Oh God, I'm sorry Tali. So, so damn sorry. I never meant for this to happen...
Dammit, Bioware I'm a grown man. I'm not supposed to tear up at computer games!
Oh dude, I know.. I had to go back and re-do the mission(s) because I couldn't hold myself together as a human being.
I honestly thought it was for the best until the Geth started destorying the Quarian fleet. I had this sinking feeling in my stomach as I watched fire rain from the sky and heard Tali crying. Then she took the swan-dive, a Paragon interupt flashed up on the screen. I was hammering the trigger for all it was worth, my Shepard leapt for her hand and...
missed.
And left me stareing at the screen in disbelief and shock. Had a leaden feeling in my stomach for most of the rest of the game after that. Still do, to be honest. That whole scene, including the quiet "I'm sorry" was like a punch in the heart. Amazing, amazing writing, acting, everything. In a game filled with memorable moments, this was one that really stood out for me. Even though my character was never that close to Tali, she was missed for the rest of the game.

Yeah, I was in disbelief when that happened. I generally don't believe in do-overs, but that one was too much. Turns out, I didn't do the Rannoch fighter base mission before the main base assault, which sealed Tali and the Quarians' fate. I had to go all the way back to the beginning of the Rannoch series, which I consider penance for royally dropping the ball on that one, and watching her plummet to her death.

Despite the hurt, I'm actually glad I stuck with it as it played out. Makes the game far more memorable this way.

Even when she is an admiral she can't call them off. The only way to save her is the charm option, Rally the fleet.Phobius9 wrote...
I figured the tipping point was in ME2 where I failed to prevent her being exiled. I imagined that if she had been an admiral in my game, she would have been able to call off the Quarian fleet and everything would have been unicorns and rainbows.

Mordin
Thane
Legion
Anderson
By the time I saw Anderson die I was already so numb and emotionless after seeing so many friends die I wasn't too upset over it. O_O

I was both smiling AND crying. Smiling because I remembered his stupid song he already sang in ME2.Senario wrote...
Mordin T_T I never thought that his Scientist Salarian song could make me feel so sad in his final minutes D: *sobs*
Anyway, I cried for Legion to. Sacrificing himself, and finally accepting he was an individual, it was great. And Tali didn't die, she made peace with him, and even mourn him.
I didn't cried that much for thane, never liked him too much.
Oh, and I have the wall with the name of every death of the normandy crew. In front of the elevator (dunno if everyone have it, or only those who made the "normandy crash" dlc). Makes me cry everytime I read the name on it. Like the navigator from ME1, or the newly added name like legion and mordin.

I think I’d found Mordin to be the most tragic and the one that reminded me that even if I do everything right, I can’t save everyone. The Earth Child was the harbinger of that feeling, but Mordin’s sacrifice drove it home. I hoped that having him loyal from ME2 would ensure his survival and when that final interrupt flashed, my heart jumped for joy, but it was not to be.
Thane’s prayer had me crying, but his death was to be expected. I only wish the fight with Kai Leng was written better. I mean, I was right there with my companions, me, Commander ****ing Shepard, and I couldn’t do anything?!
Legion’s death was emotional, but not in the same sense as the other two. I knew that while he did sacrifice his individuality for his people, he would in some way still be alive within them. Tali’s final words for him were beautiful and that was great writing. Cliched to the max, but did elicit the intended response.
There were other scenes throughout the game that had me either tearing up (last talk with Garrus), crying (last talk with my LI, Kaidan) or pounding the desk in anger (Thessia, for example), but that’s a bit off topic, so I’ll save those for another thread.
And then there were the endings, where I cried for the franchise and the horrible, cheap, deus ex machina way it was going out and the way my Shep went out with it. He deserved better.

Mordin was also very sad. His search for redemption meant he was willing to going as far as to sacrifice his own life to save a race noone else really cared about. Have to admire that.
Btw, how many ending lines did Mordin actually have? Some talk about seashell, I saw one where he hums that litle melody of his.
In mine, he said (from my memory, not 100% accurate) "There. Genophage cure released. *deep breath* A new beginning....for all of us" and then the room blows up.
Too bad he didnt get more screentime in ME3.

Miranda
Mordin
Anderson
Thane
Legion
The top two both REALLY hurt when they didn't finish their lines, especially Miranda's last wish...UGH it was like a knife to the heart and a twist.

In ME2, if you investigated his interest in art and got the easter egg where he sings the full song (Parody of Gilbert and Sullivan), he will sing it during his death scene. Also in ME3 if you talk to him in the medical bay while he is working, he'll talk about wanting to retire on an island or something like that. Shep says he'd get bored and that's when he says "I'd run tests on the seashells."Cruiser18 wrote...

EDIT: One thing is for sure though. I think every nerd who heard that song and saw his death will sing the song with him in ME2 and finish it in ME3 because it's so heartbreaking that he doesn't finish it.

I thought Thane's death was wonderful, but I don't think I actually cried during it--it was more moving in an empowering sense for me.

I agree with you on Thane. It was still sad, but when you do the dialogue investigateVerethele wrote...
The end with Anderson and then Shepard struggling desperately to get to the console to fix everything and failing, passing out--just up until the elevator platform rises. I was sobbing. Same with Mordin and his seashells.

with him and ask him if it hurts, he basically says in a modest way, "It does on the really bad days." He was basically on his death bed from day one and had accepted that he was going to die. So you felt better knowing he wasn't going to be in extreme pain anymore and suffering like that.
