We weren't promised a happy ending.  But we were promised closure and player choices affecting the endings.  We recieved neither

I strongly disagree: a "happy" ending would be too cliched and hum-drum. Many of the sci-fi greats including the Mass Effect trilogy have had sad endings with a glimmer of hope (just like in this case). There's a reason that there is no "happy" ending: for every choice you made in the Mass Effect series, there is a cost, a sacrifice, something to lose. To give you a "happy" ending would betray the premise of the series.

Yes please listen to your fans. If we can't trust you to deliver endings that leave us feeling like the game was worth our time then we will spend our money elsewhere.

Without an upbeat ending, replayability is pointless for me. Why would I want to play ME3 again knowing Shepard is going to die no matter what I do? I don't want a bleak ending, I want an ending where Shepard and co survive the odds if you worked for it.

I like happy endings, but they seem to be out of fashion. :(

I want a happy ending.

And a bad ending.

And then a few more.

I want what BioWare promised and what the Mass Effect series deserves.

A happy ending should be a choice, something that plays can work towards. Bleak, bittersweet, and all out failure should also be a choice. Let everyone have the ending they think is best.

I want a happy ending.

I also want a bad ending, and a number of in-between options as well.

And I want them all to make sense.

Is that so much to ask for?

I support this, yes. Also speaking about happy ending. A presence of happy ending branch could really give an opportunity also for TRUE bittersweet endings. Like for example all is going in good way to defeat the Repears and at some point Shepard can do something to sacrifice him/herself in order to save several ships from joint fleet, perhaps even including Normandy. If Shepard does nothing, Reapers are gone, war is won but Shepard just lost all his friends and you would clearly see in the outro that he/she is not happy about that. Bittersweet ending right here. Or Shepard could sacrifice himself at the very end, saving even more hundreds of lives and becoming a legend with TRUE sacrifice and not some fake "sacrifice" made only becouse space god child told him so. That was an extortion, not sacrifice! Or you could just get truckload of war assets and save everything. Whatever you prefer in a CHOICE driven game. I, for one, would probably replay game several times in order to get all those different endings.

I fully support a happy ending for this trilogy, specifically for those people who want it. Some people play this game to escape the troubles of the day. Some people just want to be a hero and come out unscathed. I think the option should be there, and I definitely would have loved a happy ending for this game. I think this game deserves a happy ending. It should be an option in my humble opinion.

I think they should add a happy ending. This is just so wrong to have Shepard go through all of this pain and suffering (from all 3 games) and not even have a chance of little happiness? I know this is just a game and i should be happy that we got what we got, but I'M NOT. We have 3 choices that end up almost the same way (Shepard dying). Why can't Shep survive and some of the crew and LI be (not saying all) with him?
Thank you very much BioWare...I loved the game, but you just made 1 ending which a really, really small part of the community like..I don't even think i will play the game as much as i played 2. Knowing what will happen in the end will just kill my interest in playing it. I hope someone else is on my side with this..

I agree. Also, in a game where your choices directly effect your future experiences, it should be inherent that, if you make all the right choices, you live, and have a happy ending.

I support the option for a happy ending.  It would be nice to be able to complete Mass Effect 3 wihtout being angry, frustrated, or sad. I don't buy video games to depress myself, anger myself, or frustrate myself.  I play games because of the sense of accomplishment and progress you get as you go through or finish a game.

Mass Effect 3 made me feel like never playing a ME game again after I beat it.  I only was able to start playing ME3 multiplayer again I still can't touch the freakin' single player content.

I had hope cuz Bioware said they were going to change the ending.  Then the Bioware twitter dude says they aren't changing the ending they are just clarifying it.

I call shenanigans.  It is already well established just how many people are angered by Bioware's vision of mass effect 3's ending.  If they wanna keep the 3 gloomy craptastic endings they made fine...give us some other options though.

If not I'm done with Bioware.  Mass Effect is a choice driven franchise.  If they don't give me my choices it leaves me with only one.  Take my business elsewhere.

Image IPB  Give us the option to turn that frown upside down darnit.  It's not too much to ask.  Why can't Shepard just retire with his LI?  Saving the galaxy twice and destroying galactic civilization as we know it once outta count for something other than 1 week ending with different colored flashes of light.

Yes, because Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 couldn't end with triumphant, feel-good endings.

Give me a break.

I concur wholeheartedly, though at this point I would be satisfied with some closure and clarification from Bioware, however I fully support a happy ending. It just makes sense to me to implenent many possible conclusions in a series that has been focused on making choices and the consequences of them...sure the end goal is the same and it's a war story, but come on, a lot of people wanted to have a happy ending for their Shepard...why not include the option? I don't understand why Bioware didn't include the option of having at least a somewhat happy ending...they kinda dropped the ball thereImage IPB. I would've loved to have at least had the option of a happy ending, and am disappointed at the lack of one.

Yeah my family has had a hard last 8 years or so and my escape has been video games so when one slams me with a depressing ending out of nowhere it ruins the series for me. I play game to win not to lose. Please listen to you fans bioware. How would having a happy ending as an option hurt anyone.

Take a look at this idea I had,it would still have some sadness in it.
http://social.biowar...ndex/10543996/1

Also look at the case I made for a happy ending.
