I want a happy ending. Not perfectly happy, but i want shep alive with his LI, the mass relays and the citadels intact, and an awards ceremony of some kind. Past that, i really dont care. Though at thisnpoint, I'd like an ending that made sense.
I want this as well. Please, only the mere lousy option for one happy ending.

Awesome... this is
canon now... Shepard didn't die... the mass relays didn't explode...
Garrus did not randomly appear on the Normandy...
hmm... I like
to think Shepard was indoctrinated(sp?) and that after she "died" she
woke up in the hospital... Garrus holding her hand... yes... that's
perfect ending...
and if she wasn't indoctrinated.... well... Miranda, you know what to do...

Ugh, I really hope BioWare doesn't think that "Shepard + LI 2-gether 4-ever" isn't what we all were wanting from the ending. The problems with the ending have to do with the logical inconsistency and lack of variation in the endings. The problem wasn't that Shepard died or the LI was stranded on Random Jungle Planet with Joker, it was the way that all happened. There is an outcome in which those exact things happen, that is nevertheless a satisfying ending, but those things happen in the natural course of events, not just because somebody in a story meeting thought it would be cool. And they don't happen in EVERY ending. Really, BioWare gets this, right?
If what Bioware gets is that we want a logical sequence of events and a wide range of choices, then there's no problem, because the second problem takes care of the happy ending people (or it should).

I really think there is a reason a large section of the fanbase go to great lengths to ensure a perfect "canon" play through. That is, to avoid any of the unnecessary character deaths.
Happy endings can be artistic. Forrest gump, the princess bride (dear god do not read the sequel though), Stardust... I mean, does everything that is "artistic" have to be freaking depressing? No, no it doesn't. Hell, if the ending was bad like this but was happy, maybe not as many people would have cared as much. But as it stands, Bioware has destroyed all the characters and the universe that we love.

true, however, when you alienate such a large segment of your fanbase, the same people who normally would be more willing than other gamers to buy their games, you risk losing that business in the future. In fact it would not be just them. they lose potential customers as these angry fans, or former fans, would tell other gamers to avoid playing. basically it would be a ripple affect of lost opportunities and a substantial money loss

I really liked the Mako and exploration missions, of course for these I had small "walkthrough maps" because the areas were so HUGE to explore, but still... Getting close to a base with the tank, then on foot to shoot from afar, then getting into bases, the suspense when getting close to a "flat" spot and its terrible Tresher Maw and... and when it was turned into a scanning mini-game in ME2, I accepted this but was deceived.
I really liked parts on the Citadel too, combats and sidequests, all made me feel it was a big place with lots of stuff going on. That was well exploited to a certain amount in ME2, where I got to see new areas for the first time. But the overall size of all levels was not that of ME1, but, ok... Still great story, nice looking game design and such...
ME3 was the shortest of the 3 games : no Mako, no "hacking", and no level going close in range to those of the 2 previous games. Where I spent hours exploring for resources in ME1, minutes in ME2, it took so little time in ME3 it almost didn't count in playing time. Go there, click twice, grab and go. Hacking was a small distraction in ME 1 & 2, in ME3 Shepard mostly looks at his omnitool hovering over brackets like if he was looking at his watch.
What remains "common" to the 3 games, in my view, is Bioware's "signature" in the interactions, with excellent voice acting, animations and cutscenes, and... "choices". For the aspects I mentioned above, I was downed. And after reaching the end of the game, I was shocked, nothing less. Shortest game, many things cut out in gameplay, and space magic cutscenes to wrap it all. I felt "taken for granted" and nothing less. I'm a "completionist" player, and I don't liked being "pushed" to finish a game.
I'm really looking forward to see more substance on behalf of those who say it was such a "great game", especially if, adding to all that's been removed in gameplay, they "liked" the endings. I just can't believe that, unless ME3 is the only game they played in the series, without reading Codex entries : shoot and run.
So, yes, despite knowing how some may feel right about defending the actual state of things, since there was a "downgrade" in overall playing time and variety, I do now wish for a better, happier, Mass Effectier ending. I just bought all ME2 DLC yesterday, and after getting into the first minutes of play, I just felt out of place and stopped, knowing all I'm doing is unrelated to what's coming next, or to such a small amount.

Why not a happy ending? I don`t`need a 10 minute episode with Shepard, Liara and their blue children. Just show me how they come together after the war and I´m fine. This is also called closure
And make is hard as f*ck to gain.

Yeah four people have not bought the game because they figure if I didn't like it and I am such a fan then it has to be pretty bad also I am not buying any more Bioware or EA products.
Hold the line for as long as it takes to get new endings.

Probably want to see lots of little blue babies.
Not bashing here, on the contrary, I definitely fall into this catagory as well. It's just an observation.
And in case it wasn't obvious, hell yes I want a happy ending, don't care how hard I have to work for it.
I find it insulting really the idea that an epic story like this must end in some horrible way in order to be considered a proper ending and that somehow more tragedy and horrible grim darkness will somehow make these things better.
It's the reason why I love goth but hate emo. Goth folks like to be dark, but in the end they're still having fun. Emo is just sad and depressing with no value whatsoever.
