Hey all,

I'm considering making a DW Warrior on my next playthrough on the X360, which means that of course that the DEX bug is still in effect which creates an interesting situation dagger-wise. Which has made me unsure on the stat-point allocations seeing as DEX is pretty much useless when it comes to Damage. How much DEX should I be stacking until I can put all of my stat-points into STR? What are the key skills I would need to take in the DW trees? And also, are Daggers worth using instead of the full-size weapons?

Thanks in advance.

either you're thinking of the wrong class or aren't grasping the games concepts!

warriors don't use daggers. they aren't warriorly enough. as such, the dex bug is irrelevant.

you want 36 dex for dual weapon mastery, after that dump everything into strength. grab yourself longswords, axes or maces depending on personal preference and perhaps enemy type.

you definitely want dual weapon mastery and momentum. dual weapon sweep and whirlwind arent that bad, but you don't have a lot of stamina anyway so won't be able to spam them. unless you put some points into willpower, making you weaker vs. single targets but better versus packs.

oh and no, daggers aren't worth it. you aren't a backstabbing rogue.

Yeah, go Dual Wielding longswords, that's what I'm doing. :)

Aside from the fact that daggers have a 0.85 stat modifier as opposed to 1.00, they are equivalent to swords, really.

You can also mix them. Then you save 1 Talent on Dual Mastery, get an attack speed between the two and for the specials that use mainhand damage, you still get the Longsword damage (I think).

Dualing daggers -> 1.0s attack speed

Dualing swords or axes -> 1.4s attack speed, meaning all +x bonus damage are +x/1.4 increase in dps

Yeah, obviously go dual daggers if your aim is to maximize DPS. You only need 24 dex for momentum, you can easily get +6 dex through equips in order to equip t7 daggers. Thus the rest goes to STR.

And pre-patch, by far, daggers are the best weapons in the game.

Take for example a lvl 18 warrior with 56 attribute points. For DEX, he has +3 warrior + 1 human/dwarf origin + 4 fade = +8 DEX, meaning he only has to spend 6 points to get momentum.

Thus, you get for STR (assuming you're maximizing for it)...

+4 warrior
+2 berserker
+50 level up
+2 Andruil's Blessing
+2 helm of honnleath
+1 effort's gloves
+3 blood dragon armor
+1 heart of witherfang
+0 Life Giver
+2 Key to the city
+4 fade
+1 origin

72 STR modifier * 0.325 fluctuation * 0.85 dagger modifier= 19.9 STR damage

Assuming you're running Rose of Thorns + Thorn of the dead gods, the average base damage between the two is 6.2 damage * 1.25 fluctuation = 7.8 dagger damage

7.8 dagger damage + 19.9 STR damage +  7.2 lvl 18 warrior bonus + 15 runes + 8 Berseker + 3 Thorn of the Dead Gods bonus + 2 Rose of Thorns bonus + 1 bravery = 63.9 dps

Compare that to...
DEX dagger/dagger after the hotfix: 59.3 dps
STR Axe/dagger after hotfix: 54.9 dps
STR Axe/sword:  51.2 dps

Aha, I knew I wasn't just spouting crazy!

Thanks for the epic post DragoonKain3, but one question, I don't have any DLC so what helm and chest pieces should I use as replacements instead?
