Should Emily Wong been given the role that Jessica Chobot was given in ME3?

Khalsiah would have been awesome. If for nothing else than the history there between her Shep.  I slugged her in the first game; Renegade talked her down in the next game; and went paragon in the last game. Just cuz I felt this wasn't the time for that BS. Annnd, it was kinda a personal evolution for my Shep.

In fact, I think Khalisah was the only npc to ever call my Shep a B!tch. lol! She called me a b!tch. She could have added alot to the embedded reporter on ship thing.

Yeah, loved going Paragon in ME3. That was surprising.. I wish all dialogue could be like that, where they remember past actions.

What made it even worse was that she was an employee for IGN....which is a company that is supposed to render objective reviews. Funny how in the end it was IGN that defended Bioware over the ME3 ending. People do not make a big deal out of it, but Jessica Chobot being in ME3 is just as bad as Dorrito Pope.

Well, I just got the platinum today! XD  It was hard, because, I rushed it a lot (only the main quest line, and the easiest N7 missions to hurry the Collector ghost ship and Reaper IFF missions). So by the time I got to the last boss, I had only level 2 or 3 Assault Rifle, same for Shotgun. It was tough. lol And not even level 2 skin weave or level 3 shields.

So I guess I should try for the triple crown and get the last platinum on the trilogy, for ME3. Are you sure it's easier on a NG+ ? (since I'll be level 60 and they will all be scaled to my level). I know this is off-topic, but I wanted to let you know I did it, and ask for this advice, on something we talked about before on this topic. Thanks, StreetMagic.

I'll have to restart the whole thing from ME1 though because I couldn't upgrade any weapons past level 7 on ME3, and now I know why, so I deleted the saves.

Yeah, I can understand getting frustrated on insanity for ME2, but ME3 is a little easier. Or gets easier after the midway point or so. Especially if you waited for that second playthrough and had weapons upgraded to X.

There's definitely an improvement with upgraded weapons. If you beat ME2 on insanity though, it'll be no problem at all.

ME3 NG+ Insanity with level 10 weapons...  Mantis X, in particular... So much fun! Damage of Javelin/Widow, 200% cooldown bonus, 20+ shots... ;)

This shouldn't even be a question....OF COURSE!!!

I have nothing against Allers or Chobot, but it just didn't make sense having her as the Normandy's reporter rather than Wong or Khalsiah.

Why'd you do it Bioware? Why?!

X2.

That would have been an amazing change of pace and shown how this is not the time for petty squabbles.

To me no one would make sense having on ship while people getting indoctrinated, stabs others in their backs etc.

But if i had a choice i'd choose Wong or Khalsiah because we had more interactions with them, good or bad. Wong was a nice character and Khalsiah could turn into a likable persona after seing all stuff that happened. We were protectors, hmm no, she couldn't but still...

And all these were written without thinking much about horrible VA of Allers. She could do much better, she sounds like Bioware held her children captives and she was forced to do that.

What makes this worse is i heard she was a fan of ME series in RL. I now wonder how bad would be her performance if she wasn't a fan.

So to be fair she probably had some problems in RL at that time, i symphatise. But still her VA is with so many good voice artists and actresses in the same game, that's why people  including me think she's bad at it.

PS: I had no idea who she was. Then saw her licking PSP on google search. Still have no idea who she is except she loves PSP or licking PSP. Umh at least at that time she loved it i guess.

I don't blame her. She isn't an actress. The fault lies with whoever in Bioware decided it was a good idea to cast an IGN employee as one of its characters. Diana Allers also wasn't a well written character. They could have cast an Oscar winner in that role and it wouldn't have made much of a difference.

I do wish Emily Wong was present in ME3, she was my first pixel crush. Shameful she was eliminated through twitter despite having a minor but noticeable presence in Mass Effect. Bioware is obviously free to what they want with their characters but that was really shameful. They could have even had a killed through an expanded novel.

Why wasn't Shepard given the opportunity to punch Allers like Shepard can with Khalisah?

Because Allers did nothing to insult Shepard. At least before being recruited. ;)

In ME1 I thought... meh, I guess it was a good try t put something in, in me2 she was back and grew on me a Little bit more even though she was that anoying reporter, being anoying.

Khalisha really grew on me in me 3!

I also loved that she could punch back if you tried to renegade¨punch her once and didn't follow it through with a second reaction roll.

I think they could have put more effort into making "Chobot" work out better.
I don't mind her, but she could have been a lot better if they had put more effort into it. I'm guessing she was rushed just like priority Earth.

I also liked Khalishas dosier in the description, where she had a large galaxy wide audience, who actually liked her show, perhaps they liked her critique of the leaders and famous people, and how most of her questions seemed to end with them getting violent when she steped on their toes!

I love the Video of her getting punched and kicked by just about every species in Citadel space! (Lair of the shadowbroker)
Probably what earned her her big audience, her tenacity! I'm guessing thats why she picked up selfdefence moves by the time we got to ME3 :D Loved it :)

I also loved how she did remember what you said or did to her in your old me1/2 playthroughs. That savegame exporting was so Worth it.

Probably because it would have been awkward, she didn't do or say anything offensive, she was just clingy, never demanding, just asking..

Yeah it was a strange decision, one of many in the game but this was one that actually annoyed me. We had two reporters- one i hated( well wrote) and wong who i liked, bringing Allers in gave me the distict impression the writers were a bit drunk when they did It.

I don't even hate Allers, as a stand alone reporter it would have been fine but she is obviously replacing Wong and voiding decisions we made

I just listened to Khalis's interview with Anderson in Citadel, you have to turn on the tv and listen to the audio, and it's actually a really fair and insightful interview with Anderson.

It made me want to have Khalis on the Normandy.

I prefer Khalisah or may be Emily Wong but definitely not Allers. She is so annoying. Also the reasons are stated by the others as well. I'm also one that loves Khalisah's interview with Anderson. As a reporter, she is good at her job and one of the few that's not in love with Shepard :)

And she actually challenges Shepard's motivations, asks the hard questions no one else in the game asks Shepard.

Allers was a turrible idea. Wong is an investigative journalist, so I don't think it would make much sense to have her, either. Rather, after Khalisah first approaches you on the Citadel during ME3, the topic could come up there, and she could possibly come on board and give periodic interviews.
