Hello .My question might seem quite lame but when i try to start the game from the lunch screenshot i and hit Play on the window that pops up i am redirected to an exe called Dragon Age:Origins Configuration Utility and it says it is loading my personal settings after which the window get closed and nothing happens.I tried a couple of times and its the same .Any suggestions how i can fix that?

i guess this is the one downside to getting the game early.

You might have to wait until tomorrow for others to play with the game and find a workaround, unless some person involved in development can help you. :/

I don't think anybody is paid to support the game for the customer BEFORE the game is released.

That configuration utility is supposed to come up on the first play. It detects your computer specs and sets the settings accordingly...it's the same on that was used on the Character Creator. If it is crashing or closing, there's something conflicting or something. It should just run the spectest, then give you results. Then you are able to make changes and save. Then next time the game runs instead of the config utility.

What is your computer setup? How is it you have the game anyways? Early copy or did you uh...get it some other ...means..

I would say post in the technical issues forum... but there isn't one [yet] :/ - most people don't have the game (especially on PC) so its hard to get feedback on bugs like this. The largest # of people that have the game on pc didn't necessarily get it the right way...

Try manually loading up the config utility and setting everything to minimum, and then try launching the game from there, are you sure you meet the minimum specs? Just a random suggestion from someone who hasn't gotten the game yet.

That's not his problem..he's already installed it..he's just trying to run it..and I don't think the admin thing is the problem here....although worth a try.

I don't have DAO yet, but I've had issues with Bioware's configuration utilities before (the one in JE just crashes for me) and the solution was to run the game directly from its .exe rather than the launcher. See if you can locate the .exe in Program Files and run it from there, or then create a shortcut on your desktop directly to it.

Set your computer clock to Tuesday and you'll be ready to go...or maybe not.

Yeah, it's a problem that I'm sure has a relatively easy solution...IF most of us had the game by now! lol

I'd say, try running the .exe file directly from the directory and if that doesn't work..try restarting your computer and trying that again. Also, yes, don't forget to run as admin if you are running Vista.

I am completely unable to run Mass Effect (on Vista) unless I turn off somekind of feature in the windows security center. Don't know if you could be having the same problem with this game.

The Fonz is way before my time, and I even get the reference...

In part, that's thanks to Family Guy though. Glad that show is around to give us young'uns some small amount of insight into the past.

You're likely thinking of the Windows Desktop Manager (WDM). I have Vista Business and every game I install I rt-click the exe and turn that off. Doing so essentially turns off the Aero interface theme to free up resources. When the program quits the Aero theme comes back on.
