Does ME3 have the ME2 damage modifiers for weapons?

That is, do different weapons have modifiers that make them more effective vs. shields/barriers/armor/health? In ME2 SMGs could strip shield, for example, or the eviscerator was better than most shotguns against armor. My brief testing on the targets at the spectre center on the citadel suggested there was not, but I figured I would ask here.

Did a search and couldn't find the answer. Maybe I'm just not searching with the right terms.

I'm not normally a bumper, but I'm going to give this one bump in the hope that somebody has an answer to the question. Here's hoping.

Not to the extent of ME2, no. Though faster rates of fire are better against shields and barriers, and high powered single shots are better for armor. But the defense stripping metagame is not as deep.

The difficulty of the game was shifted from stripping defenses to handling the more advanced flanking maneuvers of the A.I., and the much larger waves of enemies. Though a lot of people consider ME3 easier than ME2 because biotics are godly again.
