So, I found Ruck, traded with him, and he obviously is a bit loony and
doesn't want dear ol' mum to know any more than she already does,
except possibly that he is dead, me lying basically.

So my
delimma is, if I spill the beans about hear precious little offspring
being crazier than a ****house rat, causing her to give me the shield
and then run off to try and find her developed insane embryo, is there
some kind of unwanted repercussions that I will have to deal with later?

Should I just lie to her and tell her he is dead, or does it even matter in the long, deep roads, run?

no repurcussions.. she'll just keep saying that she needs to go find Ruck.. but that'll be it.. she wont actually leave to go find him and Ruck wont find out either.

It matters not (I have not had any at least), one way, she tries to save him. The the other way she accepts her loss.

You still get the shield.

Depends on your character's morality. Do you want what's best for her? Do you not lie?

Best outcome is to lie. If you lie to her, and good characters are with you, like Wynne, you get points for mercy.

It's what Ruck wants if you ask him. To be thought of as honorably dead.

When I did otherwise, she says she's going to try to go find him herself, thanks for not caring much, and that's more distressing.

I had more sympathy for Ruck than his mom in the end. I did what he wanted.

I ran back to check on Ruck (to see if his mom joined him) and he had some dialogue that was interesting (and new, I believe.) About how badly he wanted to see the Archdemon, and he feels it calling to him--it's possible the taint is more progressed in him then first appeared. (Or maybe he's just an undercover, and quite loony, Grey Warden.)

Yeah that was what I was wondering about, if when his mom runs off to find him, does she ever show up again? Or I guess we write her off to shouldn't have run off into the deep roads being who she was in the first place? ;P

She tries to organize an expidition into the deep roads, but fail, becomes even more miserable and dies later on.

My take on it at least, she might become a female Oghren.

You guys didnt have to kill him???? I was talking to him and he got upset and attacked me. When I went back to the mom I lied to her and told her that he died a hero. She gave me the shield but it wasn't very special. (shrug)

It may have been a persuasion, but there is a way to calm him down a little bit without killing him.

No, I've never had to kill him.  All you have to do is promise to follow his wishes and he's your best...albeit truly creepy...friend.

Visit him later and he says something like "It's the pretty lady...I've been...THINKING about you..."

There is no "EEEW!" option, but you'd probably have to kill him after that.  He's just Renfield.

Hahah I never thought of him as Renfield, but it totally fits... in that creepy way. He'd probably watch you sleep if you stayed at his camp.

At least then Shale wouldn't be alone in her creepiness.

Oh great, Alistair's watching over me with this little grin, Ruck's poked a hole in the tent and is peeping and Shale is just waiting until we all fall asleep to lift the flap and stare. And then when I fall asleep the archdemon pops by as if to say "Hey...you know, you're in the deep roads...you could just...you know...drop in.  Get it!?  Drop in?!  There's a chasm!  Hah!"

Good thing i won't live too long anyway.  You can only take so much of that.
