If Bioware could of done some measure of that alongside giving us closure then fine, but invalidating five years + of player work put into our stories for their artistic vision to secure what they think is 'unforgettable' is artistically very selfish.
This is not a new IP and single game they should selfishly be so experimental with, time is more precious than money (even though I have thrown both at Bioware) but I (we) have sunk hundreds of hours into Mass Effect - and Bioware don't take any of that (nor replayability) into account just to push and enforce their unforgettable ending.
Talk about selfishly concerned with game legacy.

EA: Has a harsh stereotype of ruining anything it touches.
BioWare: Seems to be coming out with a lot of excuses, It is my hopes that they have something planned while we sit here debating amongst ourselves. that a true ending DLC is there and free once more people have finished the game. However, I think the weight and impact the true ending would have had loses its weight as a lot of people are burned out by the turmoil they have been thrown in. I myself have been entirely burnt out and even if the true ending DLC is true. Makes me angry. As a gamer I get very involved with the story, I have not been a happy camper these past couple of days. So to have my emotions messed with like that is well played, but kind off a mind game as well.
Sales: Of the game are in the decline sharply as Amazon has cut the price already, People are canceling their orders, refusing to buy the game or downright returning them.
Multi-player: Stereotype here is that adding multi-players as a first time product to the franchise usually kills the initial story and takes a couple games to work out the bugs.
True ending DLC raises a couple of issues. If there is a true better ending, then the game we have paid for is unfinished. We will have to download something and if at a cost is kind of living up the the EA stereotype, that profits outweigh fanbase, The compelling story draws people in and gets them where they want them willing to open up their pockets to have the closure and choice they were expecting.
This will be interesting over the next couple of months to say the least, but BioWare needs to stand up and do something soon. Their fanbase is in turmoil, they are collectively amassing to change the ending, but soon that hope will turn into despair eventually people will make a choice and that is to shun Bioware and EA completely. Their stunt will backfire and any DLC they do will release will in large part sit on their servers being ignored. Its the point I am at.
We await your decision Bioware!

Am I the only one who didn't get the Volus joke?
As you know, the volus aren't an independent species. They are a protectorate of the turian hierarchy. While the volus tell us they offer great financial services, we know why the turians keep them around.
We krogan know that the turians only keep the volus around to stroke turian egos by giving mindless praise whenever the turian asks for a compliment. A turian's favorite thing to say to a volus is "Tell me again how artistic I am."
(If you remember what turian art looks like from Hock's vault in Kasumi's mission you will see why turians do this). In the same way, those of us who've seen the ME3 ending realize why EA needs IGN to wax poetic about Artistic Integrity.

Turian Sculptor: "Isn't my creation artistic? Everyone heap praise upon me."
Human: "It's errr... um... geometric."
Asari: "I don't understand it. Can you explain it"
Elcor: "*With great disappointment* It does not go with the decor I have been collecting for 5 years."
Krogan: "WTF??? IT SUCKS, I preordered this garbage"
Volus: "You sir are a master artiste par excellence. You other sapients just don't appreciate it"
Jessica Chobot reporting for IGN: "An epic conclusion."

Yes Urdnot Ratch, I agree the artistic integrity excuse does not cut it for me either.

Krogan do not have room for selfish primadonna artists. Thats more an asari thing.
