Update *** Monday 03-19 ***
Greetings class, It seems that I can't go fishing for the weekend without all hell breaking loose. Between Hudson's non-statement, the inflamatory tweet of Sunday evening and the subsequent firestorm and retraction we've much to talk about. However, I've not read the statement because PR statements make my blood rage. This evening we will reconvene the class with a special guest lecturer to parse the statements sentence by sentence.
What I will say for the moment is that it's clear that Bioware isin a confused panic. Individuals may be fighting a pitched battle to assign blame or emerge as winners in all this. It is like the Bloodpack when the Weyrlock clan was eliminated. Omega was a total disaster for months, who knew that vorcha fight for leadership by marking territory like varren. Ratch's Wares needed to cancel several weapons buying trips to Omega after our buyer slipped on vorcha excrement and broke his hump outside of Afterlife.

As promised I wanted to parse the statements with you however, I can not do so without eating a plate of raw meat and spitting half of it out in rage. Scheduling conflicts delayed this session. In a way, a delay worked in our favor cuz we have a chance to look beyond Hudson and the nameless PR feed's words. We can listen to our guest analyze of the Bioware GM and founder.
And now to let me introduce our guest lecturer: He is a noted linguist, fan of human culture and a friend of this school; He was a Chargez d'affaires for his people at the citadel embassies; and because I truly believe things have not truly been critiqued until they are critiqued in the voice of the elcor, please let me introduce bon vivant, asari consort customer, and lover of 'happy endings' Xeltan of the elcor.

Genuine Happiness: Thank you it is good to be on Tuchanka once again. Joking: though I thought what happens on the citadel stayed on the citadel. I Will need to speak to that turian general again.
Disappointment: It is always a risk to bring in a CEO (or in this case founder) to address a controversy because until this point he was above the taint of having worked on this project on a day-to-day basis. Prior to speaking, he could be seen as a fan. If the outrage continues, I hope for their sake that Bioware has not used the last of its big guns only to reiterate what Hudson already said last week. Perhaps Hudson should have said more to allow Muzyka to be held in reserve.
Scholarly detachment: I have followed the PR releases with interest. I will note that Hudson and Muzyka's writings are very similar in tone. Though they both mention Bioware's core fans both statements could be accused of being disingenous because they use a qualifier in the same sentence.
Authoritative: Since we are intelligent adults here I think we can infer that a professional PR handler is at work in crafting these statements.
Quizzical: However the twitter explosion of last sunday was anything but professional. It is as if there are two different factions handling this.
Mockingly: It is like watching a succession battle within the batarian hegemony. Or perhaps asari jello wrestling night at Chora's Den.
Scholarly detachment: After cooling down for a while, the artistic integrity defense and entitlement attack is once again being used to subtly denigrate the Hold the Line position. It is interesting that the gaming media are widely reusing this trope. Is there a EA/Bioware led effort in this area?
Whistfully pining for warm spring days on the college quad: She is quite a bit younger than the elcor you see before you. For me, many years removed from my college education, I can say that in the workforce the question everything ethos quickly disappears when paycheques are involved. I would hope that you youngsters out there and Jessica keep this ethos as long as possible. Would it be possible to not have to lose it.
Opinion: While I believe her in that there is no overarching conspiracy between Bioware and the likes of IGN. At a minimum the response in defending their product against fans grievances set the tone and encouraged the media in aggressively pushing the lines of opinion, (minority of entitled fans, artistic integrity).
Whistfully: Ironically this art defense will hurt art in games for years to come as publishers fearful of fans rejecting bad art will stop the risk-taking needed to create good art. An admission that the ending was rejected because it was bad would help future developers. However, it is not possible for Bioware to do this.
Scholarly: This is because junior staffers have sacrificed much on this project. Some of them may have even dissented on creative decisions but were outvoted, or not in position to seriously challenge their leaders. Now that dissenters have bean exonnerated by public opinion, a public rebuke of the leadership would create the sense that following their leaders is futile. As such, PR continues to project a vote of confidence just as GM Brian Burke conferred upon Ron Wilson as coach of my beloved Toronto Maple Leafs until the hours before it was withdrawn.
Genuine Frustration: It is now 2186 and I am beginning to believe the Maple Leafs will never win a Stanley Cup. Perhaps Bioware and the Maple Leafs could swap PR teams, MLSE is well-versed in masking fans' yearly disappointment in multiple sports.

I think this is point made by the esteemed guest lecturer is resonating the most with me. The statements, while couched in different language and let fly from a different PR-launcher, are surprisingly similar. It lowers my initial opinion of the Muzyka post made yesterday.

I'm hoping whatever new news comes out that we get more great commentary. It's been enlightening to see just how thorough Krogan PR is. I'd always assumed it just involved a lot of headbutting.
