Falcon - it is a bloody grenade launcher. I usually give to squadmates and they are kicking ass with it.
N7 Valkyrie - quite powerful, fast and has lots of ammo.

I found squad cryo godly as a soldier. Great CC.

Hmmm ok, but what to avoid putting points in then to free up the space? Are people not taking Frag grenade or Concussive shot then? (at the risk of derailing this thread further...)

Found CS to be spectacularly useless. Took carnage as the bonus power for extra armour damage. Frag grenade is vital imo.

Yeah, I've found frag grenade to be useful, might go for the overload EMP grenade version, but even level 6 CS with amplification hasn't really impressed me at all. Just doesn't seem to do enough damage or knockback. Thought about Carnage as bonus, but am trying out marksman at the moment to see if it helps increase accuracy or make the Vindi's burst fire be something like back to the original speed.

Does the AR scope make that much difference? I recall testing one on the Rev and Avenger and thought it seemed to result in far tighter groupings on the targets. Might make me reconsider using the Avenger for a mission or two.

Could do with a squadmate weapon thread...since the weps behave differently in their hands

I have both squad ammos for my Vanguard, but I prefer using the explosive incendiary rounds.

using the chakram, i had squad cryo and had kaiden freezing things with it all the time. it seems to have a high proc rate for the freeze effect (or maybe i am just imagining it). in addition, its charged shot penetrates guardian shields and the charged shots have a larger area of effect. its damage was nothing special, but i am really trying to use powers over gunfire where possible. for what it is worth, the chakram launcher is pretty efficient for ammo, especially if you are using the charged shot.

Im definitly using the Chakram Launcher aswell, it can handle every possible situation : tough enemies with charged shots, while weaker trashs get destroyed by the AoE.

Haven't tried any of the DLC weapons, but on my first playthrough (soldier on hardcore) I found the revenant and the geth pulse rifle to be the most useful. Revenant, well, I don't need to explain that one; never tried it w/marksman, but I imagine it would be nuts.

Geth Pulse Rifle is probably underrated: super accurate, no recoil, and tons of ammo per clip. It chews through health and shields, and will do the same to armor with incendiary ammo.

Whoever was responsible for designing/balancing the various assault rifles should be proud... look at the variety of responses in this thread. That's exactly what you'd want to see, as opposed to one rifle being simple THE best, period.

I preferred the Vindicator because of the 3 shots rather than full auto.

Loving the Revenant as a Vanguard. Wanted to use one in ME2 (I actually did when I modded the game.)

It's weird, Assault Rifles are the new Shotguns.

Vindicator. Mattock is decent but a bit heavier and having to manually fire each shot is mildly annoying. Revanant is nice, but the accuracy is lacking and it is heavy. Geth Pulse Rifle does pitiful damage per shot, I used it on the level that I picked it up and HATED it...I ran out of ammo thanks to the awful damage and took forever to whittle down Geth Primes with just Liara's Warp + Tali's drone. Never touched it again.

Vindicator has a nasty recoil when fired out of cover but otherwise it is perfect. Light, good damage, good range, decent damage per clip. I've since switched to the Raptor (not technically an assault rifle) though.

I really like Mattock, the semi-auto basically negates recoil and has good accuracy to place head shot or mail-slot shot. Single shot damage is decent and once upgraded enough to 28 round per clip its more than enough. I use it to pick off enemy at range with vanguard build then charge in to finish with shottie.

I am not a fan of the scope upgrade though(in general), it kills your field of vision...

Loving the Valkyrie at the moment.

My main Shepard is an infiltrator, and I run with the Black Widow and an assault rifle. First time through, I used the Phaeston and the Geth rifle (both are accurate and have large clips, and on nomral their damage is fine).

Five hours into my second run of ME3, on insanity. The Black Widow is still great, but my choice assault rifles - Phaeston and Geth - just don't cut it any more damage-wise. While heavy, the Valkyrie is really good on insanity. It does mean powers are on like -14% (my Black Widow is level X so doesn't way anywhere near as much as it used to) but I think its the best AF for insanity if you're using a sniper for long range stuff.

Does anyone one have any better suggestions for a second weapon for an insanity-run infiltrator. The Black Widow is too good to give up, but I haven't really tried running a shotgun or SMG as by second weapon. If anyone has suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

Amazing gun on normal or lower. Up there with the Phaeston imo. The accuracy and clip size are fantastic.

On higher difficulties, its damage is just too low to justify it imo. You need high, rapid damage instead of sustained lower damage to minimise time out of cover.

I prefer the Valiant and the Argus, the two and three-burst shots deal good damage while the firing rate is better than the Sabre.

I know this isn't multiplayer, but it seems like I miss shots that I should make with the Sabre. Everything seems lined up just fine. Maybe its lag.

Really, the weapons are very equal it just depends on picking correct updates to make up the weapon's innate weaknesses. For example, a Revenant with the stability mod is sick. A Falcon with an ammo pack is sick. A Mattock with scope and weight reduction is sick.

It's all about picking the best mods for the weapon.

I'm rocking the Phaeston at the moment, and I like it a lot. Pretty good accuracy with a good rof.

I'm having a very hard time choosing between the Mattock and the and the Phaeston ( I think that's the name of the gun ). The Mattock is the just pure awesomeness but I prefer the look of the Phaeston ( yeah, I'm that shallow ), the higher ammo clip and the fact that is an automatic assault rifle and the Mattock is not.

M-15 Vindicater is my personal favorite fellowing that the M-99 Saber and M-96 Mattock is other assault rifles I would recommand as the best.

Bu yes the Particle Rifle is utterly nasty with ammo mods and barrel.

Geth Pulse Rifle (IMHO it was the best assault rifle in every ME)

Before that - Phaeston (aka the Turian rifle)

When I first saw the Argus I thought...what a piece of junk for a dlc. The designer from Bioware said the Argus is supposed to be a "modified Mattock." I loved the Mattock in ME2 and its pretty good in ME3 still. After upgrading that sucker, taking into account its 3 round shot, using the stab mod/accuracy scope/adrenaline rush I've grown quite fond of it. I don't have mine up to X yet in regards to upgrade but when I do I'll post further thoughts.

chakram > falcon. falcon rounds have a tendency to bounce off stuff. chakram if you or your companion misses will at least explode near their target. chakram has two chances to apply your ammo power and fully charged does a LOT of initial damage. on insanity it's about 2/3 health bar on assault troopers at rank v
