Interesting comments, though why the company can't be named is concerning. As well as the fact that the original poster believes they have to relegate the fact they are not a "fanboy". One's status in society has no bearing on intelligence...
That's not really fair. Some companies have non-disclosure agreements and the OP may not want to throw that company under the bus just because of his/her personal experience with them.

They listen to fans 20000% of the time. Best company ever.
And Witcher 2 shows that.
Anyway, props to OP for talking the truth.
Hold the line.

I would also still count Bethesda as being one of the good ones, especially after just a couple months giving the fans everything they could possibly want to mod Skyrim to their hearts content.
Beyond those two though...yeah i can't even think of any game studios that I have real respect for. Bioware used to be the other...

I don't specifically name the company because in the business world if you become known as someone who doesn't always support 'the company' you can find it very difficult to secure employment in that industry and I have car and mortgage payments....
Well at least you didn't sell out your pride...head high my friend...head high.

MOO3 was a flop. It was a flop because the developers put their egos ahead of Business 101. They wanted to prove that they were smarter, better, more creative than their market, rather than succeed.
Bioware/EA seem to be going down the same path at this time. Someone inside BW/EA fell in love with their own idea of how the story should end instead of paying attention to the people wou would be spending their money on the game. From 5+ years of history, it should be obvious to everyone that people liked ME because they got to be the hero and save the day. It was made even more appealing by having relationships with the other team mates that were more than basic game mechanics. It enhanced the personal identification with the main character and the entire world that had been created in the game.
No one could have missed this aspect to the psychology of the people who enjoyed the game. If BW/EA really did miss this psychology, then they serve to go down in flames for being completely naive about the basis for the appeal of their game. (Actually, given the way that ME3 was marketed and hyped, BW/EA clearly knew this was the appeal of the first two games, so I do not think they can claim they did not understand this).
Then they ceate ME3 with all the hype and expectations that one could reasonably expect. Then they sucker punch everyone by denying any possibility of the outcome that everyone knew everyone wanted. Now that they are being called on this, they are spouting rhetoric about "we know better and you're just am entitled whiner".
Well, what do they think will happen when they put out their *next* game? Do they really think that they can espouse this type of arrogance and disregard for the people who are paying their salaries and not have it impact the sales of their next game?

Well, now I've seen the ending. And it broken the experience for me. Sorry, BioWare, but you've dropped the ball, and big time. The Mass Effect trilogy has been one of my best gaming experiences ever... up until that finale. I don't want to get emotional - I tend to do that over the games, movies, books and other works of fiction I care about (even if it is a bit stupid) - so I'll just leave it here...
Please... Fix it.
Patch it, issue a DLC, issue a statement declaring that all the three endings and the conversation to the you-know-who are actually an effect of indoctrination and the real events ended at the moment you've entered the spire of light... I don't care. I just want to know that in the real ME universe - the official one - it didn't all end like that. That this wonderful story didn't sink in plotholes and lack of logic, that my Shepard didn't behave like he was someone else's, but for sure not mine.
BioWare, I love you. But you really have to fix this mess.

Anyway, it's a good read and a good general rule of business. This is actually the main point that Forbes brought up in its article - that listening and cultivating a relationship with your fans/audience is simply good business. Being evasive, dismissive, or heaven forbid, hostile, generates a negative loop that not only loses you loyal customers but denies new customers via word of mouth. Even that whole forum hate bombardment that happened recently had the ultimate root cause of poor customer relations from staff. Professional and kind treatment of individuals would have mitigated that away entirely.
Individuals such as Gabe with Valve are a good example of how to do it right. Everything I've seen from that man has displayed that the man is accessible and understanding, and when something goes wrong (such as when their forums were hacked), there was a humble and detailed apology and accounting of the situation.

On the subject of fan loyalty, however, they are certainly one of the best.
Oh, I should add..... Vote no on Fallout MMO!
