(I hope this is the most appropriate forum... hmm.)

There's this one chest in the Circle Tower, specifically the Templar Quarters, that seems to be impossible to lockpick, and not because it requires a key. Has anyone had the same trouble as me? I went back after getting Lockpicking IV and pumping up my cunning to the high 30s and I STILL couldn't unlock it. I tried again with Leliana in my second playthrough, and she couldn't unlock it either.

I'm starting to wonder if there's some magical uber weapon or armor in there that I need to meet some hidden requirement for before it'll unlock.

Thats weird? On several of my saves I know that I for a fact unlocked every chest in that tower



Theres nothing uber in any chest in the whole tower , cept drake scales in that one chest which can be turned into something uber

I'm pretty sure I unlocked this chest with my rogue main, but I don't remember anything uber in any chest...

Well, the only drake scales I ever found were on the drakes I killed in the wyrmling lair in Haven, so maybe this chest I'm unable to unlock is the one that had drake scales in it. On my third playthrough, I'm gonna pump Leliana's cunning so high it'll be ridiculous, and then we'll see if that thing still stays locked!

PS: I was being facetious about there being something uber in it. After two playthroughs, I realize that it's mainly junk in pretty much every container you come across and every creature you loot.

I happened to have a save near there and just checked. In my game it is a 60, so if you have all 4 ranks of lockpick + 30 cunning you should be able to open it (my character has base 30 cunning so I took off all my gear just to verify).

Edit: oh yeah in that check there was a lyrium potion inside

If it's the one I think you are talking about. you just need a ridiculously high cunning score as well as maxing out your lockpicking skill. I have no idea why this is so because I don't remember the loot inside being particularly memorable.

Try going back to it towards the end of your playthrough when your skills and attributes are much higher to see if the chest will finally open. Hope this helps!
