This thread may contains spoilers from the game.

Let's assume for a moment that Duncan recruited all of the characters from the Origin stories. Your main character (whoever it is) and Alister were asked by Cailan to light the beacon and the rest of the characters are sent to the front lines; the characters that was sent to battle are your numerous alts from the origin stories, ranging from your noble dwarf, to your daelish hunter and everyone else in between. So the question is, what happened to them?

My city elf, although living in the Denerim alienage, felt homesick and deserted before the battle took place. As soon as the news of the battle of Ostagar flooded the streets of Denerim, my wife reported my desertion to the nearest guard and had me locked up in Howe's dungeon.

My mage was persuaded by Uldred and became one of the blood mages that tried to take over the Circle.

What's your story?

Well the Dwarf Commoner, is shown in game with other character playthroughs - He's still imprisoned in Orzammar. Admittedly, he's also dead, seeing as he gave up eating, but he's there.

The Dwarf Noble most likely perished in the Deep Roads and the erasing of him was total, seeing how there is no mention of him whatsoever, unlike the Dwarf Commoner.

There are lots of references of "the beloved second son of the king". The dalish, the mage and the human noble gets nothing though.

So you mean, the character you would have played in the other origins if you had not played this origin? Interesting. I wonder if that blood mage int he circle is you in another incarnation?

Well, like Ulrik said, both Dwarves are dead, the Mage most likely died in the Fade during his/her Harrowing, while the Human Noble would probably have died with his/her mother and father and the Dalish probably died from the taint somewhere with his/her clan. The City Elf probably died when he/she tried to kill the Arl's son. That's what i think anyway.

People, re-read the OP.. Throwmeaname is asking where would your alt's be (Mage, Noble/Commoner Dwarf, City Elf, Dalish Elf, Human Noble, whatever.) during the Battle of Ostagar if Duncan recruited them AS WELL as your PC, not where in the game they would of died..

My 2h Human Noble was trying to hold the flank but was over run when two Ogre's decided to join the party backed by the ever annoying Hurlock Emissaries.

This is a matter of perspective isn't it? Which playthroughs do you think of as your 'alt'...

I think my mage never would have left the Circle. After collaborating with Irving in the origin story, joining the Grey Wardens felt a little forced anyway.

Dwarf Noble is the one who saves Ferelden, gets named Living Paragon, etc.

They would all be fighting and die in the battle along with everyone else involved.

All dwarven characters are shown in the cinematic clip of the Battle of Ostagar. The darkspawn captured them early, lit them on fire, and catapulted them solely to destroy useless ancient architecture for dramatic effect.

Actually I think the human noble had already died on patrol at ostagar as that it is his/her hound that you can cure and be imprinted on, thats my thought and yeah the two dwarf origins are shown or mentioned

Here we go:

Dwarf Commoner Female – Became a living paragon is now head of her own house as well as ruling alongside the last living Aeducan.

Dwarf Noble Male – Currently leading Orzammar into a new golden age after the death of Harrowmont with the Female Dwarf Commoner as his Queen.

Human Noble Male – has returned with his brother to help restoring the family’s lands.

Elf Mage Female – is the currently “healping” Alistair with his new duties as king

Daylish elf Male – Returned to his people after all was said and done as well as Joining Lanaya for a time.

City elf Male – Settled down with Shianni.

And Finally my super duper haxx character that can learn every skill and spell, is currently searching for Morrigan.

And this my friends is how the game ENDS :)

As for the beginning they all survived and reunited on the road to loatherain:innocent:

If Alistair survived, that's a lot of demon babies.

Well, my sociopathic dwarf commoner rogue was hanging with the other Warden who survived the fight, who she later betrayed to Loghain's men so she could get away. She stayed low, then moved to the capital after the Darkspawn were defeated, taking advantage of the carnage, her dwarvish connections, and power vacuums in the wake of the invasion to set up a criminal empire. Was eventually killed by her second in command and lover.

My Dalish elf, smooth talker that he is, missed the battle due to oversleeping after a night with the nurses. After the loss, he returned to his Dalish tribe and became one of the 50 if you sided with the elves.

My mage, power hungry chump that he was, used the uprising in the Circle to escape from wherever the Templars had him imprisoned prior to the Tranquilization. He went down into the basement to get the staff again, as well as other objects of power, stealing the key and further sealing the door with magic. After gathering up the necessary items, he made a mistake, accidentally activating one that summoned a demon that killed him, coincidentally right around the time the player finished playing with the 4 statues. The demon exited the basement door once the player's touch dispelled my mage's magic.

Actually, I operated on the theory that the Dragon Age game covers six parallel universes, the divergence point for the timeline being where Duncan went and which one of the six origins that Duncan recruits.

Granted, we see references in-game that the events of all the origins happen regardless. Its just that without Duncan there, the other five from you die. The City Elf and the Dwarf Commoner get executed, the Dwarf Noble dies alone in the Deep Roads, the Dalish Elf dies of the Taint, the Human Noble is killed by Arl Howe's troops as he emerges from the escape tunnel (the ones surrounding the castle on the outside, that Duncan says he'll help you get past), or the Mage ends up having Greagoir sentence him to the mage's prison for (however inadvertently) helping a maleficar destroy his phylactery and escape.
