I, as many others, found the end to the Trilogy quite underwhelming and ... well .. it just doen't "fit".
i wasn't excpecting roses and bunnies, but I was exp[ecting something EPIC. Even if that meant Shepard dies.

I would love for this to be true. Ive always been a fan of bioware, and have purchased games simply because Bioware made them, knowing it would be good even if I really didnt know much about it.
At this point, Im not too sure anymore. But that doesn't mean my opinion wont change, depending on how this is handled.

At any count, for the moment Im going to hope that Bioware has something big up thier sleeve, and give them some time. Just going to hold my tongue for a bit.
But, I'm also going to hold the line and will not be purchansing extra content at this time.

I guess the more I think about it, the more I do not understand why they would promise things & flat out lie about what to expect and give us what we got. Thats HORRIBLE buisiness.
And though I do not really like EAs buisiness models, I do have a respect for thier customer service to a degree. Meaning, they have always been helpful and tried to do the right thing for me, or attempt to put things right. So that gets a +

AS mentioned before, they said ME3 would be the End of Shepards journey, but they didn't say that end would be included on the disc.
Also, the mention of DLC was a punch to the gut at the end ... BUT ,.,. DLC doesnt always need to be paid for.
Maybe Im reaching, but a planned, free DLC such as this could have been in the plans all along.

Who knows... maybe EA was pushing a release date and Bioware wasnt ready or satisfied. So this was thier "Solution"

As much as I want to believe this random unconfirmed internet post, I am still possessed of a mind not entirely devoid of logic therefore I simply can't.

I admit the evidence presented in conjunction with the ****tease tweets from the various Bioware feeds does give significant grounds for hope, however, it is far better in this situation to simply assume the worst (that this is the final ending, and all their "hold onto your save" lines are simply designed to facilitate selling unrelated DLC missions like retaking Omega). That way you won't be sucker punched again, and will save some money not buying DLC missions that are an exercise in futility.

If something appears too good to be true, it almost certainly is.

Knowing that so many people are upset over this...

This seems like easy prey for trolling and tricking people.

It's a good idea to doubt stuff like this...even if it's legit once in a blue moon.

Unless you love getting your hopes crushed.

It makes total sense that EA would have pushed the release date, got the ending leaked, and so Bioware came up with the best solution they could to "save" their game from an artistic standpoint. If we do get some sort of ending DLC, and it's still a big IF, it had better be free. Charging the fans for the true ending would likely be the end of my relationship with Bioware.

New True Ending All Along
A few hours ago an anonymous user who leaked the multiplayer DLC
(just an hour earlier) has claimed that the ending fiasco was deliberate
because of the game’s storyline being leaked. They changed it so they
could have more time to prepare the real ending DLC.

It is called “The Truth”, and will be released in April
or May… You will be able to continue your story if you picked any of
the endings. Your decision during the sequence will have a big effect on
the ending of The Truth. Also, The Truth adds two new
sets of enemies, new classes, and multiplayer maps, including “Firebase
Hive”, which is a small area of the last remaining Collector Ship included in the DLC, which, by the way, you should definitely bring Javik the Prothean along if you have them.

The following picture shows some of the leaked multiplayer
classes and races. One race that isn’t shown is the Prothean Adept and
Vanguard. This DLC also, enables the ability for owners of the preorder
and From Ashes DLC to find their DLC weapons in reinforcement packs.

All of that content, and this might as well be labelled an expansion.
And it’s Free!

http://masseffect.wi...LC_Revealed!!!!

Sure it is a rumor, but the multiplayer stuff this guy leaked turned out to be true. Why not this?

I have quite a few reasons for believing this.

1. I trust Bioware. They must have known this ending would ****** off fans. It seems completely plausible that they didn't have enough time to finish the ending which is why they would release it months after.

2. Bioware seems awefully quiet lately. I bet they are actually still WORKING to get the dlc out right as summer hits. This also explains why we haven't seen a patch for all the glitches like the character import issue (which I'm still mad about). They probably have a list of priorities and that ending is on top.

"Hardest. Day. Ever. Seriously, if you people knew all the stuff we are
planning...you'd, we'll - hold onto your copy of me3 forever."

I'm sure lame multiplayer DLC, Galactic Readiness DLC (taking back Omega for example), or an epilogue to show what happened to Earth and the stranded squadmates won't make us want to "hold onto me3 forever". They probably know that too.

3. Too many hints that it is all just hallucination/indoctrination. Bioware is way too good of a company to leave plotholes the size of Texas in the final installment of a trilogy. Sure Dragon Age 2 may have had problems but look at all the other Bioware games. KOTOR, Jade Empire, Dragon Age Origins, Mass Effect 1 + 2, etc. Terrible plothole ridden endings isn't their business style.

The ending where Shepard wakes up under a pile of rubble isn't possible if the ending wasn't a hallucination. Shepard would have been vaporized by the explosion of the citadel. There is no way he could have just landed on Earth unscathed.

4. If by the love of Satan, Bioware actually plans on leaving the ending the way it is and only adds expansions like extra missions to do (Overlord, Firewalker, etc.) then EA will lay the smackdown on them. Already, Bioware/EA is losing money (or not making as much as they could) because the prices are falling, people are trading in the game, and all this bad press is probably stopping people from purchasing the game. Not to mention, any "NON-ending" dlc will probably not be purchased by the majority of the fanbase.

If there is money to be made by making a new ending for fans, EA will be sure to exploit it no matter how much pride/ego Bioware has.

There is no confirmation for any of this. But if you want to be pessimistic and believe that Bioware just destroyed an entire franchise then go ahead.

Me? Well I don't believe Bioware would sacrific their wonderful universe, their fans, and their profits in order to please their ego/pride. That's not how a business like this works.

I am praying you are right... and that scares me.

I believe in this DLC, because I believe that BioWare is a company run by really, really smart people - people that know their art and know that leaving 70%+ of their fanbase dissatisfied is just bad business. It's not only about art, or satisfaction, or storytelling merits - it's about business and customers returning for their "fix", for the product they know they will love. And at this stage we can all seriously agree (based on statistics and the vocality of the outrage alone) that the last "fix" was tainted at the very end and we all require a bit of remedy here.

Lets put this in perspective. People are actually *hoping* that Bioware was "smart" enough to screw over their fans. That's what I am hearing. They are hoping that BIoware held back a real ending from the game so that they could sell it to them later on. And that doesn't seem absurd to anyone?

Well, according to this fairy tale, it would be free.

That's what really doesn't ring true to me.  I have no doubt that they will be putting out DLC, but I do not believe they're inclined to give us any DLC for free ever again.

I'd love for the rumor to be true, but at the same time I can't believe it. For starters, the implication is that they released an incomplete game; why else release this new DLC--the finale of the game--for free? Why not announce something in the meantime, to prevent the rash of game returns that have happened?

And why rely on DLC as a delivery system for the TRUE end of the game? Not everyone will have Internet access to be able to download it. Obviously most of us do, but a lot of people on XBox don't have Live service (I'm a PC gamer).

If they do, I will be happy that they actually did have a conclusion planned for the game, but considering where your endgame save takes you (back to prior to the endgame mission), I find it hard to believe. The game does feel incomplete to me. Like we were supposed to see more happen--the results of our actions, the LI and friends mourning if we happened to die. But to release such a DLC would be a less-than-tacit admission on their part that they'd released an incomplete project to the public, and that would look tremendously bad for them. I've also seen the Casey Hudson interview, and an article that stated some fans would be angry at/unhappy with the ending (more like most of us, actually).

I guess I'm not really angry about the ending, but I am tremendously disappointed and saddened. I grieve for what it did to the series. But, well, it's just a game. Even if it did remove my taste for playing games, at least for a while. If what we got was truly the end, then eventually we're just going to have to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and move on.

For now I'll hope, but only with hesitation. Maybe Garrus is right and it's better to expect the worst. Then if something good happens, you can always be pleasantly surprised.

Ironically I think the marketing people are stuck in their own Mass Effect decision.
Original planned Idea release DLC before the true ending DLC.Dilemma public outcry about original disk endings leading to not enough sales for DLC, with no public knowledge of true ending DLC who wants to buy knowing that Shepard's fight is fruitless, hell who wants to play another play through for that matter.Problem public looses interest in single player and multi player.Possible solution leak info about true ending DLC even if there is no DLC whose to say otherwise we didn't make an official statement.

Its all about money folks and this is EA we are talking about,if marketing is behind the decisions expect anything.

Even in that make believe land that still means that they released an incomplete game at launch and that the only way to get the whole thing is to have the internet. And in most people's version of the idea we need to have chosen one and only one of the three choices at the end in order to continue.

No matter how we approach this it isn't something we should be hoping for and certanly we shouldn't be "trusting Bioware" in this manner like some people say we should.

One other thing to think about when considering a free DLC ending download released worldwide ..

ME3 was not released worldwide. It's had a staggered release in different markets.

Could one of the reasons behind Bioware holding back the ending be because of this? .. an anti-spoiler measure designed to prevent those who were able to play first from ruining the experience for the rest of the world?

Could they be trying to be .. fair?

This is why so many of us have also been discussing the reaction Asia produces. The game had its midnight release in Japan only a few hours ago, so we have to wait to see what they think.

The European markets seem to have the same feeling as us already

Lol people still complain about internet connection being needed.

On the off chance your provider derps and you cant play for like and hour or so, if you don't have a steady connection, you probably shouldn't be buying toys.

I know that Bioware doesn't read all of the threads, but if there is any chance that they read this one, I do have a message for them: THIS is how you win back your fan-base.

A huge dlc...actually, no, this would be considered an expansion, with a fulfilling ending and all these missions/multiplayer stuff for FREE?

I know that I speak for many when I say that, with a gesture like this, my faith in Bioware would be completely renewed. Many fans would still be sore that they had to wait this long, but in the long run, they would all come around. I know that if this happened, I would gladly purchase all subsequent paid dlc (which, if they asked me to purchase at this point, I would laugh and walk away)

And, if you did this specifically as a way so that everyone is surprised by the endings (because of the leak) then know that you all would be remembered as the Gods of the RPG genre

Make it happen Bioware!
