I support it, because why the hell not?
Even if it's "Happy" at least 60% of the galaxy is dead.

Me! Me!

I like happy endings. If I wanted bleak and sorrowful tales, I'd just turn on the news, y'know?

Video games are my escape, they're like my happy place. If my happy place turns into my unhappy place then where the hell do I go?

And so many people died in ME 3, just so Shepard could do what needed to be done. To have Shepard die with everyone else at the end, I can understand why there are those who appreciate that situation, but I don't get why there are people who don't understand why I would like a happy ending.

Also, this.

Happy not possbile, unless you just forgot billions of death.

JPR out!

Pretty much this.. even if Shep survives and reunited with her/his LI, with all the death toll surrounding them and the after math of the war I'd still count it as a bittersweet ending.

An happy ending involve to not destroy mass relays, just that and I would love the ending.

It was confirmed that rebuilding the mass relay is possible.

I have said it many times if you set up the story in a certain way it becomes an epic space opera where a happy ending is the only one that makes sense and fits what is foreshadowed.

Mass Effect 3 is a game that has billions dead and widespread galactic destruction before the player can even do anything. Expecting a happy ending from a game like that is like watching a movie about a terrible historical event (Titanic, the World Wars, the Black Death, etc) and expecting that to have a happy ending. I'd not only consider a happy ending in such a game to be far fetched but a bit insulting too.

Isn't being worshiped and revered for saving the galaxy for thousands upon thousands of years a better way to go out for Shepard than being reduced to an average citizen, paying taxes, getting stuck in rush hour traffic, etc?  Shepard has achieved a status most story characters can only hope to reach.

This status is absolutely impossible to reach if the hero does not sacrifice themselves for the good of everyone else.  Just like Harry Potter will neve reach Beowulf status.  Because it's a children's book, and children would be incapable of appreaciating the idea of Harry sacrificing himself to rid the world of Voldemort

My Shep really didn't give a damn about fame and glory. He wanted to have a chance at peace and making blue babies. :D

Star Wars had a happy ending.
Lord of the Rings had a happy ending.
Independence Day had a happy ending.

OK, the last one may be not a great example.
But it's not insulting or far fetched.

And you talk about real events. That's a si-fi story.

Uhhh...

Maybe you should study up a bit better. After WWII = baby boom. People celebrating. Lots of marriages, lots of babies. Yeah, lots of people dyed, the two world wars were awful. Didn't mean everyone sat around afterwards depressed and moping. The dead were mourned, but everyone else got on with their lives.

I support a happy ending. In an RPG with the potential of multiple endings, why the hell is this not possible? You want your grimdark, soul shattering ending? Take it, it's already there. You can go cry in the corner to your heart's content. But where's my ending? My ultra-Paragon Spacer Shep wants her reunion with Liara and then we can have an awkward dinner with MomShep. Obviously, it won't be that detailed, but still, where is the foundation for it so I can write my fics with the knowledge that it's at least possible that the above senario is canon?

Also, I want my blue babies, DAMMIT!

.....That vent felt kinda good....

I don't want happy, I want bittersweet. Some may argue there is some sweet with the current endings. There is, but the balance between bitter and sweet currently is out of whack.

Give me bittersweet (assuming Plotholes nonexistent) and I will be content.

Some people are just miserable. The reasons why people are against it include things like "it will lessen the threat fo the reapers" "WAR DOESN'T END HAPPY". To the first one: Not really they are big cuttlefish's of death.
To the second: I know, but this is a game. I don't want to be depressed by something that's ment to be enjoyable...

A happy ending should have been a possibility (without multiplayer), but what do you want so support here? Bioware won't change the ending, period.

I can't think of anything more boring for Shepard than to settle down with their love interest.

I'm sorry, but Shepard has the most advanced ship in the galaxy, war and fighting is all he or she has known, they've spent the past 3-4 years fighting the greatest threat the galaxy has ever known, and the galaxy is left in tatters and need fixing.

Its not feasible Shepard would just retire with his LI, and to me it isn't a good ending, nor is it a creative one.

An option for a possible happy ending I'm not completely opposed to.

But it's an extremely low priority compared to an ending that:

Makes sense.

Has more storyline variations

Has some semblance of closure about the galaxy left behind.

Hell, I'd put things like giving more focus to ME2 squadmates and LI's during the actual game as a priority over a happy ending.

For you. This is the thing though, different Sheps need different endings. My Shep specifically said he wanted to settle down and have blue kids IN GAME.

Real life military people don't just keep fighting their whole lives, they retire eventually.

He doesn't have to retire. Just give us the prospect of him staying alive and reuniting with his friends, whatever he does after that can be left to speculation.

This would be quite good.
