Keep in mind, this isn't an Anti-Jessica Chobot thread or anything like that. This thread is simply to discuss the notion that Emily Wong could or could not have been a greater fit than the character that Jessica Chobot played.

To get to the point, I believe Emily Wong should have been the SR2 Normandy inbeed instead of the Chobot character. Why? Because in terms of story and the relationship that Wong and Shepard had, it would have made better sense. Remember, Shepard helps Ms. Wong out twice in ME1 in terms of obtaining exclusive material for her news coverage. In ME2, She sends Shepard an email talking about how she is shocked that Shepard is back and didn't give her the exclusive to tell he side of the story. She then mentions to keep in touch and how he should contact her whenever he is ready. Here is the email:

From: Emily Wong
You're alive? How come you broke whatever cover you've been under for two years but didn't offer an exclusive interview to your favourite reporter?
Whenever you come up for air and are ready to talk, let me know!

So come ME3, I think it would have "made sense" to have Emily Wong be the reporter who boards the Normandy to deliever that exclusive front lines coverage which would have made a nice end to the whole Shepard/Wong subplot. And who knows, she could have even been a love interest/side romance for male and/or female Shepard. 

However we all know that wasn't the case and instead, we got an IGN employee to be the reporter.

What do you think, do you believe that Jessica Chobot got the role that should have been given to Emily Wong? Or was the Twitter death of Ms. Wong the best fitting for her to go out on?

I don't know who Chobot is, but I do find that Diana person's character model really creepy.

As much as I enjoy having beautiful and hot women in my vicinity, I'd have preferred Emily Wong. Also as a character present since ME1, it would have been more meaningful, as well.

Too bad they decided that hormones rule all gamers and killed her off on Twitter.

SO yes. Yes, I would have much preferred to have Emily Wong than Diana Allers.

ETA And I was incredibly pissed when Wong threw away her life by suiciding a skyvan into a Reaper (because, y'know, if mass accelerator cannons can't even dent a Reaper, what's a skycan gonna do?). Granted, she was probably mortally wounded just beforehand and had suffered severe blood loss, so she probably wouldn't have survived anyways.

(IDK who Jessica Chobot even is, I have no opinions on her as a person; as for the character of Diana Allers, I don't dislike her. She's just a War Asset that occasionally has unique dialogue, as far as I'm concerned.)

I don't like reporters either way. I kicked Diana Allers off my ship, I would have done the same with Miss Wong.

Definitely would've made a lot more sense. We could've even been given a sort of sidequest where we had to choose which reporter (if any) we wanted on the Normandy. We coudl've chosen between Wong, Allers, and the reporter you always punch (the one who everytime she says her name, I think she's saying "Police have been seen in...")

Yes. Chobot is with IGN. IGN is with EA. Ergo, Chobot is an indoctrinated slave of EA.

Plus, she can't really act worth s**t. If they really didn't want Emily back, they should have made a new character and given her to Laura Bailey. She is a great VO.

*nods* If we can consider a single death in this game a fridging, I'd give that to Emile Wong. It wasn't the worst death, but the only two reasons I can see for it were to clear a path for Chobot, and to get Emily's fans more invested in ME3. For a character with a sidequest chain to get killed off outside the game, when Rana Thenoptis gets death through email...

I don't know who the hell is that Chobot person, but due to her AWFUL voice acting of that reporter  and the history between Shep and Wong i'd rather prefer Wong.

She's some chick that licked a psp more than once for IGN.
