided with just a post of "looking for nice people who don't scream or curse or whatever when playing." Or something. It didn't have to yet again bring up sex.

And seriously... you complain when people use the gay word as in "Thats gay!" You want to be treated normally like any person.. but then you have to say "gaymer" instead of gamer. We are ALL gamers, you don't need a special title.  Just be a gamer. The more steps you take to remove yourself from normal society the more you're going to be treated differently.  Be treated Equal NOT Different.

First of all, most of your post was either irrelevant or off-topic, so I hope you won’t be offended if I just ignore it…

Having said that, I sincerely hope you have fun “blowing up crap” with people, Ivy!
But that’s not the ONLY reason why *I* play Mass Effect Multiplayer.
I play because I want to have fun with people I have a personal connection with (i.e. met on the BSN, as opposed to just random gamers), share common intersts with and can get along with, which is why I created this thread.

Now, I’m not lambasting you for your play style or reasoning, so I’d appreciate it if you extend the same courtesy to me.

Oh and thanks for the bump! ^_^
You’ve given other LGBTQIA people (including straight allies!!!) a chance to see this thread and—hopefully!—limit their response to accepting my humble invitation to form teams of open-minded, levelheaded and like-minded individuals…instead of arguing about social issues.
