I thought they might close ME3 to 'encourage' players to migrate to ME4 and stay there.
Battlefield 4 came out a year ago. The Battlefield 3 servers are still up, as are the BF Bad Company 2 servers. The Battlefield 1942 servers were only shut down this summer past.

I guess we'll only find out when ME4 is released. I hope they won't shut this game but I wouldn't be surprised if they did.
Money.
Exactly. And EA clearly realizes that there is more money in keeping game servers running than shutting them down instantly when the next game comes online.
I still say EA is a lot better at understanding business necessity than a bunch of randoms on the Internet, but I'm clearly in a minority there.

I got suspended (for a very nice russian santa claus pic) by biowaremod02, but she has changed, like to drink blood and used a lot of testosteron, so i fear we lost our dear friend as we know her.
It won't have nearly the staying power of the games that are focused on multiplayer. Halo Reach still has a very large and active playerbase more than a year after release, but ME3's multiplayer options are a small fraction of Reach's. (And don't get me started on the CoD games...) I give it one month, maybe two, before it becomes a ghost town. The backlash the game has been getting for its ending doesn't help either.

EA only seems to close servers down due to inactivity or too many incarnations of a Franchise
TW 2014 is almost two years old and I believe the TW 2012 Servers are still up
I bet the servers are cheap to maintain anyway... 
Well....i still see folks play online. This MP already stood solid tests against GTA 5 online, TitanFall, and Destiny....in which some predicted doom for this MP, yet there is still a good amount traffic transpiring between the PC,PS3 and 360 platforms. Me personally i play it everyday...i can't enough of the Phoenix Vanguard and giving Dragoons and phantoms a taste of their own medicine....ahhh it's so satisfying to light a phantom up with incendiary ammo then hit her with BC for a firey explosion!...
I just think it's hilarious that a thread titled "Longevity" has survived two weeks as a necro without being locked.
Well to be fair I did quit in the month after the thread start, well within the OP's prediction
