It was a complete disaster for pleasing the fans, while if they'd done some proper work into it, they most likely could have gotten away with the picture instead of an in-game character model for un-masked quarians. If they'd have done some proper work, got an actual self-produced image, and then worked around that, they could have pleased a lot of people. No doubt on the matter, it was a difficult bill to fill, but if they'd have at least put some effort in, used fan-art to gain some inspiration and view what people want to see, then this would have worked out rather well in their favour. Instead, we can add it to viable reasons to dislike what they did in the game. I pray that in future releases of the game, they at least put some proper effort into it.

Side note: as far as I know, they're the ONLY alien race to have hair, if the picture is to be considered canon (which I hope they don't. Hell, go deniable all you can Bioware)

Hell, If they used the fan-art that has been coming up loads, Tali'mancers (Like my-self) would drool.

Which is what they should have been doing. Millions of fans showing their thoughts on the matter and giving fan-art which people LIKE, is obviously going to be a better idea than "hey, look at all this fan-art, let's go our own way and risk p**sing off the Tali/Quarian fans! Any ideas? I say we use a google image and photoshop it, that'll totally work in our favour".

It's like they're deliberately trying to irritate as many people as they can.

That and she's hot. I think they should show us her induction port too.

the only reason tali's face was included was because fans asked for it.

Why half-ass it? Either commit to it or don't. Don't just give us something shoddily put together last second as it seems like they did.

I agree with this.
It's a trivial thing really, I was kind of worried what she'd look like, and this kind of made me feel content with what was given. There are bigger issues at hand, WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO THE ENDING?!

I disagree, just because the ending was insanely bad, doesn't mean we should overlook other problems with the game.

I don't know, too many get hung up on the endings.... Before reaching there, there were a number of parts were I was upset, or at least facepalmed. If we say "We want the endings fixed but everything is perfect" and we get it fixed, any complaints after would be boiled down to "We can't make these people happy"... Whereas if we address the issues, it may be a multi-front war; but it shows that we can objectively judge the game on it's merits, rather than our emotional responses.

I like the look, even if it's based on a stock photo. Quarians are supposed to be remarkably similar to Humans anyway, just with some radical body differences and the fact they are "dextro".

My gripe is that there was no general unmasking/3-D modeling of the girl in the photo. And I think the photoshop, while serving it's purpose, could have been touched up a bit better.

 I shouldn't be surprised this is still being talked about, but the outrage over this confuses me.  They took an image from a royalty free site and used it for their own needs....which is what royalty free sites are pretty much for.
Okay, yeah the fingers were a lousy job.  I could see how that would be irritating.  It might be worth on eyeroll.

I don't get the magnitude of the outrage thoiugh.

My anger is at the fact when they said they would reveal her, they also said they knew what she would look like, and had concept art already on her.... So instead of modelling(Which is fine to skip since it costs time and money), we get a poorly done photoshop of a stockphoto. It feels like it's another lie we were told, considering if they had concept art already art, one can argue they'd either use that, or create a new photo from scratch. It seems more like a rushed last minute edition, rather than any "Fan service", or good game development in any sense.

I love Tali, and I didn't mind it that much. Out of the things that bother me in this game, it rates maybe a 3 out of 10 (the ending is a 12 out of 10 on the dislike scale).

She was never going to be ugly as you can make out the nose and eyes very human like in feature. I figured they would have scales as Grunt points out Quarians are a bit harder to cut through that Humans and Asari.

I would have been happy never seeing Tali's face, but if it had to be shown I would have liked the Quarians to look like the amazing concept art and not a photoshop where Quarians look like normal people and are purple.

They never released it to the public, nor is there any reason they would, they just mentioned it in like the third Tali thread.
