Should Emily Wong been given the role that Jessica Chobot was given in ME3?

Given that my Shepard would actually have a reason to consider letting Emily Wong onto the Normandy as a press representative, I would have to say "Yes".

When I first ran into Chobot's character I thought, "Who the hell is this and why on Earth would I be letting her onto the Normandy?" It's not like you to have her to combat some 'pro-Reaper' PR machine out there and rally public opinion.

I actually loved Wong's epic journey on Twitter. I just camped out in front of my PC with some pizza, periodically refreshing the page. It made me super excited to play the game.

I'm ok with it. With all the renegade options you can perform on Wong in all three games it's not surprising that Shepard wouldn't want her on his/her ship from a story perspective.

Different reporter!

  That's my point? Shepard wouldn't want Wong on his/her ship and neither would Wong want to be either. It makes sense to throw in another reporter for the role.

*Edit: Oh, my mistake. Your two are right, I'm the one confused.

i dont get why people care so much about this? wong wasn't even a good reporter in ME1, you had to do her job for her lol

Emily Wong was denied access to certain areas.  Shepard's Spectre clearance allowed access everywhere.  Shepard placing a bug in an office is hardly doing Wong's job considering that it was a place she wasn't allowed to go in the first place.

Besides, a reporter's job is to report. They don't have to do EVERYTHING involved with that first-hand. =/

You're starting to make me think I'm the only one who liked Diana Allers.

I liked Allers, especially given that she was willing to come aboard the ship with the biggest target in the universe painted on it, just to try and do her bit to help the fight. Gotta respect that.

Is there a link to the Emily Wong twitter feed anyone can link me to? I haven't read it, didn't even know it existed until
this thread

@ OP: Yes and no.

Not to rip on Chobot, but her character kinda came out of the blue, whereas Emily Wong is an established, albeit minor character that ppl generally liked.

OTOH, BW chose to keep Wong on Earth, where she eventually died. I remember that actually riled me up more than I expected around release day. I'd have to say that was a fairly effective way to use her, so I can't complain too much for not having Wong on the Normandy.

Come to think of it, they even used al-Jilani pretty effectively in the story as well.

Well since I now know who we're talking about I can't say I really care either way. Wong was hardly memorable (at least from my perspective) and neither was Diana Allers for that matter either. I think Bioware just did it to get in another "famous" face in to the game (Chobat). Not saying she's super famous or anything, but she's fairly well known in the gaming community. I knew her prior from G4TV

I think it is sad what happen to Emily wong. I would prefere her over Diane, because she was familiar.

Diane looked familiar, but more because i did'nt knew who she was to begin with, maybe seen a photo or something but that's it.
Stil had her aboard the normandy, she was there to do her job and she did it well.
Regarding, the animation and voice acting, well it was okay but could have been better.

The only real concern i have now, is that if a person who works from ign, gamespot, sites that review games can get a spot in this game...what would that lead to?

I don't really care which character they put in that room to act as the reporter, but they should have cast someone with a scrap of acting ability. She's absolutely terrible and not up to Bioware game standards by any stretch of the imagination.

I just expected to run into her at some point. I thought Chobot was fine. but expected to see Emily Wong somewhere...

This. Emily Wong had more history and therefore would have been a more interesting character, but Diana Allers was fine.

If only they had kept Diana Allers's original look. Much better than was is in the final release. And if some famous singers who can't sing **** can use a voice hack for auto tuning, why on earth didn't the VA Director used one on that annoying jackdow's voice?

Yes, reasons being that I actually know and helped out Emily in 1. Having her on the Normandy makes more sense than Allers. Just the way Allers looks and sounds is...nope.

Diana Allers was a horrible waste of everyone's time. Even that other annoying journalist lady wasn't as bad as that Allers/Chobot monstrosity.

I did miss Emily Wong. I kept looking for her, but was sad to find out that I wouldn't be finding her.

Also, Jessica is ugly, and her virtual representation is REALLY ugly.

Thanks for the comment but please people, try to refrain from the "Jessica is ugly" or comments regarding looks. I am a male myself but I do believe that it is a bit, borderline sexist that we always have to throw in physical beauty when it comes to judging women in scenarios where beauty is irrelevant. Captain Anderson, Joker, and Admiral Hackett aren't judged by their looks, so why can't we do the same for the women fellas?

Continue on....

Emily Wong is dead, so that would be difficult. However if they didn't kill her off, I would have preferred her.

They could always throw her in via DLC. But yes, Emily Wong would be significantly preferable to Digital chobot.

I personally was surprised that Diana Allers didn't have that large of a role. She just made a few brief interview appearances and that was all.

As for Emily Wong, we all know what happened to her. She died fighting a Reaper. That's a dignifying and fitting exit to one of my more favorite minor characters in the game.

I would rather have Wong on the ship, but I'm not entitled to change that fate. Shepard is not God.
