Im playing on an acer laptop (because steam broke on my desktop machine)

3 gig Ram
Ive been playing for a while now with no problems. I saved my game after the fight with ...

and did the rescue etc.
After i loaded the game it was unplayably slow. The large fight which then ensues was impossible because damage registered 30 secs after i did anything and my party would not do as i asked them.
Can any of you think of why?
One thing i will say is i am running Vista and just downloaded SP2 which i fear may be the cause. But if so, how do i fix it?
