Honestly if this is true, I think it is absolutely brilliant. Maybe its just me, but this would be the single greatest thing I have ever seen (I am going off the indoctrination theory here). They would have successfully fooled everyone...which (since you ARE shepard) is exactly what would happen, you/shepard wouldn't know. You are supposed to think its real, thats the whole point to indoctrination.
But thats just my opinion.
Of course this could very well be fake as well, but I can hope...

Some twittering with the devs - are we trolled or they are up to something that will blow us all away?

User 1: "I still want to believe you guys are sneaky trolls and have something going on you don't tell us yet. Can I get a cryptic reply?"
@masseffect: "The sun, it shines. www.youtube.com/watch"

User 2: "You are either a massive sadist or a beacon of hope."
@masseffect: "Can't it be both?"

User 3: "I kinda feel lost after that ending...not what I expected and left me feeling everything done was for nothing."
@masseffect: "We know it's a lot to take in! But hang in there. Your decisions matter."

User 4: "Are you holding something back, that could quell the large amount of frustration from the community, a tiny hint would be enough."
@masseffect: "Mike Gamble already said on his twitter, if the fans knew what was in store, the reaction would be different."

User 5: "I loved 98% of ME3..but something has to be up w/ ending..too much talent at BW for that business. Keep my saves?"
@masseffect: "We're keeping our saves, that's for sure."

User 6: "Fans are people too. Playing with their minds isn't that nice as it may look like to people from Bioware."
@masseffect: "We're not playing with anyone's minds, we are answering what questions we can and recording what feedback we receive."

User 7: "Its not that the ending was taken in the wrong direction its that it makes NO SENSE. Ashley was on the Normandy? she [was] with me."
@masseffect: "Probably a good thing to be cautious of."

User 8: "Do y'all have any ETA when more news will be released? Dying for news on a new ending/DLC."
@masseffect: "No ETA yet, but you will be updated via Facebook and Twitter when the news is available :)."

And some more:

User 1 -Well, i think i'll stop naggin you and trying to get you to talk about the indoctrination theory. :( Good game though!
Merizan - I want people to make up their own minds right now, then when more people have played we'll talk :)

User 2 - then I want to SEE that he was lying. I want to get up and finish the fight with Commander Shepard. Then retire.
Merizan - augh. want. to. discuss! Staying spoiler free for now :P

User 3 - But should've confronted the kid instead. Shep went meekly into the night.
Merizan - are you sure he went meekly into the night?

I really haven't ascribed to the "Shepard was indoctrinated theory" but this lends credence to something along those lines. Bioware is clearly saying the ending is not what it seems. They pretty much say so when they tell us that Ashley being on the Normandy is "something to be cautious of".

Is it too much to ask for a confirm/deny from Bioware I mean what harm would it do, besides stop raising money for charity

So they can destroy the last remaining shred of hope some fans have left? That would only add more to fire that's currently raging. Bioware was lied enough, words alone wont placate the masses. Only content releases will.

The Vine has some interesting info as well as a consolidation of Tweets that make it seriously seem like there is more to come (I apologize if this has been covered elsewhere):

If that's true, they'll probably get again my money, for the real ending, for any other DLC and for future games.

If that's not true... simply, they won't.

And the longer they take to do it, the bigger their loss will be. If they just said they're doing it, that would calm a lot of people. By not saying anything they just make it worse.

Awwww.  Hang in there.  I hope it's true and your Shep and Garrus can laugh about it on the beach drinking cervesas.

Even if it's not though, there will always be better games and better stories on the horizon.

To bad Wolfgang Shepard doesn't like turians, and made sure Garrus never came back from the Omega-4 Relay!

I can understand people's caution to believe in this, but at the same time there are a lot of things that do add up.

If true. every game reviewer in the world would lose any ounce of credibillity except the ones that said they disliked the ending from the start.

This is why this particular rumor is false.

They wouldnt tell the reviewers either though...
Although if this is true I would be willing to bet that every reviewer changes their tune and say that they really disliked the ending or something

FemShep would NEVER go meekly into anything.  She's FEMSHEP.  Remember that.
She's just waiting to get up and kick Harbinger right in whatever it is Reapers have for nuts and bolt.  >=3

Hold the line.

***I'm sure lame multiplayer DLC, Galactic Readiness DLC (taking back Omega
for example), or an epilogue to show what happened to Earth and the
stranded squadmates
won't make us want to "hold onto me3 forever". They
probably know that too.**

ya that would ****** me off.
they need to put back the dark enegery storyline.
itd be easier to explain then the whole"we kill you with synthetics to save you from synthtics"

lol this reminds me of my friend who romanced Tali, and he calls me a horrible human being because she killed herself in my Renegade playthrough  :P

Also reminds me that everyone's Shepard is different, and that there shouldn't be a universal ending for him/her.  *sigh*

Well, here's to hoping that this rumor is true.  Maybe we'll get an option to punch the Space Wizard, like we can the reporter.  :wizard:

I guess it's all plausible, minus things like the Asari Justicar, Krogan Battlemaster and what have you.

Think about it. Mass Effect being a retelling of the legend of Commander Shepard is a perfect framework in which to set a narrative. Since this is basically a myth there will be as many variations of it as there were survivors from the final battle against the reapers, which is a mirror of the myriad players having their own Shepards. So maybe this Stargazer dude heard it wrong, and there is someone out there who knows what really happened. Hence The Truth.

If you are shooting for hope you can even hazard a guess and say that maybe Bioware wanted to leak this information because they are unable for whatever reason to make an official statement.

I still think this is a masterful troll, though. Just look at how it's got so many people agonizing over this.

I just find one major problem with this DLC ending theory. I know it works for most people but what about people who don't have XBL or PSN. Bioware/EA would have effectively screwed them out of the real ending. Besides making fans wait on nothing (and maybe paying extra) on the real ending, they are ruining some of the fans games just to try and get more press/money. And that's just sad.

Haha.  nice.

I don't think I could let Tali die, not even on Renegade.  She's like a creepy little sister to my Shep.  No way I could romance her, though.  I like my women bat-sh*t-crazy both in game and real life.

Ok.  Got off topic, sorry OP.  Serious face.  Truth theory:  Go!

IDK if this helps support the indoctrination theory, or if it was just for me that it happened, because nobody else seems to have noticed or mentioned it yet so here it is.

As Shep. is waking up, immediately after being hit by the laser, and when you first hear the radio chatter on everyone being cooked on the way to the beam there are a couple of blue lines in the top left of his vision. They are the same color blue as seen on the husks and other reapers. you can only see them for a brief time (while seeing things from Shepard's view)

Let me know what you think

I believe in Bioware. They've never let me down before this. Too early to tell whether they failed rly or not. I still got plenty of fun racing my third shepard towards the "ending". My hopes are still up.
