Effectively what Mx_CN3 said. The only really big annoyance I found during the everything-but-the-last-ten-minutes segment was the journal, which is unbelievably unhelpful. For side missions, it will tell you something along the lines of:

Dr Nobody needs a Prothean Toilet Seat to complete his research. Obtain one from the Planet X in the Over There cluster, and return it to him at the Presidium Commons.

...And that never changes. If you've already collected the item, or when you do if you haven't, it won't update. It won't point to where he is. It won't mention that the system where you find the item isn't accessible yet, or update as a reminder when it is. Several involve collecting items from N7 mission planets, which are only accessible once. When you've got half a dozen or more of these things piled up, keeping track of which ones you've actually got ready to hand in, which you haven't finished yet and which you're in a position to complete is a massive chore, and I quickly just took to using the wiki to find out when and where to complete them.

The auto dialogue didn't bother me as much as I thought it would, mostly. It's a little inconsistent in how much there actually is, and I imagine is largely going to depend on whether Shepard says something you're happy with. What bothers me far, far more are the way character interactions aboard the Normandy work for the most part, which is to say "you click them and they spout lines, Zaeed/Kasumi style". There's still proper conversation style interaction with them from time to time, but there's a whole lot of not.

As a minor thing, it's perhaps a little too easy to alert the Reapers to your presence whilst scanning a system. Half the time, they'd pour in four or five at a time after one or two scans, and your only recourse is to get the hell out of dodge. Which, when you're trying to find a destroyed fuel depot for supplies to make it to the next system, only you can't actually see them on the map and have to fly around scanning for, is a little frustrating at times. But that's just me.

The rest is amazing.

Nope, assets don't matter still.

Entire final mission makes that very clear, that's part of the horrible part of this game. Then you realize the assets which are the life blood of this installment of the series don't matter in any regard and you realize the game is plagued from the get go.

The game is garbage . The endings make the whole game's story pointless and worthless . While the game play is better than both 1 and 2 . I give it a 6 .0

soo it's above average garbage? -.-

Tuchunka, the end sequence of rannoch, grunt. The game is filled with awesome. Disliking one part apparently means you have to hate the rest though.

When you realize the assets don't matter, it pretty much does taint the entire game since the game is about building up assets.

The bulk of the game is amazing, but the ending ... some people like it, a lot of people don't. You should judge for yourself, but no matter what theory you ultimately subscribe to there will be some WTF moments in the end.

The krogans and Grunt as well Miranda and her sister are the only things I like from the game . but yeah the ending made the game utterly pointless . It is garbage when the story is wiped out by the ending .

Despite certain... aspects, generally the game is of a very high standard imo.

Its just that those certain things drag it down, and for many players kill much of the replay value of the trilogy.

Other than that, it is the most polished and cinematic Mass Effect game yet. Love the game play, love much of the writing, etc. If only...

War assets were always an abstraction in my opinion. You're obviously not shown everything you brought to the table, the cutscene would be over an hour long at that rate. I do agree though that there could have been more distinct clips that show some of the major contributions.

I think the problem isn't so much that the ending is bad enough to colour how we view the rest of the game. It's that the consequences of what happens within the ending are so dire within the setting as to undo all our collective efforts over three games. I can't really say why without, y'know, spoiling the ending, but it's really that catastrophic.

Not that I share that opinion quite as voraciously as others, and I did love all the sequences you mention. Tuchanka in particular was much, much harder to make that choice on than I thought it would be when it was first presented. I loved it. But I can sort of see where people are coming from.

I agree, but there's a difference between ignoring them entirely and insinuating more are there and not being able to show them. I'll let you guess which case really happened.

As of now, ME2 is my favorite in the series when it comes to story. If the ending is changed, however, ME3 will unquestionably be the best in the series for me.

It was ok.There were great moments but there was some give me a break ones also.It wasn't just the ending for me.There was some plot holes that made me shake my head.It seemed like there was a lack of attention at times.I prefer 1 and 2 to it.The wow factor wasn't there for me.Now there are many folks they really enjoyed it.More power to them.I didn't.At times it would bore me to sleep.Other times it was awesome.I don't think the side quest were handled very well. The main quest were for the most part.A couple were what the flocks but on a whole really good.I did enjoy going from 30 something to lev 1.There are some bugs but haven't seen a game yet that didn't have them after release.

Let's put it this way: The journey is awesome but the destination is like returning to the Shire after killing Sauron and finding out that Saruman has polluted it.

Let my correct myself:
Let's just forget what happened after the Cerberus-headquarters. The only good part after that, were tha last talks to squadmates.

You're right, know why they weren't effective? Because they were IGNORED.

It's not that I'm optimistic, it's that our assets our FORCE that we spend 27+ hours building up so we can have a chance of taking back Earth is about 2% the size of what we actually could build up and what I DID build.

SO no, I am not irrational, this game was NOT COMPLETED because they forgot to factor in what I just spent 27+ hours building. Now if they remove assets entirely and just have you do missions for other reasons then fine, but that's not what I spent 27+ hours doing.

Maybe I am looking at this differently. I believe, sincerely believe, even if I could bring 100% of the entire galaxy and ressurect the Phroteans. Harbinger will still obliterate us. At most he would say "Shepard, you are really annoying!"

The war asset score tells me how successful I was rallying everyone. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE CHANCES against the Reapers! You STAND NO CHANCE AT ALL, period. It has been repeatedly stated throughout the entire game.

Actually based on dialog, points in the game, points in the series, and planet description... this is false, even in entries located in ME3.

Even in ME1 it was stated that having a unified fleet take on the Reapers would potentially make them lose, this is one of the reasons they go SURPRISE out of the Citadel ideally.

And this children is why we don't trust user reviews.

OP:

As other more level headed posters have said, the game is amazing. Easily the best in the series. Unfortunately the experience is somewhat bogged down by the disappointing endings (I didn't have a problem with the premise of the endings but rather their execution), the journal (no idea how they didn't realise how unhelpful it is) and the fetch quests.

If you are a well adjusted human being that doesn't fall into bouts of clinical depression from the last 10 minutes of an otherwise amazing game (I wish this was hyperbole. It isn't. Check the spoiler forum), ME 3 is a game that should not be missed. Particularly if you loved the first two.

Awesome game, ****ty ending.

'nuff said :P

Really though, they might...MIGHT...fix the crap with the ending, but the game's worth playing through at least once.

I saw it for myself. Also a good chunk of what I acquired were based at the crucible. I agree that the 'hammer' scene is weak but those are clearly alliance forces, other stuff is implied and in some cases stated that they're being used to buy time in other systems.

Again, not saying it's great, but I didn't experience a complete disconnect from what I did, and what happened.

Almost everything about the game was amazing. Decisions that players made from the original Mass Effect were still carrying over into three, and it did have an effect on some major parts of the game. The combat was great, even if I did hate the hell out of many enemies for using me as their little kill-plaything. The multiplayer experience is not some carbon copy of call of duty, and you can switch straight from campaign to mp in the blink of an eye. The emotions and situations you find yourself and other characters put in are downright incredible, and you find yourself caring about characters you meet for the first time (Eve for me). and characters you have been long time comrades with. (Garrus is the man.)

Short of all that, in the highest epitome of my joy for the game and the series, as many others before me have said, the endings are a kick in the teeth and a brutal wake up call from the fools paradise that players find themselves in throughout the series. When it comes to it blow for blow, there are no ultimate good endings presently. Each one of them has it's own unique downfalls, and all of them share a combined downfall in my opinion, but no spoilers, so play it, enjoy it, and make your own opinions.
