My thing is how long to they think they can continue to see millions of copies of each game if each new game makes the fans angry and then they treat the fans like dirt?

I want to defend BioWare here a little bit. I don't feel like they've treated the fans like dirt. I think they listen to the fans and make reasonable attempts to satisfy us. They gave us Lair of the Shadow Broker, for example, because fans wanted more Liara.

I think one of two things happened. 1) They were rushed to distribution and couldn't give us a proper ending, or 2) they made a bad call by trying too hard to give us an unpredictable ending. Really, it was probably a combination of both. In any case, I think they made a mistake. They failed miserably. Now I just hope they fix it. Remember that 98% of this game ws truly fantastic, and until they completely ruined the ending, it would have easily been the best game to date on the Xbox. They just made a bad call.

The baseless "Blame EA" line is quite tired and unproven.

We know the quality Bioware is capable of because we just played through it. We know Bioware can do it. It's hard to defend them.

Damn it...

This is killing me that such a great game has to suffer because the creators were lazy, full of themselves etc.. to make an actually ending to a game that was superb until the last 5 minutes.

Its sucks that all the great moments that ME 3 have are now over shadowed by this ending fiasco but its because of  that... we hold the line.

I feel like i waisted a lot of money on this game. I bought the ME3 collectors edition, the art of the mass effect universe, and the collectors guide for ME3 all for a game that was horrible. I basically threw away $160 towards a piece of garbage.

I'm holding onto my copy, if only to remind me of the disappointment Bioware has instilled in me.

Can we get some photos?

Also, didn't EA intentionally make Origin to screw over Gamestop? So, maybe they'd be interested in sharing some returns or trade-in statistics to rub it in EA's face?

Pretty please!

Easy to claim such happening, but no showing of proof of it makes sound like propaganda.

Why would Bioware mind so much if you people sell their games. They already bought it and Bioware got that money, Bioware gets also some money whether new or used via online pass/DLC on a used/new copy. 3.5million+ shipped and expect to see that number rise drastically over period of coming weeks since adverts have started appearing on TV for the title. In the end this will be and has so far been their most successful title in the series sales wise. People are so dam quick to threaten or claim doom and gloom, end of the world or end of Bioware for simply not enjoying the games the buy. They will be proven wrong with ME3 sales.

Except the adverts all say something akin to : Take back Earth.
When people hear they're not going to in any way ...... chances are some might not be swayed by the advertisement.

What are you talking about? I did complete it and I did take back the Earth for other members of my race.

They're gonna feel like idiots if BioWare has something big planned.

That's all I'm gonna say.

How? If they release DLC to fix the ending and charge money for it, the ****storm will be unprecedented.

You don't reward a developer for ****ing up the ending.

eheh thats for sure. Anyway if they admit their fail and do as Bethesda released the DLC Broken Steel wich correct the ending and add on a huge new mission and world parts, maybe one can forgive them even if I have to pay for it....
But so sadly anyway they totally failed the ending. I dont see art honestly, just an unfinished game, with main writer giving up before end of the game... and disconnected from the plot itself. For example The Kid IA in the Citadels is totally out of context and in contrast with all the trilogy. The Crucible is a massive energy Weapond not who know what....... they are many suggestions for that in ME3 itself too... !!!

Uh, really? Do you realize they can make more return off the DLC then off the initial game itself? Returned copies = less consumers for DLC. This generally also effects their marketing outlooks for future products, and in turn effects their budgets (as they might feel their return will be less) making them cut corners, rush products and make crappier titles. If you're going to apply a 10th grade economics mentality to this, then just go away.

The worse thing is that Hudson should know all the plot and know how this ending is disconnected from it. How he had approved such mess ? He was a good Project Leader, but not now ? Damnit EA !?

When i say that Bioware is treating us like dirt i don't mean the ending treats us like dirt(it was a bad call that ruined the series for me)what I mean is that there response to our complaints and politely explaining what was wrong with the ending and why we want it fixed has been to just say we are too stupid to understand the ending. Look I have worked in retail and if there is one thing you are told on day one it's no matter what don't attack the customers. Now you may not be able to give them what they want but in that case you explain to them why things are the way they are and why you can't help them with out being rude. I can't imagine any other company reacting the way Bioware has and expecting people to continue to give them money.

The ending was horrible, but the game itself and the multiplayer are still fun. Playing a Silver or Gold challenge with friends is great, everyone freaking out about the Bosses, coordinating during rushes (They're coming from the right too!, Fall back!), and generally working together and panicking is pretty fun.

The single player is amazing right up until the end as well, only a few minor complaints other than the final minutes.

Yes but GS does not normally mark down one of the biggest releases of the year just a week after it's release.  normally it takes months for the price of a game to get knocked down or to see more then a few used copies.  I can't think of another time when I have seen a game get marked down in so many stores so quickly.  Add to that the fact that pretty much every poll about the game says around 85% people hate the ending and EA's stock going down and it all points to people not being happy with the game.

investor.ea.com/stockquote.cfm

This si not the sort of thing that normally happens this type of tittle.  Normally GS is able to keep used copies of a game like this marked up at $55 for months in just a week they have marked it down to $43,that is not good for Bioware if they hope to sell more new copies or DLC.

I wonder how long it will take the internet to make articles about ea's stocks suddenly dropping.

If this happens widespread we may not get a new ending but the next time a game developer tries to be "artistic" they may put a little more thought into it.

Oh, so artistic is how they're playing off shoddy writting and gaping plotholes. Interesting.

Returning to a store is irrelevant, it is not like you are taking biowares money.

Just to clarify.

Also stock doesnt mean much without other things, but that is beyond this conversation, all i will say is that if the stock drops, someone will find it a good deal and buy it up again.

Do you really think this has something to do with the ending? If people are returning the game on the scale that's being claimed, then then I find that rather unlikely.

Roughly 50% of the people who started Mass Effect 2 finished it. (http://www.destructo...ng-188362.phtml) Bearing in mind that the game has really only been out for about a week now, do you really think that the mass COD game buying public has had the time (or motivation) to get even halfway through the game yet?

And of those casual players that make up a substantial population of the game's players, how many actually care enough to angrily return the game? I'd wager not many. Obviously we're exposed to a lot of negative feedback / spoilers about the game because we've all been on the message boards. Most of the gameplaying public won't have actually done that. Infact, I'm sure most of them (IF they finish the game) will probably be indifferent to the ending. A lot of reviewers even liked the ending, and for the most part their opinions will be representative of the vast majority of gamers who are unbiased and not part of the fandom.

It's more likely that a few people are returning the game, and that this amount has been exaggerated by people who particularly hate the endings.

Whether the ending was (apparently) an insult to the fans is a totally different question.

And anyway, we all still love Back to the Future despite [SPOILERS] Doc's stupid magic flying train and his hypocritical lore contradicting nonsense at the end of part 3, right?

Feel free to refute my claim though.
