I hate her. I want to gouge out her eyes, rip off her face and eat her heart after violently molesting her.
She is a vile, vile, vile woman.

Morrigan I ended up liking by the end. At first I thought she was just the "bad girl" cliche.. She's a mean spirited, manipulative, conniving wench.. and I denied her completely.. of every power play she could muster (I played a good guy and was suspicious of her throughout the entire game). But, I respected the way the character was portrayed.

Now Alistair.. Alistair I could leave rotting in a ditch somewhere. What a petulant little brat.

I don't much like her either. I don't hear anyone else mention it but I find Morrigan whiny. When I make a certain decision she just whines about how she doesn't understand. Just shut up $#$# and don't worry about it haha.

If you persevere with her (esp. give her the mirror gift) she does soften up a little bit. I kind of like her independence of spirit. She's not really evil as such, just coldly pragmatic - really a force of nature, like her mother, like the Wilds.

Yes, she really does soften up once you give her the mirror. I'm just curious as to what will become of Alistair's baby later. :P

*blinks* Shale/Shayle is a SHE and quite funny. On my husband's suggestion, I took her back to Honneleath (sp?) for the cut-scene...it was great.

Which, with the fact that I'm also a big Claudia Black fan, really made her memorable for me.

OMG, I didn't notice that Claudia Black did the voice. She's one of my fave Sci-fi/fantasy actresses. That adds a new perspective to her. My husband was so happy that Kate Mulgrew & Tim Russ were in the game also. I think they did a GREAT job with the cast!

I found Morrigan quite interesting in some ways, except her very weird and negative comments as i seeked allies (not just party) against a blight.

Like when we go seek aid from the circle she totally go awire when we encounter Wynne and goes on about circle zombies blabla. Which leads me to belive she is ok with the templars support aka the Chantry right? But that dosnt add up either when u talk about her past, flemeth and the fact she is herself an apostate.. lol. =o

Strange lady.

I've tried to find at least something to like in all the party members, even those I was predisposed to dislike. With Zevran, Sten and Oghren that was at least minimally successful though I can't say I'd call them friends. With Morrigan, that attempt fails. Yes, she has excellent voice acting, but I just can't get over how much I despise her. Her wh*rish outfit, the stupidly bloated lips, her attitude, her complaints -- it's gotten to a point where I wish I could just gut her on the spot and burn the corpse. I really regret having given her the book from the Circle Tower, in retrospection that was really bad RP, but I as the player wanted to see if I could warm up to her if she likes my character better ...

I like Morrigan. :)

I would have liked her character decisions/complaints to seem more coherent, but I like her all the same.

I totally adore Morrigan, For many reasons, Chief amongst them are that she's so unlike most woman in computer games in the way she's portrayed.

Lets face it, Computer games aren't really all that modern in their description of woman as a whole, Most of them are just eye-candy with stupendously enlarged mammary glands, But Morrigan actually Has a mind and is not afraid to speak it, This combined with a total lack of romantic experience makes her a brilliant character.

In fact Morrigan is just about the most modern woman you will see in any media, Shes a woman and she chooses something else above Love - if there is anything the media has thought us the last 100 years, The it is that woman will ALWAYS chose Love above all else - Morrigan doesn't ..uncanny really.

I guess that's the only positive thing about her, and I do hate it when female characters are only created to "fall in love" i.e. go all mushy-gushy-goo-goo over the Big Male Hero and lose all sense of self to become his little toy.

The problem with Morrigan is that two things get in the way of me having any appreciation for that "independent" side. One, her looks and the way she was/is used to sell the game. It really leads all talk of "strength" and "independence" ad absurdum because she's portrayed (as almost all female characters in such positions are) as a wanking aid, to put it politely. Two, she's so totally unlikeable. I just see her as a selfish, whiny, arrogant, hypocritical little a-hole who despite her alleged intelligence is extremely stupid in some ways. There just is no way for my character (or me) to build any kind of empathy for her at all. Never mind sympathy.

I don't like Oghren or Sten or Zevran, really, but despite being lesbian and preferring platonic female company, I "get" them better than I "get" Morrigan. At least a little. Morrigan is just hot air and naked ****** to me, and both of these "traits" ****** me off.

I'm honestly sitting here laughing. And what is it that Morrigan wants so much? That she gives up love for?

MAKING A BABY.

Yeah, a truly modern woman. Way-ta-go BioWare.

Come now, I think most reasonable people that would speculate would think that the reason Morrigan wants a baby is not because her biological clock is ticking and she just has to get back to the hut in the wilds to decorate a kiddies room.  She obviously has other motives I wouild think.

You can speculate as much as you want, at the end of the day, Morrigan is an amoral enchantress who plot centers around having a baby.

I like the character. Heck, I used her throughout my first play-through and enjoyed her even when she disapproved of everything I did, but 'evil, mystical, and wants your sperm' has been a popular depiction of women for millennia.

and that makes it bad? or it just makes it something that you dont like personally?

every character has been done already. a gutsy feminist who disapproves of everything you do because it's not forward thinking enough would have been just as cliche.

BUT Babies are a valid motivation Maria.

They make Sheryl squeal and fall out of a chair.

They make Mr. Gaider want to fry and eat them.

Jennifer Hepler even has one.

Babies are teh sekkrit to plot twists in every medium. As well as guaranteed to..Forget it I am not going anywhere with this.

I didn't like her, but "hate" is probably too strong a word. Her manner of speaking bugged me a bit (odd that the character who had spoken to maybe 5 other humans in her life had what we would consider the most elitist syntax and diction-- even the queen used a contraction every now and again, but the barbarian witch talked like an Austen heroine throughout). Her personality was rather presumptuous, and most of the humor that the writers used her as a vehicle for fell flat to my ears, but that's par for the course with the evilish/jokester Bioware characters. And I do have a natural prejudice against whichever characters that the writers use as a vehicle for their ridiculous fan-service "romances."

Also, am I supposed to know who this "Claudia Black" is?
