Emily Wong is dead, so that would be difficult. However if they didn't kill her off, I would have preferred her.

What!?

Why couldn't she just wait for Shepard to push the blue/green/red button?  WHY??!!???

Wong died in the the attack on Los Angeles. It was revealed as part of the Alliance News Net Twitter feed that was leading up to the game's midnight launch, when they did a War of the Worlds" type news feed all night long. It was actually really, really well done.

Emily Wong was killed in exchange for mainstream nerd cred.

Emily Wong was murdered via Twitter. What a brilliant way to write a character out of a game. lol.

I would much rather have had her (and she woulda made more sense) than have Diana "The ChoBot" Allers. Eugh.

Uh, yes. What purpose did Chobot serve? It wasn't exactly eye candy. I thought she looked terrible, but most of the graphics were subpar. The only reason she was in the game was for a romance option. Seriously? She's my FemShep's romance option, but Vega was not? Even my ManShep wouldn't touch her.

I liked Emily Wong. Not for a romance, but she was always honest in game and would have made a much better flight reporter.

No problem with Allers. But agreed that Wong should've been the one on the ship. Dunno why she wasn't considered. It would've been cool having a ME1 character follow you into ME3.

Shepard was always written as being slightly wary of reporters, it didn't matter if he/she was paragon or renegade he/she always seemed to be wary of them.

To have him/her approached by some random stranger claiming to be a reporter asking to be placed on the Normandy - the place Shepard lives - and letting this random stranger do so, doesn't really make sense.
It could have worked if the Reporter had made the effort to get to know Shep, make him/her comfortable with her being on the ship. But she doesn't.

As someone who hates Twitter and just stumbled across the ANN updates via Facebook updates that boring Monday morning I have to say that I was extremely captivated and loved Emily Wongs twitter moments.

It honestly made me feel more compelled to defeat the reapers and actually save Earth and I can't say many moments of the game itself made me feel that way. I'm biased though because I don't think I would have liked it so much if it didn't take place in LA.

Would I have prefered her over Allers? More then likely... but then I wouldn't have gotten that surprising emotional connection from a Twitter feed...

Talking to her after each (most?) major story sections triggers either an interview, or a request for an interview. Based on your responses, you can gain additional war assets.

Whether that's sufficient to justify her inclusion is up to you. They could've just as easily included a different reporter instead, if the problem is with her specifically.

YES

This Chobot chick was just silly to include.  Ugly, bad voice, and they make her look like she is stoned the entire time.  Get off my ship before you spread crazy space STDs to my crew.  And what are you doing in Zaeed's room anyway?  Let me show you how an airlock works.

I guess that is how it works.  BW scratches IGNs back by giving exposure for some internet vid stiff, and IGN does what they do best, over hype the crap out of games and give great reviews regardless of merit.

Bioware should have asked TIM for tips of how to build a nice crew with familiar faces and not an absolutely unknown.

Maybe this so called Jessica Chobot is good in her bussiness (I still don't know who she is) but I think it was more consistent to the ME universe to get Emily Wong or even Kalissa Al-Jilani on the Normandy.

Also Emily Wong got far more charisma than Diana Allers... also better face design.

But well... at least she didn't die in a stupid way but fighting the reapers (also futile, but better than just die or being a hitchhiker on the Normandy)

I didn't know that Allers' character was based on a real person. I did want to tell her to change her fugly outfit really bad!
I would have preferred Wong- because I was expecting her to show up from the note in ME2- I didn't know she'd been killed! *sadface*

How about Khalisah Bint Sinan al-Jalani? She and Shepard have a past too. I would have liked the option between choosing Emily, Diana or Khalisah to come aboard the Normandy, or none of the three. Maybe a "The Fourth Estate"-style ambush press conference, where Shepard can pick from the three reporters present. That would have been a good place for "oh, and by the way this happened in the previous games" exposition, in the form of questions from the reporters.

Emily Wong was one of my favourite NPCs - was sad to see her kill get killed off on Twitter.

Chobot and 'The Battlespace' didn't feel right for my liking - it was always a bit goofy and fun rather than feeling like an actual war correspondent - the only time she started to feel fleshed out was her line at the end about being a colony kid..

I think using someone who was an existing reporter who wanted the truth out to save lives would have been a much better choice.

I would have preferred that Wong be the reporter, yes. Not that I have anything against Chobot.

I don't mean to be a dick about her inclusion, but there could have been better choices for the war corespondent character. Definitely. Emily Wong perhaps? Certainly would've guaranteed more than "wooden dialogue1, wooden dialogue2, flirt1, flirt2, wooden dialogue3"

I'm of the opinion that talent should outweigh celebrity in any instance regarding whether or not people get jobs in this medium.

I didn't romance Diana, but other than that her voice acting isn't that bad. Is it in the bottom of the list for ME yes but there is a lot of great voice acting in this series. Anyways, Emily Wong would have fit more because of the focus of ME characters and how often they payed homage to the past two games, which I loved. But I'm fine with Chobot.

Agreed.

Also, I agree with the op, Emily Wong would have been a welcome addition to my crew.
